Avatar f tn The last day Ive took the phetermine pill was approximately two weeks ago so I am not sure if my body is going through withdrawals and/or if I have cause heart damage due to the long-term use. If anyone have any sound advice please share...Truly scared of the possible damage I could have cause to my body and/or heart!
Avatar n tn The recommended way to use Phentermine is as part of a calorie controlled diet and exercise program, because this will bring the fastest results, and avoid dependence. Phentermine is habit forming, which means that the body gets used to it, so after a few weeks it won't have the same effect as when you first use it, and using it for longer periods can result in withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it.
Business woman2 Most weight loss products don't work and none of them are meant for long term use, so even if you lose weight on them, chances are you will gain it back. First rule out any health issues that might cause weight gain/prevent loss, such as hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, PCOS, etc, then work on cutting calories and getting plenty of exercise.
737114 tn?1232035410 I am a nurse(36 yrs) in a family practice clinic and have seen long term amphetemine use affect thyroid function. You would be wise to go to your family physician and ask for a complete thyroid panel. If your thyroid is off it can add to the fatigue as well. God Bless and Good Luck!
Avatar m tn You make a great point that weight loss medication like phentermine is not a long term weight loss solution. If you do go back to old habits, you might expect to gain back the weight that you lost. But the good news is that you're in a good starting place and you are still motivated to keep it going. Good luck! Dr. B www.theflexdiet.
Avatar f tn Beanies are almost the same, but FDA regulation of amphetamine in the late 80's lead to a billions of dollar market wide open. In the 90's phentermine was sold as a replacement or substitute for amphetamines, but it really is so similar that they just changed it enough to get past the law. Clincial studies show that there are more heart conditions caused by phentermine than amphetamine, but it's hard for the Big Pharm to give up those billions of dollars.
Avatar f tn Phentermine is an appetite suppressant. "After short-term use, tolerance begins and can be followed by rebound weight gain. Long term data for use of phentermine shows no net weight loss." Ummm. :) I wish i had an appetite to suppress lol. But there are many reasons for finding it hard to lose weight. Untreated hypothyroidism is one of them. For me it's severe insulin resistance. That insulin loves fat and never wants to let it go. Grrr.
Avatar m tn t ever recommend pills for losing weight, because, even those that work, only work as long as you take them, and none of them are intended for long term use. Typically, as soon as the pills are discontinued, the weight comes back, unless you develop and maintain lifestyle changes that will support the weight loss. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn The mg is 37.5 Phentermine. Is it ok to go cold turkey? Is it even possible? I have tried a few times without success panic sets in about the 3 or 4 day and I just re-order them. The cost and the things I do while taking them is starting to affect my marriage.
Avatar f tn You may have withdrawal symptoms, such as depression and extreme tiredness, when you stop using phentermine after a long period of use. Do not stop using phentermine suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely.
Avatar n tn Many physicians are not comfortable prescribing multiple weight loss medications at the same time out of concern for increased risk of side effects. Also keep in mind that phentermine is not generally recommended in the long term. It may make more sense to just stick with one of the weight loss medications to see if there are any beneficial effects. It's also a good time to think carefully about how the weight loss occurred while on the new medication.
Avatar f tn I am prescribed Adderall 30mg twice a day and adapex(phentermine). Adapex is supposed to be for short term use. But I've been on it since after my son was born 14 years ago. With stopping it for 2 nine month period because of pregnancy. Adderall is newer for me. I've been on it s few months. It at first made me sick to my stomach and didn't want to eat. Now it sends like I can stay busy all day but still eat. Which I don't wanna do.
1234497 tn?1267775714 Keep in mind that weight loss medications have been shown to be helpful for modest weight loss over a short term period. Many doctors recommend against taking them in the long term because of concerns about side effects and lack of effectiveness. Medications are unfortunately not the long term answer. Have you tried modifying your diet and adding some exercise too?
Avatar f tn hi i just started the b12 shot an phentermine pills an i wonder has anyone eles tried this progrma?
Avatar f tn They certainly hear all the negative media coverage damning the prescription and use of long term opiates. If we influence or change one person's negative attitude towards chronic pain and its management than we are fighting the war against us! Yes the War against Us, Against Chronic Pain Patients. You should not be shamed or harassed into this position, "stop the mess and live in constant pain." Taking your husband to your next appt along with educating him may be beneficial.
Avatar m tn The only reason that I ask is that I've heard on of the long-term side effects on dxm use is being a bit lathargic. I'm that way now and the VA did an MRI of my brain and found that my adrenal glad had begun to shrink so, it wasn't producing enough of the thyroid hormone.....I can already tell I'm got some defects from the long term use in my cognitive abilities. I'm down to 18 pills day. 1 pill every two days. The morning w/draws have pretty much stopped.
Avatar n tn Is there any info about long term plavix use. I have been taking Plavix along with Lisinopril and Toprol for the past two years after quad bypass but I don't feel very good about it anymore. Any info as in is this medicine weakening my internal organs.
Avatar f tn I have recently been feeling full of regret, very emotional and tearful, I have been informed this amy be due to the long term use of Naltrexone, and lack of natural endorphins , so i have been advised by my CDT Nurse to start thinking about coming off of them, is this right? Other wise, my life is so good compared to what it was, I am happy, but just feel like the past keeps wanting me to remember how bad things were... could my 'miracle' now be becoming my tormenter?
