I was wondering how many women are on lovenox injections? I inject myself twice a day with 120mg. I have had an unkown clotting disorder for the past 13 years that the doctors cannot figure out why. Frustrating to say the least. When I found out I was pregnant my Hematologist put me on these injections. I was on them before for 7 months trying to figure out the best course of treatment. Now I have no choice. If I don't take them I could clot and kill the baby and myself.

One other thing about “pinching your fat”… I don’t actually pinch the injection spot, I just lightly hold the area that my husband is going to inject (don’t forget to clean with alcohol first) and I let go of it when the needle is in my skin. Sitting on the bed sort of helps me get a roll or bulge of skin/fat so that I don’t have to pinch. Just do what feels best for you, whether that’s sitting down, using ice, having someone else inject you, etc.

yes, i was on repronex and lovenox, but did not feel the way i do now. i was suppose to do ivf but did not make enough follicels so dr. wanted to do iui. he also noticed one of my follicels missing before iui.

In addition i am a nurse and have to give lovenox injections all the time and teach people how to do their own injections. I am not an OB nurse and I am curious why your are taking lovenox during your pregnancy, do you have a previous clotting issue with your pregnancies? I am just asking because I am wondering if i am going to have to be on lovenox because of my clotting history when i become pregnant?

As a former Lovenox pt, and a nurse, I feel I need to add to this. As scary as it may sound, the air bubble is important in the Lovenox injection. As well as risking losing a small amount of the medication, by flicking the air bubble out you are removing the mechanism that is designed to "lock" the medication in place. I dont know if anyone has ever noticed a small amount of fluid come out of the injection site after taking the needle out?

Did they inject him with lovenox during his hospital stay? If so this is pretty common bruising with this drug.

Is that medication similar to lovenox . I take lovenox injections once a day and baby aspirin daily to prevent clots. Lovenox are pretty measured shots that are injected into the stomach.

When I inject the needle, I slowly do my shot. I inject a little Lovenox at a time. I usually count to 5, squeeze a little in, count to 5, squeeze a little more...and repeat until all is injected. I place the ice pack on for about as long as I had it on to begin with. It gets a little harder to inject this in with a baby in your evergrowing belly. I tilt to one side so I can get a better angle and pinch the skin.

I am having to inject myself with anticoagulant after embrio transfer. I have never had problems with blood clotting and worried it could do more harm than good. \any advice please!!

My doc,will switch me to heparin when I get to 7 months. I guess heparin is easier to control with bleeding. Lovenox I guess has a harder time being reversed. Ewww. So scary. Hi there, I now have an 8 month old and during my pregnancy w/ him gave myself Lovenox injections 2x/day....keep w/ it. My tummy is fine now (well, too darned fat, but aside from that) and now more bruising and no worse for the ware. My advice regarding the pain is to pinch the flesh a bit; inject, pinch a little, inject, pincha little. I don't know fi this "really" helps, but it seemed to with me.

Someone once posted a helpful video site on how to inject pegasys and I was wondering it there is any information on how to inject procrit. My last two hgb blood test results were 9.7 and 9.4 , so my doctor is going to order procrit for me. I am going to get procrit 40,000 units per ml per week. Is that the dose that everyone else is doing? Do you have to mix the solution or measure it out to inject ? My mind is a bit foggy these days....

I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.

im 10wks 6days. Last week i went to the doctor and they put me on lovenox. I had a past history of clotts. PE to be exact . Im super excited because my baby heartbeat was 180. We are 8w5d pregnant now. Our RE recommended Lovenox/Prednisone/Baby Aspirin. How do you know when it's safe to stop each med? Nurse said it's usually through 12 weeks. But I have seen other people say online they took Lovenox until 36 weeks. Since this protocol worked, I'm scared to stop any of them. Thanks.

Listening to the voices when something is wrong can be hard to do for fear of being so wrong, but I long ago figured embarassment is better than not seeking treatment and being totally wrong.

Hi trying2conceive! I didn't use follistim, but I have given myself lots of different injections ;-) For my IVF, I used bravelle and menopur, plus ovidrel as the trigger, and now I'm on daily lovenox injections (to thin my blood). It's really not a big deal doing the injections yourself. It will probably be a little scary the first time...but honestly, once you get used to doing it yourself, it is SO MUCH BETTER than having someone else do it!

I had an ablation last week and am doing well, but am very beat up (low energy, black and blue, sore throat from TEE and polka dot bruises from Lovenox). My question is how long a time period is it usual to be on Lovenox? My doctor has said a full month. From my research, other than pregnant women, for all other conditions it says 2 weeks or less. I can't take coumadin due to a severe reaction to it.

i have factor V as well and will be on lovenox when im preg again...right now im still in the testing phase since i was recently diagnosed and not even taking baby aspirin but once all my blood work is done and im allowed to TTC again ill be taking baby aspirin and the day i get a BFP ill start my lovenox.... check with your doc...

You know what? I actually had my DH do the shots in the beginning, but it ended up being easier to just do them myself...and I got less bruises that way too. After a while, you just kinda know how to give it to eliminate (or at least minimize) the bruising. One thing that's important with blood thinning shots, though, is to NOT rub it after, since that may cause bruises.

Also, if you have a clotting disorder, the clots would pose more harm to the fetus than Lovenox would.....You need to have sufficient blood flow to the placenta in order to support a pregnancy.
