Loestrin and fibroids

Common Questions and Answers about Loestrin and fibroids

loestrin

I took Loestrin - I had a TON of breakthrough bleeding.. which I never had on any type of birth control.. My periods, however, were light, no cramps, etc. I went OFF the pill because of the breakthrough bleeding.. and it stopped :) Good Luck!
I still struggle with fatigue. With my periods getting heavier and longer all the time and the obstruction in the canal, aren't there more tests that should be done?
Wait for the biopsy report to rule out any caner and if it comes normal then you should get the treatment for fibroids. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
does anyone else have uterine fibroids and how did you deal with them. what did you and your doctor discuss. im always interested in knowing people stories who have been the same position as myself. cant wait to hear from you all.
I had an ultrasound the same visit he put me on Loestrin- no sign of cysts or fibroids. And I agree, hormonal BC is ridiculous! I'm amazed I have such awful reactions when other women seem to do fine.
You have no idea how glad I am I Finally figured out what exactly to google! I am 35 I have had the exact same thing for 5 years. 6 doctors, no sex (whats the point of crying and making him feel bad?) and waking up in my sleep. I am so tired of it all. I just started physical therapy but I am so much more leaning towards the partial. I don't want kids. but they won't do it, because i might change my mind. Trust me I have thought about this for a long 5 years and i am good with my decision.
For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.
They only last a few seconds. The build and peak like labor pains. Say I'm in the kitchen and I'll feel it coming on so I have time to brace myself. I'll set down whatever it is i'm holding and get ready. I have to cross my legs, bend my knees, hold on to something, clench my body tight, and try to breathe. Thank God it only lasts a few seconds. My 14 yr. old son witnessed it yesterday and tried to call 911. I kept signaling him not to. I knew it wouldn't last long. My gyno.
I was taken off Desogen and put on Loestrin FE 24.Gained 24lbs in 2 months. Last month while still on it on day 11 of my cycle my progesterone tested 0.04 It should have been in the range of 3.3-25.6 On day 20 I was negative -0.02 Should have been in the range of 3.3-25.6 I was taken off Loestrin FE24 and put on Ortho Cept. Day 21 this month it was 0.04 should have been in the range of 4.4-28.0 My doctor told me to take 10mg of Provera with Ortho Cept.
Did you just start having this? Sometimes out of this year I would have a period for 7 days. Then be done and 2 days later I would have spotting and then maybe a week later have a period. But it's not every month. Have you talked to your doc about this? Now I haven't had a period since July.
Last month it started on Thurs Feb 16th (an entire week early) and it was even heavier and more painful. My doctor gave me some samples of Lo Loestrin to try since I can't take the high dose ones as they cause more issues with my migraines and I didn't want to keep taking the Beyaz that I had been prescribed before. The plan was to start them this month on the first day of my period like I usually do.
I suffered a miscarriage last November and a small cyst was found on my left ovary (less than .5 cm). My doctor recommended an oral contraceptive and I was on Loestrin (sp?) until April when I started to bleed through my cycle. I was under alot of stress at the time and attributed it to that. I discontinued the oral contraceptive in April and have not had a period since. I have symptoms of a period; i.e. cramping, irritability, back pain, but no blood loss.
I have the same exact thing - and it's only at the crown!! So weird and frustrating - i've been trying everyting under the sun to get the stickyness out of my hair but NOTHING has worked - i even went to the dermatologist and they said they never heard of this before. I scrub my hair every night - it's the oddest thing because i'm 27 and never had this problem before - and i also tried dish detergent lol. Let me know if you find anything!
Thank goodness it's only a month away but they're sending me to a fertility specialists because they think I have endometriosis, possibly fibroids and/or polyps. SO since I want to have kids they'd rather a specialists do the tests and surgeries that I need. I just want you to know you're not alone and ALWAYS be hopeful. A gyno told me once that "you're period becomes your own worst enemy" and it really does. Especially when you want a child.
Hi Welcome to the MedHelp forum! Some dizziness is expected if you are having a more heavy period than normal. This is due to vaso-vagal attack following a signal of low blood volume due to heavy flow. Generally drinking some fluids during this time and eating something light helps. Anemia is another reason but this develops after repeated cycles of heavy flow. Your gynecologist is partially right. Once in a while it is normal to have a heavy period.
Since i was about 15 i have always had hurrendous period pain other than when i had my daughter 7 years ago and was ok for about 2 years and it returned. Doctors speculated fibroids and endometriosis but all scans were clear and hysteroscopy too. The specialists then told me following cameras both up and down(yes still makes me cringe too!) that the pain i had been suffering all these years was from my bowl as it was always on my lower right side....
Started with Yasmin, didnt like it, went to Loestrin, didnt like it, and now found YAZ. YAZ worked WONDERS for me. I was a very happy person, of course with mood swings, but that comes with being a woman in the first place. I stopped BC all together about a month and a half ago, and that is when all the hell started. I had my first panic attack after ending the pill.
i have three solid days of going through both a tampon and pad within an hour. i also have severe backache and cramping, and just generally feel ill, which i realize could be just normal period stuff. however, over the last two years i have become increasingly aware of this awful stabbing pain that i get in my pelvic region. i will just be sitting down and it will come on so suddenly and harshly it makes me jump and cry out.
to prescribe it to me so I could avoid the heavy periods I was experiecing at the time and only have 4 periods a year. Prior to taking seasonique I had two fibroids about 8cm each. By mid-feb, I was experiencing continous bleeding and my uterus had grown so big, and firm that it felt like it was going to explode. No kidding. I also had constant pelvic and back pain that was excrutiating. I stopped taking it, I changed to a new gyn dr who had me take a MRI.
Only one worked, which was loestrin 24. The Bleeding is moderate with smaller clots, I have cramping and these weird contraction type things. I am now on a pill called Low Ovural that is bogus I was on it 1 month the bleeding never stopped-my Doc keeps saying give it time....hope much time Lady? Until I bleed over? This whole situation makes me wish I was born a male!!!!!
After 5 months, I had to go back on the pill due to irregular and heavy periods, thanks to fibroids. After 2 months on the pill, my hair is again falling out at a rapid rate. I am hoping for a hysterectomy to finally be free of awful periods, and freedom from birth control pills. However, surgery can also be a stressor that leads to telogen effluvium. Oh well! I encourage anyone with shedding to read about the condition and see if it could be what is causing it with you.
I was attributing all this to peri-menopause. I had and MRI (for back pain) in Sept and it caught the cyst. My Dr did a VUS and saw it, I waited a month and it had grown so surgery was scheduled. The wait and see limbo land is horrible b/c time seems to be in slow motion. It does seem odd that, given your history and the fact that they know you have a cyst, they are making you wait.
they also did an endometrial biopsy as well as a saline infused sonogram to check for endometrial polyps and fibroids to see if that was causing the bleeding, but came up negative. they are stumped. my sister had severe endometriosis at 31 and had to get a full hysterectomy last year. i, however, do not have any pain or cramping whatsoever, just bleeding. do you know what else could possibly cause bleeding after orgasm?
Well now i had a period on the 29th August 2005, on the 10th september i started to bleed again, and again around the time i was suppose to ovualte, i wathced it to see how long it would last and its lasted for 5 days, i started puking day after it started and i puked for about 2 days later, i have stopped but i still feel quizy.
Hello, I had a laparoscopy and ovary and tube removal in mid March and I am still having some pain by my navel incision and by the incision where the ovary was. I think healing takes awhile. Since it has only been a short time for you, I would say, try and be patient with your body.
In our study we found that when they do occur, they are mild and only last up to 4-6 weeks With small to moderate size fibroids, it is quite reasonable to use the IUS and our study has found that fibroids are less common in women who use the Mirena. A further paper has found that in a sample of 5 women studied, a Mirena actually reduced the size of their fibroids.
I had an ultrasound to discover it was an interuterine pregnancy and I was about 9 weeks. I am now 17 weeks and for the past month trying to decide to terminate or continue. I am having a very hard time finding any info on any one with this happening to them and the risks to me or my unborn child. I have seen several doctors and none of them have ever heard of this happening and 2 have suggested termination. I have an appointment with a high risk specialist on Thursday (02/27/03).
Now here I sit, nearly a full week late, and I break down to buy one of those HPT's and the thing comes out negative. I keep feeling like I'm going to get my period and nothing...day after day. I'll post again with the blood test results, because I'm going in for one tomorrow. Obviously from the other posts, it can be possible to test negative on an HPT but then positive with a blood test (that's what I'm secretly hoping).
