644577 tn?1224350916 t know about you but I saw results right away and I have been on metformin since 9/11 and lose 22 pounds. But I walk 45 minutes a day after lunch. One of my friends was put on metformin also but it did not work for her. She gained weight.
Avatar m tn Recently my doc added metformin 500 mg and increased my dosage of clomid to 150 mg. and i heard about preseed lubricant also increases chances.can any one suggest me how to increase my chances of getting pregnant?..and any success stories with this medication?
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type two diabetes about 18 months ago and feel I can easily accept the changes to diet that I need to adopt. I am controlled with metformin and that is where the problems came in. The good news about metformin is that you cannot hypo so it is fairly risk free. The bad news is what it does to your digestion. I could tolerate the cheap stuff at all, suffering appalling stomach cramps and enough wind to run a small power station.

Avatar n tn Is it best to take actos in the morning or evening? I am on metformin and glipized, as well. Is it best to take actos along with these medications to be more effective? This discussion is related to Best time to take meds.
400358 tn?1320234443 I gave myself a 6 month break from the pill, and only stayed on metformin...and had 5 normal periods, but went back on the pill in Jan 2010 because my period was 10 days late. Did I ovulate during those times? I'm not really sure...I don't track it, but I can remember feeling some twinges around that time and a change in CM...so who knows. I've never missed a period for as long as I could remember (well except last month).
Avatar n tn I take Lantus and I also take Metformin 500 mg. twice a day. I am on 20 units of Lantus and have taken Lantus for years. (I use to be on 40 units a day, until I lost 125 pounds) I have not been good about following my diet and I notice that my blood sugar readings have been higher. My fasting blood sugars have been higher than normal (around 175) but I know it's because I have been eating too many carbs and have gained 20 pounds.
Avatar f tn I started the metformin at half the dosage since i am 13lbs lighter on friday night, today i am in severe abdominal pain, belching, horrible gas, nauseous, and vomiting which smells very acidic. Could this be too much ketones, or the medicine? My gallbladder is good, had (endoscopy and nuc med gastric emptying) was told i had mild gastritis due to reflux and mild gastroparisis. I have never felt this discomfort before.
Avatar f tn I am getting ready to start my 4th and last round of clomid prior to being referred to a specialist and my doctor won't increase the dosage from 50 mg to 100 mg. On the 1st round of clomid, I ovulated, on the 2nd round of clomid, I ovulated 8 days late, and on the 3rd round of clomid, I didn't ovulate at all and had no side effects. I have read that the dosage should be increased if you do not ovulate.
Avatar f tn Hi I have been diagnosed with pcos and have been on metformin for just over 2 mouths and have been on clomid. Now 4 weeks pregnant I am not sure I should proceed with metformin. I have an appointment with my doctor in another week so I just want some advise. I read on Internet it could help lowering the risk of miscarriage.
Avatar f tn A year ago my sugar and insulin numbers where too high. My doctor prescribed metformin and told me my numbers should improve if I lost the weight (I was overweight at that time). I lost all the weight and I want to do the “glucose tolerance test” again to confirm or discard the possibility of having diabetes. At what time should I take the metformin the day before the test? How long does metformin stay in your body?? I do not want metformin to mask/change my glucose/insulin numbers.
Avatar f tn i dont ovulate and i havve pcos i been on metformin femara and provera for a month now..i havent ovulated this month so we are going to do provera to started my cycle again.. i have tried clomid 50mg-150 for six cycles and didnt ovulated at all..my questions is should i take femara again this month or moved on to injections? how long did it take for these drugs to work for you?
Avatar n tn Yup you can, I conceived naturally once and 3 times with Clomid and Metformin and an injection of ovidrel. Sometimes the dosage of clomid has to be tweeked, I started with 150mg starting on day 3 for 5 days after 3 insuccessful failures my fert spec switched it to 100mgs starting on day 2 for 8 days and that did the trick for my last two. Good Luck!!!!!
393893 tn?1283551230 Hi ladies, starting metformin soon and I was wondering what to expect? I've been looking online and it seems to be a medicine for diabetics although I've seen women talking about it on the forum in the past. I'm sure my re explained this to me, but I was overloaded with other info so it probably went in one ear and out the other-so much to remember. Thank you for any help!!

1512722 tn?1313697879 Metformin is the most amazing drug, it's the reason I'm pregnant. It helped me lose 20lbs and ovulate!! I ovulated on femara but didn't get pregnant thus month I took only my 1500mg of metformin. I've been on metformin since October at 1500mg and never missed a pill. If you stick to it and exercise it could get you pregnant. I just did yoga/pilates I heard it was good for fertility and only started it this cycle and got pregnant. Good luck to you!!
1434731 tn?1382722384 Metformin is cheap. My daughter takes it for insulin resistance and many pharmacies have it for $4 a month. So hopefully you can get it for that price too.
190673 tn?1259203266 A lot of times this can be remedied by changing the dosing schedule, ie, breaking up a once daily dose into twice a day...or changing the time of administration. Generally speaking, these types of meds (like Effexor) improve with INCREASING dosages, not decreasing. Your dose is average....there is still some room to increase. Have you noticed a significant improvement in the past when increasing the dose? If so, you may want to discuss some changes with your doctor.
245020 tn?1209657943 I'm wondering if anyone has taken metformin to help you become pregnant, and if there were any side effects with it. I took one 500mg pill on Friday but am scared to take anymore because it upset my stomach so bad! Anyone have any success stories? How long were you on it?
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with pcos. And we are trying to conceive. My first cycle didnt work. So my dr increased my dosage to 100mg. Thats 2 pills per day for 5days. I am going to start my cycle of clomid again now with my next period and praying for Gods blessing in our lives. I think the biggest issue is weight loss which kicks in ovulation and that is what I am struggling with. I dont drink my metformin regularly but now am on a daily basis. Just keep praying.
Avatar n tn My Doctor put me on Metformin for "borderline Type 2 Diabetes" (my blood sugar count is 6.5). About 3 months ago, he started me on one 500MG at bedtime. My blood sugar count remained the same, so a month ago he doubled the dosage to 1000MG (once during the day and at bedtime). However, I am not experiencing any weight loss, but I am experiencing hair loss. Every morning I brush out lots of hair and the texture of my hair has changed.
Avatar f tn I have been on metformin for 8 moths now and my dr just uped my dosage to 1500mg. So far it has not worked for me. I am still not ovulating. For me the symptoms were stomach aches, nuasea, head aches. They were really bad when I was getting used to the 1000mg. But once your body gets used to it the symptoms should go away, you might be left with mild cases of them. I found that my symptoms feel better if I am moving around and kepping myself busy but when I relax they get worse.
