Hi! I am 26 weeks pregnant and and have had a somewhat complicated pregnancy. I found out that I am hetero for the Prothrombin gene mutation and also compound hetero MTHFR. So since 12 weeks on I've been on 60 mg lovenox, baby aspirin, prenatals, extra calcium and high folic acid. I get monthly ultrasounds for monitoring. At my last ultrasound this past Monday my Perinatologist just wanted to check my thyroid (not sure why). He ran a Free T3 and Free T4 test.

RE had me start Lovenox after 2nd beta (I have been on baby aspirin and am continuing). My question is, with a low-med positive is Lovenox indicated. RE says he is being extra cautious, which I respect. But, could it cause any problem with the baby or pregnancy if it is NOT needed. Also, could the elevated ACL have anything to do with my infertility? Thank you in advance.

Thanks for your answer. My cardiologist mentioned stopping the warfariin and going with lovenox for 3 days prior to a cathererization but said there was no need for plavix to be stopped.

Does anyone know if you can do txt with already low platelets? (127) and INR of 1.13? Going to see my Gastro this week and I am sure he is going to propose getting on txt if I am able to with low platelets. From what I understand the txt cause platelets to drop.

On 12/1 I had a complete metabolic profile drawn for a routine endocrinology follow up and LFTs then were ALT 17 and AST 18. The Sectral and Lovenox were initiated before my preop labs on 1/29, which showed LFTs elevated (ALT 120, AST 59). I am concerned that the Sectral has been toxic to my liver and want to stop the medication now. I will be having labs repeated on 2/13, and will see the gastroenterologist again on 1/21.

I don’t think your HCV positive status should be an issue in any of this, as it doesn’t sound like you’re cirrhotic. Cirrhosis can be challenging due to low platelets, things like that.

Plan to have c-section at 37 weeks due previous t incision of uterus and post op PE, also on Lovenox 40mg SQ daily. I am very concerned if I should stop taking atenolol.

It seems that if your platelets were too low, your doctor would tell you on the phone and give you some instructions. Best wishes for a positive appt. on Wed. Keep us posted.

my first pregnancy with this dr. and taking Lovenox for the past 15 days.....Had second sonogram yesterday and saw fetal pole, yolk sac and heartbeat!!! I was so excited, I was on cloud nine all day...until two hours ago when I heard my latest #'s.....already spoke to dr. he said not to worry and go for blood test Mon. He did tell me originally that the minute I think I;m pregnant I should start the Lovenox. I started it when my levels were only42!!! Good luck to you.

I am not taking anything now but Atenenol for BP 25m (very low dose) and valium off and on to help sleep on shot night. And Omega 3 organic supplements. Staying clear of iron...but someone said Protein itself can rise levels...I don't eat red meat or meat period really...but started eating turkey protein to get some protein in me. Could this cause it?? Or do you believe it is all Tx induced. And what numbers should I start lowering my dosage...

I must congratulate you on talking to your doctor before treatment and having a plan in place should your platelets go too low!!! Sounds like you have very good medical care. Having an agreement between you and your doctor BEFORE tx sets expectations so you won't be in the position of some patients who’s doc either have them cut back on meds (reducing their chances of SVR) or have them stop treatment all together. Not a surprise you want ot find out about in the middle of therapy!

He done his hcv RNA, 12 week s after treatment and it was good. Liver enzymes was same as now, slightly above normal and platelets low, but now lower- 58..and was 64. You definately need a good second opinion on this matter. Low platelets, can be found in quite a few illness,s and those need ruling out. Thrombocytopenia, ITP, APS, and also bone marrow conditions. etc etc. I had a low blood platelet count, but it was linked to my auto-immune disease of APS. This needs attention . If they arent clever enough to give you a reason why, then you need someone else. Dont give up searching.

He is having a hard time getting his platelet count back up. He said they want it over 50 and his is around 37, and they are giving him platelets daily. Are they just being slow to rebuild on their own, or could it be something more? He's very frustrated...and still stunned. How do you go for what you thought was a UTI and end up in a cancer institute? There is nothing you can do to increase your platelets naturally, however sometimes as your blood volume stabilizes it will increase on its own.

I am on week 38 and my platelets were at 22 last check. They have been in the 20s range for weeks now and I have not had to lower my meds. Hang in there!

At the hospital, we had discovered that his blood tests had come in already and the results were that his platelets were really low...27. We chose to have my dog stay over night at the hospital to be monitored. One day later, his platelets dropped even more...12 and his red blood cell count was lower than before. We have also been informed that they were giving him more meds. I am so concerned as we haven't gotten any answers yet. How soon til the meds start working?

The information you have provided are not enough to form any opinion from. If your platelet count is 80 and your prothrombin time is 14 this could be an indication of cirrhosis of the liver. Looking at two blood values is not enough to make an educated guess on anyone's health condition and doesn't explain why the doctor won't treat you. Others with similar levels have been treated. So there must be more to the story than you are presenting in your post.

It is hard to take care of my children and work a full time job. I am always so drained and tired. I gained a lot of weight because I was on high doses of prednisone. Has anyone experienced anything like this and can give me a guess when this will taper off? I want to lose this extra weight but feel so drained after work.
