Cancer, heart, liver, and other inflammatory conditions, and I am also concerned about how this tx has imacted in my body. The chemo fog has really impacted my ability to read and remember, so again I kindly thank you for addressing some of the technical aspects of what you have read.

Avatar m tn I believe marijuana raises blood pressure significantly. Any raise in BP is bad for someone with an aneurysm. On a separate note, be sure you are informed about ARB therapy for Marfan patients. If you haven't heard of the research, google "losartan and Marfan." Aneurysms can be treated by pill in Marfan patients.

Avatar m tn Hi, I recently found out I have a bicuspid valve and an enlarged aortic root currently measured at 4.5cm. I'm going for an MRI scan soon to get another more accurate measurement of this but I have a few questions that I hoped somebody might be able to help me with. I am a professionally qualified scuba diver and was hoping to take this into a long term career but I wondered if there may be any pressure issues that might cause any problems for me?

I also have a VERY rapid pulse of 150.

Avatar m tn First of all, PSA levels are not diagnostic of prostate cancer and you shouldn’t worry about it. There is no specific normal or abnormal level of PSA in the blood. In the past, most doctors considered PSA levels of 4.0 ng/mL and lower as normal. More recent studies have shown that some men with PSA levels below 4.0 ng/mL have prostate cancer and that many men with higher levels do not have prostate cancer. Hence alone PSA levels cannot confirm the presence of prostate cancer.

Avatar m tn As I tell everyone with dilated aortic roots, you need to investigate ARB therapy. ARBs (like telmisartan and losartan) and ACE inhibitors (perindopril in particular) have been shown to reduce aortic diameters in humans when taken in sufficiently high doses (at least the FDA-approved max). Research "losartan and Marfan" (even if you don't have Marfan syndrome) to learn more, or click my screenname to read previous posts on the topic.

Your esophagus closes up on you.
Avatar f tn Most leaky valves never progress in your lifetime to become an issue before some other disease like cancer gets you. People in their 70's and 80's nearly all have valve leakage as a normal part of aging, and the fact that you have it at 39 is probably not relevant due to it's mildness. It doesn't mean anything medically except that it's there.
