Lunesta and sleep apnea

Common Questions and Answers about Lunesta and sleep apnea

lunesta

Avatar n tn he did recommend a sleep study after a month of therapy. he also said i might have sleep apnea, but not obstructive sleep apnea...the other kind which effects your nervous system and ur not breathing enough. He recommended breathing techniques. I also notice right when i start to fall asleep i wake up suddenly freaking out. Ambien is the only thing that calms me down, but i feel weak all day though. Some days r better than others.
Avatar f tn I have have a couple of sleep studies, each of which has shown I have OBSTRUCTIVE sleep apnea, far different than CENTRAL apnea, and not usually asscoiated with MS. (Central sleep apnea can be associated with MS, the way I understand it.) Mine is moderate, where I woke about 225 times during the night due to breathing cessation. I have Restless Limb Syndrome, and apparently I kick my legs during my sleep. There's some kind of party going on!
1580703 tn?1651904887 thanks very much! I suffer from severe sleep apnea and I think it is damaging my brain. can these benza drugs damage cognitive function/memory?
Avatar n tn It teaches you to have attitudes and behaviors that make sleep come more easily and help you get to sleep more quickly if you wake up. Also, )and this may sound surprising) insomnia is one symptom of sleep breathing disorders. Apnea is only one of them. Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome is another sleep breathing disorder that has only mild symptoms (sometimes snoring, sometimes not) You should ask your doctor about it. Not everyone with sleep breathing problems is older and overweight.
Avatar n tn Please don't give up! I had a REALLY tough time too. I didnt sleep at all for days, changed masks, changed machines, changed settings, all for nothing. Then I started taking a sleep aid. I took it every night for a week, then every other night for two weeks, and now only as needed. Now I can't sleep WITHOUT my cpap! I feel so much better. Sleep apnea can be fatal. At the very least the quality of life is much less if you aren't sleeping well.
Avatar n tn There are technical definitions of what constitutes complex apnea and mixed sleep apnea, but I was really just pointing out some cases are outside the standard OSA. I've read that many machines you would rent will not differentiate centrals, but that some give better indicators in the data than others. I wish I could be more specific, that would be a research project.
Avatar m tn My concern would be taking any sleep med without knowing why your sleep is problematic. For instance, if you would happen to have sleep apnea, sleep medications can not only camouflage it, but also worsen it. You've got the entire rest of your life to need good sleep. Becoming dependent on any med that warns to use only short term is a recipe for trouble. Besides dependence, many meds become less effective over time.
Avatar m tn this is just my experience, and I'm not on tx yet...I can't take Lunesta and ambien, ambien makes me feel nutzo the next morning, but many people are fine with it...I take ativan if I have had a lot of sleepless nights in a row, and at a very low dose...I find tranquilizers lull me into sleep, which I prefer...best of luck...
Avatar f tn It's 3 weeks since I've been having a pretty serious depression, including anxiety & sleeplessness. I was put on a new antidepressant LexiPro (15 days now), xanax as needed, which I only need to "take the edge off" when Im shaky, and Lunesta to sleep. This is the 2nd time I've used Lunesta.
Avatar f tn Hey all, so I got tired of not sleeping more than 4hrs a night after being off of Tramadol 42days and my Dr gave me Lunesta. I asked if it was addicting and he said yes but you won't buid up a tolerance to it... I would like to hear this though from someone that has taken this medication and has had to come off it... How hard was it? What where the wds like???ect.ect any info on this would be appreciated...Thank You. Jeffi.
2021910 tn?1339896686 i ask my doctor wat i could take to make me sleep since im only get 3 hrs of sleep and she told me not to take sleeping pill. she recommended benadryl (not spelled right).
Avatar n tn Which sleep aid is less addicting and less toxic, ambien or lunesta. I have heard ambien is hard on your liver.
18038250 tn?1462591719 Don't underestimate the value of a CPAP machine. Moderate to severe sleep apnea will contribute to some serious health issues -- just because you stay asleep or don't snore, doesn't mean you are getting good quality sleep. The first thing to be affected will be your cognition -- your job requires you to be alert. Also cardiac, metabolic , neuro and neuro psych ramifications stem from untreated apnea.
Avatar f tn ) it made me so hungry all I wanted to do was eat, and it did not let me sleep. Fetzima is fairly new and not much reviews. I did try to research Lunesta and Addrell together, not finding anything on those 2 together. The info I find on long term Lunesta use states if the person does not have prior drug abuse (I've never had this issue) there was reason to be concerned. I was not having any side effects from them at all. Question- has anyone else had problems with Lunesta and Adderall?
Avatar m tn The highest available dose of Lunesta is 3mg. Recently, thought is that Lunesta, Ambien, and others in this class are very similar to benzodiazepine drugs. But I haven't read much about addiction or withdrawl from these meds. Seems like insomnia would be a given, but you could try melatonin or valerian root to combat that. Good luck either way.
335728 tn?1331414412 ll add a new category of treatments called anti-depressants to the sleep tracker in the near future. Zopiclone is actually the generic name for Lunesta, so go ahead and use Lunesta (already in the tracker) to track usage of Zopiclone. We'll let you know when anti-depressants are available to track.
Avatar m tn Yes, it is possible to have sleep apnea and still have vivid dreams. Some people's apnea is worse in different positions such as on their back, so there could be more dreaming when side sleeping, etc. Also, remembering your dreams could be a sign you were awakened during them, which apnea can do as it is often worse during REM. I've read (don't know for fact) that while our dreams seem like long scenes there really just seconds long.
Avatar n tn I never tried remeron, but ambien was horrible and so was resterol the taste of the lunesta that it leaves in your mouth is horrible so there is no easy answer but I did find the ativan did help for a while and I still take it with the lunesta and I agree if I get a good nights sleep the next day is much better.
Avatar n tn You think you are not going to sleep without it so you go ahead and take it every night. I tried lunesta but couldn't get past the taste. It stayed with me all night. I also take ambein . It helps with irritability.
Avatar f tn Yes, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea earlier this year. They were surprised. They said I did not have the "throat" of a sleep apnea person, I'm thin, non-smoker, no drugs, don't snore, don't sleep with my mouth open etc. They thought it was just narcolepsy but did the 2 sleep studies and said sleep apnea in addition. I have no obstructive, no central, no hypopnea's but had quite a bit RERA's (respiratory effected related arousals).
Avatar n tn I have asthma and sleep apnea i would like to know if the asthma cause the sleep apnea and how.
Avatar f tn I once heard there may be a link to between sleep apnea and alzheimers. Is there any information supporting this or just a rumor.
Avatar f tn t know if removing your thyroid would help sleep apnea, and I doubt any MD would remove your thyroid to cure sleep apnea because there are OTHER conditions that can cause it. Getting my TSH in the normal range definitely helped my case. Do you have thyroid condition?
744415 tn?1243953376 s best to stay on schedule. My hours got messed up when I was dealing with sleep disorders of sleep apnea and Periodic Limb Movement, and sleep was so miserable I avoided it until I crashed. Then it became a habit. My sleep doctor is adamant I adhere to an early bedtime, says that works best with the body's natural hormones and gives best quality sleep. Not my preference, but like you, my preferred schedule wasn't working for me. Good luck.
Avatar f tn t sleep at night till 3 a.m.. We think I have sleep apnea I did have a test to check for it but we do not know the reslults yet. I do wake up in the mornings with blue around my mouth. Does this sound like sleep apnea to you? Do you have any idea of anything I could do to help me sleep at night so I don't have to do deal with the pain when I am supposed to be sleeping?
Avatar f tn Snoring does often accompany sleep apnea, but just because you snore does not mean you have sleep apnea and vice versa. Minor sleep apnea is responsive to self-help remedies such as losing weight, eliminating the use of alcohol, tobacco, and sedatives; sleeping on your side, and regularizing your sleep hours. It would be best to see a sleep specialist for proper management and to ease your worries. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn But there came a point where I was taken off of Lunesta because I have other health issues and i was tired all of the time and sleep wasnt a problem. Now it has become a problem again and the specialist treating my other health issues put me on Ambien. I try other things before taking the Ambien. I dont get sleepy with over the counter meds. So that I dont get so worried about addiction, I take my Xanax instead of the Ambien periodically. But NEVER EVER take them together.
