I was on lovenox for a short period of time. I could not find a spot for the injection that didn't make me cry. I'm sorry you are going through this.hopefully they can switch you to the heparin by mouth instead. They told me that they normally keep ppl on the lovenox until wk 37 b.c it's longer acting and then the heparin after that b.c it's out of your system faster and is safer foe delivery bit maybe you can get switched earlier?

my father suffered CVA in Jan-2009.In June-2009,he developed urine retention.HE was put on Foleys Catheter for 21
days,after 21 days catheter was removed ,but he could urinate about 50 ml in7 hrs,He was again put on Foleys Catheter.He was prescribed URIMAX(.4mg) to be taken once daily.USG shows wt.of prostrate to be 36 gms.Doctors have advised TURP.
My question is ,wether there is only one medicine URIMAX ,ONLY for treatment of urine retention.
He was rushed to the emergency room where they did a CT scan and blood work to rule out a CVA as they are common in their family history. All the tests came back negative. We are waiting for an MRI and to find out if it could be a blood clot. I am an LPN but have only been so for about a year. Any other ideas as to what this could be?
I suffered a right brain CVA five years ago. I had left hemi paresis for almost a year. Five months post I started to move my left thumb. Within 11 months I gained movement in my left arm. Two years later I started walking without an ankle brace. Does anyone know how long this "heavy" feeling stays on one's affected side? It bothers me more when I'm tired.

I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.
I dont know anything about the lovenox but im sure your Dr knows whats best for you.
To tell you the truth Im not for sure why Im taking Lovenox...we have 2 children and had no problems getting pregnant,etc..For some reason when I turned 30 I had three mc back to back..we were going to a fertility specialist and finally was able to get pregnant again the doc put me on lovenox,baby aspirin, and progesterone..looks like everything is going fine with this pregnancy..Im 9.3 weeks due Feb 21st.
My mom had a CVA - Right 100% blockage carotid artery. Initally on heparin drip then on heparin 5000 unit SQ
every 12 hours. 1 month after CVA, while in rehab developed anemia and ASA held but heparin continued.
Was discharged 45 days after her CVA on plavix and ASA. The morning of discharge she received her heparin 5000 units SQ . She did not start her plavix or ASA dose before stopping her Heparin.
MY MOM died 3 days after discharge of a massive PE.

Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry that you suffered a CVA. I hope you have good follow-up care including rehab. How long ago was your CVA?
There are several medications that help control spasms. I cannot tell you which one would be right for you. Much will depend on the other medications you are taking along with your general health condition.
There are meds that were originally developed for ppl with Parkinson's Disease that may be beneficial in your case.
Cancer, anywhere in the respiratory system, including throat, larynx and lungs can cause a cough, but once begun, it would be very unlikely for it to continue to diminish. For that reason, I agree with your primary care provider (PCP) and do not believe a visit to an ENT or a pulmonologist is warranted, unless the cough would recur/worsen in the immediate future.
By convention, a cough is not considered chronic until it lasts more than 3 months.
Thanks so much for your in-put! Did you also have to have your protime 2 or 3 for four weeks before the procedure? That is what is killing us! I am also worried about having no reduction in the atrial fib. beats for so long.
Medicare will only pay for a protime test once a week. Scares me also.
Our interventional cardiologist was away and his partners wouldn’t touch it and made her wait for 3 days in the E.R. for his return. She had i.v. nitro and heperin. Was that safe? She is now taking lovenox injections to see if this prevents further clots because 1 platelet count came back slightly elebvated and it should have been zero (it was 288)..
m worried about what I was reading about epidural while taking lovenox, debates on when you should stop prior to surgery for pregnancy; possibly bleeding too much. That and I do not get numb underneath my skin so another c-section would be a bit uncomfortable since I passed out last time from all the pain and I like to be aware what is going on. That and if anything goes wrong I'd be passed out before I knew so....
Lovenox is for blood clots. I had two pulmonary embolisms last tear from being on BC pills. As a precaution, they put me back in to avoid developing any more during the pregnancy.
I don't know what fragmen is, I'm going to Google it now. @ krisdy, I didn't know you can do it in your legs. The Dr was so specific about where he wanted me to do it..in the love handles but if I can alternate from legs to stomach, I will. Where in your legs?
On the expired lovenox, just be sure that nothing has precipitated out of the solution. In other words, you shouldn't see any flakes or granules in the liquid. You also don't want to see any color change, or any kind of change from the normal appearance of the product, at all. Otherwise, as long as it looks okay, using it shortly after expiration is probably fine, in my personal opinion. (Bear in mind, I'm a patient and not a doctor or a pharmacist.
