My mom recently survived hypervolemic shock (BP under 4, lost more than 90% of blood) due to internal bleeding due to prescription of Zosyn & Lovenox after diarrhea. She was being treated for bacterial pneumonia. She is now in renal and hepatic failure with some indication of turn around on #s (bilirubin high, but may be due to hematomas' reabsorption), She has a Dobhoff providing nutrition as she was not eating well and thus was retaining fluid.
On 12/1 I had a complete metabolic profile drawn for a routine endocrinology follow up and LFTs then were ALT 17 and AST 18. The Sectral and Lovenox were initiated before my preop labs on 1/29, which showed LFTs elevated (ALT 120, AST 59).
I am concerned that the Sectral has been toxic to my liver and want to stop the medication now. I will be having labs repeated on 2/13, and will see the gastroenterologist again on 1/21.
As far as I know lovenox is no reason to perform a c section. If you are unsure, then please ask your Dr. why he/she wants to deliver you this way. Your wishes do count and it's important you feel comfortable and confident in how the actual delivery takes place.
t argue or comment on your doctors opinion on the necessity of taking it while also on Lovenox and I definitely agree that Lovenox and Folgard are MUCH more important rather then just the aspirin, but if he is of the opinion that they do two different things and you are not taking the aspirin to cover off the missing 12 hours, according to my hematologist, taking only one dose of Lovenox per day wasn't covering me off all day (which is where I obtained the information that it is short lived
I am currently 25 weeks and have been on Lovenox since week 6. I have a blood clotting problem. I will have a csection at 36 weeks but that is due to other health problems. I will have to have those stupid leg vacuun things while in hospital to keep circulation. I hate those things very loud and you can't move. Plus will have to continue Lovenox for 8 weeks after birth.
my first pregnancy with this dr. and taking Lovenox for the past 15 days.....Had second sonogram yesterday and saw fetal pole, yolk sac and heartbeat!!! I was so excited, I was on cloud nine all day...until two hours ago when I heard my latest #'s.....already spoke to dr. he said not to worry and go for blood test Mon.
He did tell me originally that the minute I think I;m pregnant I should start the Lovenox. I started it when my levels were only42!!! Good luck to you.
The antibiotic dose needs to be adjusted for patients on dialysis. He should avoid eating outside and should take proper precautions with the fluids consumed. If he is aware of a medicine or food that’s causing the diarrhea, then avoid it. Further avoid foods like milk and milk products, high fat or greasy food, foods that have a lot of fiber like citrus fruits and very sweet foods, such as cakes and sweets.So, take proper precautions to avoid infections and keep him hydrated.
I also have the same issue. My IGM first came back borderline and then the 2nd 2 tests were just slightly positive. I don't have any history of miscarriages. I'm on 40mg Lovenox a day and have been spotting brown blood for past 2 weeks. I have heard Lovenox causes bleeding. I don't think I need to be on Lovenox. My Rhemetologist said some docs would think Lovenox is necessary while other docs would think I wouldn't need Lovenox.
I just had a miscarriage on July 30th and I was 23 1/2 weeks pregnant. I was put on Lovenox and a baby aspirin 2 weeks prior to miscarrying. The Doctor seems to think that when we get pregnant again that I can get on Lovenox and baby aspirin when i'm 7 weeks pregnant and that the pregnancy will be a healthy succuessful one. I'm just wondering has anyone else had a successful pregnancy taking Lovenox? Just really nervous and have alot of questions now.
Is it safe to use Lovenox and Ibuprofen at the same time? What kind of side effects should I expect if I do so? (I do not experience any pain).

ve had 3 kidney transplants since the age of 19 (lost them @ 16 from Strep) and am currently on dialysis waiting for #4. The machine takes over kidney function. And after a while, because of fluid restrictions and/or continued damage to the kidneys, what fluid one has on board is removed by the dialysis leaving nothing for the badder to take in (and let out). I was still going after a couple of years on Peritoneal Dialysis (solution in my abdomen cycled in & out while I sleep).
I had an ablation last week and am doing well, but am very beat up (low energy, black and blue, sore throat from TEE and polka dot bruises from Lovenox). My question is how long a time period is it usual to be on Lovenox? My doctor has said a full month. From my research, other than pregnant women, for all other conditions it says 2 weeks or less. I can't take coumadin due to a severe reaction to it.
Does she like to read, watch tv, play games, etc? All of these things can be done during dialysis and seem to make the time pass faster.
There is a variation of dialysis that "might" help. If someone was to train to give home hemodialysis, then the amount of time per day could possibly be cut down to 2 hours. Of course she would have to do it everyday, intstead of 3 days a week.
It will not take cancer out, I am sorry, I wondered about it one time too. My sister has been a dialysis Rn for 35 years. Dialysis patients have almost as bad trouble with it, as we do chemo. They have to have the shots for their red blood counts and all that. I wish I could tell you it worked for cancer.I hope your mom feels better soon.
The last time I had Lovenox was one year ago and I was at 2.6 when I started the Lovenox. At that time I quit taking coumadin until after the procedure. The day after the procedure, I started up on coumadin and continued to taking the Lovenox until I was therapeutic again (between 2-3 INR).
You stated that you were worried about the AFib. I assume you were referring to AFib while you are off coumadin and on Lovenox. I wouldn't worry about that.
I was just recently on lovenox and I did my injections in my legs. I have to tell you the pain was not as bad as doing it in my stomach but I did end up with a lot of bruises. I am now on fragmen shots and I do them in my stomach cause my legs have not healed yet.Btw if you were wondering they took me off my lovenox at 37 weeks but I had trouble getting my insurance to pay for the fragmen so I didnt start it until I was 38 weeks and I had my baby after only being on it for 3 days.
Has anybody used the blood thinner lovenox? My doctor put me on it for the whole pregnancy. I just forbid out I was carrying 4 days ago. I'm very nervous because I've had 3 miscarriages before this.
In other cases you might have to take a shot of low-dose heparin every day (usually lovenox). I have Factor V and have had two miscarriages, although my doctor does not seem to think it has anything to do with it, as it seems to have more of an impact in the second and third trimester (I was supposed to start Lovenox when a heartbeat was detected). Both my miscarriages were early on (8 weeks and 6.5 weeks).
