Lunesta vs trazadone

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta vs trazadone

lunesta

Avatar m tn Thank you for the info. I currently take Lunesta for insomnia. Been taking 3mg Lunesta for years. I do not abuse it and I never have, but I know I will have a hard time coming off. Trazadone sounds good. I am going to gather some information about it and talk to my doctor about switching.
Avatar m tn My doctor offered me Lunesta, but I'm not excited about another pill. I haven't slept much for two weeks and wondered if it was worth a try. Melatonin and Benadryl haven't helped much.
Avatar f tn Just finished researching Trazadone as my hubby's dr just prescribed it two days ago. It is an antidepressant but also used ALOT for sleep. Not just the GETTING to sleep, but the STAYING asleep. My hubby is not an addict; he's tried everything in the book natural and sleep aide wise and still doesn't sleep more than 4 hrs consecutively. He has had sleep apnea test, etc. Bottom line is he can go to sleep.... just doesn't stay there longer than 4 hrs. NOT good.
335728 tn?1331414412 ll add a new category of treatments called anti-depressants to the sleep tracker in the near future. Zopiclone is actually the generic name for Lunesta, so go ahead and use Lunesta (already in the tracker) to track usage of Zopiclone. We'll let you know when anti-depressants are available to track.
Avatar n tn I had an allergic reaction to ambien so I can not personally reccomend it. However I loved my lunesta, it worked very fast. Now, just like with pain pills when you take sleeping pills be prepared to go to sleep. They are aiding you not making you go to sleep. It is not anesthesia so don't expect it to work as such. I no longer can afford the lunesta I go to my local VA for my medications and they don't carry lunesta.
202665 tn?1248806733 Besides the medications I take for depression and BP (Cymbalta, lamictal, lithium), I've also been tking 50mg of Trazadone and 10mg of Ambien nightly for about 6 months. Sometimes it works...sometimes not. If I miss a certain window of time to take the night drugs...I'm wired instead of sleepy. I will stay up until 3-4a wandering around..eventually get a couple hours sleep, and still have high energy the next day...or couple days...until I crash.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed trazadone for sleep, but I did not like it. It made me feel drowsy, but couldn't sleep. I only took one 50mg pill, the prescription was to take 1 to 3 pills for sleep, so maybe if I took more it would have worked. I didn't like the way I felt so I never tried to take two. My doc told me it is a non addicting sleep aid that can boost my antidepressant. But, like I said, it was not good for me.
736314 tn?1276884623 I am taking lunesta and guess what. I am wide awake. It usually works for me but not tonight i guess.
Avatar f tn Hi xan, Nice to see your response. Hey, I'm just getting off to get off. I've been on it so long no one can remember why I'm on it. I think it was just for sleep anyway and I don't sleep anymore. It puts me to sleep, but I wake up anyway after an hour or so and can't sleep, so why stay on it? I went from 150 mg to 100 mg to 50 mg yesterday. Last night I couldnt' sleep, but no worse than without it. Think I'll stay on it a few days more and then stop it.
Avatar m tn There are safer sleeping medications such as Lunesta and Rozerem. My concern about Trazadone is the fact that it can cause tardive dyskinesia. If you are not taking it for depression but as a sleep aid you might want to ask your psychiatrist about the two I mentioned. This link is from a psychiatric journal and lists all known medications that can cause tardive dyskinesia and Trazadone is clearly listed as one.
1017452 tn?1254904998 Malotone helped also when I went to rehab they gave me trazadone and that helped a lot so might want ask for trazadone (helps sleep and antidepressant) Stay strong and keep is posted hopes helps hubby,
Avatar n tn I am feeling better every day and the last thing i want to do is go through 4 days of feeling like c r a p. I have tried Lunesta, melatonin and benadryl with no luck. However my sleep is non-existant and so badly needed. Should i try the seroquel for a night? I have read pros and cons about it.
Avatar n tn Also he advises that lexapro is non-habit as is the sleep aid/anti depressent trazadone he gave me. I am new to this med also as Ambien CR did not do it. Anyone know what to expect with these? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have trouble sleeping? I only average 4 hrs. sleep/night. I'm taking Trazadone 150mg. Dosen't seem to help. I'm afraid lack of sleep is affecting my health! Is this normal? I'm in week 37 of Interferon and Pegasys. Every night is a battle, for me. Maybe I've just psyched myself out.
Avatar m tn I finally went to my doctor and got a prescription for Lunesta. Worked like a charm. They are strong though, I cut them in half and they still worked great.
Avatar n tn But after a bed svt episode in december, i have been needing something stronger for my sleep anxiety. My doc also recommended me Lunesta but im too scared to try it, its 3mg. I think that might be a too high of a dose. Does anyone know what can help me sleep without anxiety? Has anyone else tried Lunesta for sleep anxiety. I have tried not sleeping with any med but end up staying up all night panicing even though i am super tired. Please help me get back to sleep so i can focus more on my life.
458072 tn?1291415186 My GP prescribed me Lunesta last week. It works, but it gives no appetite. I try taking it every 3rd or 4th night. I am serious about the no appetite though, the first time i took i literally did not have an appetitie for two days. Not healthy in my situation. I have tried ambien, and all others, but this is the only that has worked so far. Of course everyone's side effects are different.
Avatar f tn I now have trazadone which helps me go to sleep - a crappy antidepressant that is a wonderful sleep aid. And I am building up a dosage of lamictal. Man o man - what happened to superwoman?
Avatar m tn 5 alprazolam and it helped for a little while then nothing. My dr. Started me on ambien and lunesta with little relief from either drug. The I started 100mg of trazadone with my .5 alprazolam. I started with a quarter of the trazadone .25 and quickly went all the way up to 200. And still it was a coin toss if I was going to sleep or not. So I went down to 100mg of trazadone and .5 alprazolam. Some days I sleep ok and others I don't.
Avatar m tn I am on Zyprexa, Prozac, lorazepam, lunesta and trazadone. I have taken lorazepam for 9 years 1-1.5 mg prn. Dr tries to wean me down but I get sleep deprived the go into full blown mania so he then restarts it. Is it possible weaning off benzos causes mania or is this part of my disorder?
443006 tn?1229201842 One more thing I forgot to mention. Insomnia is killing me. I take my Riba about 7:00 p.m. as I work and don't get home until at least 6:00. I take melatonin, Benedryl, 5-HTP, glass of warm milk, sometimes half a Unisom, and aromatherapy drops on my ears, and I'm still not getting a good night sleep. Any suggestions from anybody? My doctor gave me a px for Trazadone, but I've heard that's a pretty heavy duty drug and I'm a little reluctant to take it.
Avatar f tn I just can't fall asleep at all. I've tried lunesta, ambien, restoril and risperdal, Trazadone and serequel. Thinking about asking for remeron.. Any ideas of what might work?
Avatar f tn Sorry you're struggling so hard today. One of my AA friends told me about Trazadone (not sure if I spelled it right). She said it's a non-addictive sleep aid and that when she was in rehab everyone was on it. I'm planning on asking my dr. about it today when I go Sleep is a huge issue for me too and I'm in the same boat- working full time, parenting full time. I'm sleeping a little by taking Ibuprofen PM w/ Melatonin, but it's not enough to wake up feeling restored.
Avatar f tn My opinion is that your doctor is probably right. I'm sorry. I know this means you will have to readjust which is hard and it may mean a brief disruption to your sleep issues. Is there anything else you can use as a temporary aid? But Xanax does become addictive and we can develop tolerance to it. It's a slippery slope to take it long term. A lot of people do successfully use trazadone for sleep.
Avatar n tn I am having to take sleeping pills to sleep. I tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, and amitriptyline. Each medicine would only let me sleep for four hours a night. So I am taking the Lunesta right now. But it is very hard functioning during the day as I am very fatigued. My body previously was use to getting 8 hours of sleep a day. Do you know of any other medicines that would help with longer sleep? How long does it usually take for the sleep to return on its own?
Avatar n tn Wellbutrin is stimulating, you may want to discuss this with your doctor. It may be the culprit with your insomnia. Take care.
