Avatar m tn In the early 20th century, lung cancer was much less common than some other types of cancer. But this changed once manufactured cigarettes became readily available and more people began smoking. About 87% of lung cancer deaths are thought to result from smoking. The risk for lung cancer among smokers is many times higher than among non-smokers. The longer you smoke and the more packs a day you smoke, the greater your risk.
Avatar n tn If the paralysis is on the left, the infiltrative lesion described on the left measuring 11-12 mm may have something to do with it, but it seems too small to be causing compression. Generally lung cancer with vocal paralysis are pretty large, a good number would have compression of the trachea/windpipe. The distribution of the lymph nodes also makes Lung cancer as a primary disease a bit unlikely, if we are to think about Cancer, perhaps lymphoma may be more suspect.
Avatar f tn Could this be thyroid cancer that metastisized to lung or lung cancer that met to the thyroid or just 2 primary cancers. Dr.s are a little stumped. I was seen at Uof Penn They said lung surgery first then deal with thyroid.
Avatar f tn Ugh, I hate a lingering cough. Couple of things come to mind. First, coughs can last a long time. Once the airway and bronchial tubes get irritated, they take a while to get better. So the least little thing will cause a coughing jag (exertion, changing position to lay down, etc.). It can happen that it takes 2 months to get over a cough because of this. But there are other things to consider. You can get a type of asthma related to having been sick and this airway irritation.
Avatar f tn After a month of anti-tb medications, my cough still persists, my doctor then prescribed diflucan 150 thinking that I might have a fungal infection aside from tb. i just had 2 caps of diflucan but I now suspect that losartan is the culprit since I am taking it for more than a year now. I came across its adverse effect as I searched for the answer of my persistent cough. Is my suspicion right?
Avatar n tn People often take sleeping meds and anti depressants that have hcv or are treating. I don't know a lot about the lisinoprill, but I read about a small study that Losartan (for high blood pressure) may reverse fibrosis. Your doctor should know about your hcv and your meds, especially if you are treating. http://ihealthbulletin.
Avatar f tn s not big enough to biospy and probably is nothing, but my mom and husband both just passed away within the last year and a half - one from lung cancer - one from metastic cancer so I am overly concerned. Good luck to you and I will pray for you.
Avatar m tn Losartan is a really good drug with few side effects. 50 mg is not a high dose. It should not be causing any of the problems you mention. Ask your doctor.
Avatar m tn Many of my fellow workers have died from lung cancer. I think I probably have asbestosis at the least and prayfully not a Methoselanoma or other type of cancer.
Avatar m tn t use pesticides, are a smoke-free home, feed premium food and add fresh fruits and vegetables daily. What are the chances my 8 year old Lab developes lung cancer? Could the cancer be a result of living with a foreign substance in her belly for three years?
Avatar n tn I am guessing this has been thoroughly evaluated that is why there are plans to look into your stomach. Lung cancer with symptoms even at rest would be big enough to be seen on a chest X-ray, so perhaps even this preliminary test may raise suspicion that there is something going on there. Stay positive.
Avatar f tn They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's.
Avatar n tn That was 3 weeks ago and the pain is not getting any better, when i wake up in the morning and try to get up, the pain in my lung is very extreme and really hurts, what is causing this, my biggest fear is that it is lung cancer.
184674 tn?1360860493 Hi, I'm new to this forum. My mom was just diagnosed with lung cancer yesterday, and the doctors say she will need surgery to have a third of her lung removed, midsection. They also say the prognosis looks good, like it may be a slow-growing tumor that is still encapsulated in the lung. So hopefully surgery will remove everything and this cancer hasn't spread. I'm wondering if anyone here has gone through this surgery?
Avatar f tn Losartan is not a beta blocker. Instead it is an ARB. By blocking the action of angiotensin, losartan relaxes muscle cells and dilates blood vessels, reducing blood pressure. It can cause nasal congestion and persistent cough, Since you have both the cough and leg swelling, you should ask to try another bp medication. There are other types.

166039 tn?1256422867 PCP says probably muscular skeletal or stress which I am under a great deal of stress. Is it possible that I could have lung cancer and the nodule not showing change? Why is my back suddenly hurting. I do have a 16 month old baby that I pick up a lot. I have a high tolerance of pain. My PCP and pulmonary doc just tell me I am not the typical lung cancer patient and that they don't think it is lung cancer. It has been about 5 or 6 months since my last scan.
Avatar n tn Later, cough, pain, blood in sputum, and breathlessness develop. By the time the lung cancer spreads to other organs (brain, adrenals, bone, and others) the patient is quite sick, and displays symptoms related to the organ involved (for example seizures, severe bone pain etc). A metaststic lung cancer would not usually present with some palpable bumps (lipoma) over your lower back. I hope you have quit smoking by now. Good luck!
Avatar n tn The various causes of hemoptysis in adults are bronchitis, bronchiectasis, TB, necrotizing pneumonia, primary lung cancer. Massive hemoptysis common causes are bronchiectasis, tuberculous and other pneumonias and bronchogenic carcinoma. Dizziness could be due to blood loss causing hypotension. This needs to be investigated immediately by a pulmonologist since it could be serious. Management would depend on the diagnosis. Take care.
Avatar n tn Sorry for being a bit vague ,i took a course of antibiotics my gp thought perhaps i had an infection that was causing the shadowing of my lung and i had a full blood test which come back ok no infections, iv had mild chest pains and a dull ache in my back aswell as a shortness of breath no repeat x ray has been done due to i suppose as i having ct scan kind regards
Avatar f tn I was very relieved to finally find out it is not cancer but I have been thinking of nothing else except lung cancer for all this time. I had talked to a few doctors on line and was told that if a person has multiple nodules - usually they are beign - especially if the are small. As for the gallbladder - I am hoping for the best for you. Just to let you know gallbladder surgery has gotten a lot easier than it used to be. Hoping you won't need surgery . Keep me updated.
