Lovenox and birth defects

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox and birth defects

lovenox

Avatar m tn forums understandably give the best outcomes and successes. But, would like to know the other side of the coin as well. Birth defects, what kind, has anyone out here had negative outcomes with these pregnancies?
Avatar n tn I know that there is danger of miscarriage, birth defects, etc. I really need to hear some true stories right now. Good and bad. Anyone have any real cases they can discuss with me?
Avatar n tn Your doctor would not prescribe a medicine to you KNOWING that it would cause your baby to have birth defects or be still born. If they give you a medicine that even has the SLIGHTEST possibility they are really good at giving you all the facts. If you do not trust your doctor for some reason, find another one! If you are taking Lovenox, there is a LOT of information about lovenox during pregnancy online. You can ask your doctor, ask your pharmacist or other moms who've used it.
Avatar n tn I had a blood clot in October and I've been on coumadin ever since. When I was in the hospital for the blood clot, they made me stop my birth control pills. It took forever to get an appointment with my gyno to discuss new birth control treatment, and once we found one, it has taken another 4 weeks to get it in from the pharmacy. I went yesterday to get my birth control under way and I took a prego test before getting started. It was positive.
Avatar f tn I am currently 25 weeks and have been on Lovenox since week 6. I have a blood clotting problem. I will have a csection at 36 weeks but that is due to other health problems. I will have to have those stupid leg vacuun things while in hospital to keep circulation. I hate those things very loud and you can't move. Plus will have to continue Lovenox for 8 weeks after birth.
Avatar n tn I was on Lovenox in both my pregnancies, and just gave birth to my second child less than two weeks ago. I'm not sure why your doctor wants to do a c-section—I had both of mine vaginally—but it is important to control the blood thinners towards the end. Usually what they do is switch you to heparin at around 36 weeks, since heparin has a shorter half-life, and will be out of your system quicker should you go into labor by yourself. Both of my deliveries were induced at 39 weeks.
Avatar f tn Birth defects are actually pretty rare. I caught myself worrying about that alot too. Until I realized how rare and unlikely it was. But trust me when I tell you to please just enjoy this pregnancy and have faith that everything will be ok. Worrying so much takes away from all the joy you should have. I worried way too much and I look back and wish I hadn't. Theres nothing we can do other than take good care of our body, eat healthy, see our ob, and have faith.
Avatar f tn I know they like to limit the amount of cafine and sugar. Can you drink cafine free? That's what I did with my daughter. This time its only water cuz everything else sounds yucky! Talk to ur Dr about it and see if they have any solutions. I know my friend couldn't get enough pop when she was pregnant!
Avatar n tn Her surgerian told me whenever i was to get pregnant again i had to drink a higher dosis of folic acid to prevent birth defects, my ob prescribed me folic acid in pills which i have to take 4 of them every day im not taking no vitamins since he didnt prescribed none to me. I have to say im really concern about this pregnancy im so worried. Idk if any of you ladies had gone through something similar to this.
Avatar n tn Ladies im really concerned and cant get excited because im scared ive caused birth defects to my baby. Before I knew I was taking chinese herbs and also had a typhoid inj as I was goin to bali. I stopped the herbs at 4 weeks but wudda been after implantation. I had the vax the day before ovulation but heard the vax stays in ur system for 14 days. Anyone else worried about medications they been taking or have any advice? I just cry and cant b happy.
Avatar n tn Did you do the blood and amniotic testing? I think some defects can be picked up on an ultrasound and you would have been told by now. Is there a reason you are worried? Does something not feel right with your pregnancy?
Avatar f tn Teratogen exposure in the 1st trimester can be linked to congenital birth defects.
Avatar n tn 29 weeks pregnant, ultrasound today showed birth weight of 2 pounds and 2 onces. Have been atenolol 25mg daily since beginning of 2nd trimester. Plan to have c-section at 37 weeks due previous t incision of uterus and post op PE, also on Lovenox 40mg SQ daily. I am very concerned if I should stop taking atenolol.
1439597 tn?1283966253 I would like to comment on the use of the fertility drug, Clomid, for those women who were curious about the risk of birth defects, and give them the benefit of my 30+ years of research in the subject. Clomid has a long half-life and is biologically active up to 54 days after it is ingested. It is thus present during the development of the embryo, even when the drug was taken prior to conception.
1414636 tn?1288284680 t pay for it and it was very expensive. So now I have medicaid and the doc has perscribed me lovenox.
645220 tn?1233764146 I took lovenox for 2 months because i got a blood clot in my left calf from taking birth control pills, and then had to be on coumadin for another 6 months of anticoagulation. In addition i am a nurse and have to give lovenox injections all the time and teach people how to do their own injections. I am not an OB nurse and I am curious why your are taking lovenox during your pregnancy, do you have a previous clotting issue with your pregnancies?
Avatar f tn i give birth 6 weeks ago i had blood clots in my lungs they gave me lovenox inj? the medicaid was covering it, but now after my pregnancy ended they stoped the medicaid and i cannot afford seeing the dr or the inj. i still got 5000mg heparin but i dont use because after my pregnancy ended they swithed me to lovenox i now take only asprin 325mg am i at risk what can do about it !!
Avatar f tn This is just a informational post for any mommies who may be taking Zofran and also for mommies who took Zofran and gave birth to a baby with any defects.
1488319 tn?1359537694 t remember what the drug was that caused many birth defects and such was from the 80 and is no longer on the market. I lived off diclectin for two pregnancies (morning sickness up till day they were born) and they both are health.
1227139 tn?1462334630 Even though MTHFR mutations can affect each person very differently, compound heterozygous and homozygous MTHFR have the highest incidences of being linked to implantation failure, late term miscarriages, specific birth defects and overall vascular health. Whichever type of MTHFR you have, it should not be discounted, particularly if there is a personal or family history of any such incidences. What Are the Implications?
Avatar f tn I was just reading up on Lovenox on Wikipedia and it listed situations where Lovenox and aspirin are used together to treat certain heart-related problems. I have the feeling that the reason they indicated not taking both together is because despite the hematologist saying that aspirin doesn't thin your blood, aspirin thins your blood. It's a common blood thinner for people with a-fib.
Avatar n tn Now they want me to go back on the blood thinners 12hrs after I have the baby. Im very confused because I was planning a home birth and my doctor that wants me on blood thinners is 80+ yrs old and tells me I need to be in a hospital to deliver at my apt last week and I was 35weeks. When I asked him why he said so they can blood transfuse me when I start to hemmorage after taking the blood thinners.
Avatar f tn I'm on thyroid med (levothyroxine) and it does not cause birth defects. I also have heart problems but nothing that could be changed with medicine so my doctor and I agreed not to try any more medicine now that I'm pregnant. I've tried several before becoming pregnant and nothing helped. My heart problem has gotten worse since being pregnant though. Good luck!
Avatar n tn A couple of other larger studies have found no increase in the risk of heart defects, but perhaps a slight increase in the risk of other birth defects of brain, bone, and GI tract. Once again, these are very rare conditions so even if the increased risk is true, the overall absolute risk is pretty small. Of course, we do not know what long term effects on a baby using such medications would have.
Avatar f tn I've been taking this medication since the beginning of my pregnancy for nausea. I can't function without it or I'll be throwing up constantly all day. Some days are better than others. I've been seeing articles and my husband said he saw the zofran bad drug commercial. It says it's been causes cleft lips and pallets, and some heart problems. I don't mean to scare anyone. I don't think my doctor would prescribe me anything that would hurt my baby.
Avatar f tn I took Bendectin for my first pregnancy. Then was told it can cause fetal anomalies and defects. She now has Stage 1 and 2 breast cancer. Is there connection?
