95361 tn?1219870284 I am 44, female, and on four meds for HTN. I am also diabetic and on oral meds, along with various other medical issues (hypothyroid, controlled, for instance). Last night I had a sudden onset of palpitations, with the "missed/skipped beat" coming about 5-15 times per minute. My bp was not terribly high, at around 140's/90's, but I did feel light headed and "strange" during this time. I had just eaten popcorn a while before and my bg was elevated at 198.
Avatar n tn Amlodipine and Lisinopril have different mechanisms of action... These medications are prescribed depending on the status of the patient(co-morbidities or other diseases)... For example, Beta-Blockers(a class/group of anti-hypertensives) is not given to a hypertensive patient with asthma since this may exacerbate/worsen the asthma... Better a consult your doctor...
Avatar n tn I am 6'1", 195 lb, 35 yrs. I take clonidine and lisinopril for high blood pressure. I take no other medications. I do not use drugs. I do not smoke. I do drink but not very much. I have taken up aerobic exercise, but I have had to discontinue it. Just a brisk walk for half an hour and my diastolic bp goes from 80 to 115. I get headaces. My eyes hurt. The level it reaches during exercise I don't want to think about.
Avatar m tn old and never had blood pressure issues and all the sudden I started having these issues,I had some symptoms prior to the sudden occurence, eye twitching severely with eye pain, increasing severity of headaches and a real bad one a couple of days ago,It is not extremely high so I was put on lisinopril only after I took 2 days of readings at home.
415098 tn?1214856836 Hi, facial edema or puffiness is side effect of lisinopril too, although seen in few patients, can you co relate onset of puffiness with starting therapy with lisinopril? http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/lisinop_ad.htm Please visit your doctor for add on therapy as your blood pressure is still high, addition of diuretic or beta blocker will be helpful.
Avatar m tn Given the fairly mild nature and lack of any increase of severity or frequency, how long should I wait before contacting a doctor about this, if at all? I'm a 47-year-old with no history of urinary, kidney, etc., issues. I do have cardiovascular disease and received a stent 2 years ago and am on a few meds like Lipitor, Lisinopril CoQ10, aspirin, and Metoprolol.

Avatar m tn I have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for 3 months. It works on my BP but I am coughing and my nose is running.
Avatar f tn I have had trouble sleeping but I always attributed this to my couch potato activities during the day but when I'm active I sleep well. So the obvious question is, are you sure it's the lisinopril? As far as "time of day" I can only speak for my self... I take Carvedilol at 7pm, Lisinopril at 8pm, go to bed around 10pm with Simvastatin, and sleeping by 10:30, 11pm. So there's 2hrs before bed time and a third before sleeping and I'll sleep all night.
Avatar m tn m interested in hearing from anybody who has had similar symptoms, or a similar course of action before getting a diagnosis. I have never really heard of tinnitis or vertigo being symptoms of MS, and those are the main reasons I even started pursuing medical help to begin with. The doctors have ruled out some explanations (like the acoustic neuroma), but there are still other possibilities on the table (Meniere's disease, or even high blood pressure for example).
Avatar n tn It kind of sounds like a form of Action tremors, but I have to agree with mkh9.
Avatar f tn First doses of lisinopril can cause dizziness due to a drop in blood pressure. Lisinopril can cause nausea, headaches, anxiety, insomnia, drowsiness, nasal congestion and sexual dysfunction. Lisinopril should be stopped if there are symptoms or signs of an allergic reaction including feelings of swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) and hives occasionally occur.

Avatar m tn The onset of action ranges from 45 minutes - 1 ½ hours, and the duration of action is six hours. Diazepam carries a bi-phasic half-life of 20-50 hours (for Diazepam), and 30-200 hours (for Desmethyldiazepam). Valium is indicated for the long-term management of generalized anxiety and tension-anxiety. Tolerance will not develop to the anxiolytic property of Diazepam, although tolerance will develop to the sedative/hypnotic property.
Avatar m tn A partial µ-opioid receptor agonist, its mixed agonist/antagonist activity affords it a lower risk of dependence and abuse than full µ agonists like morphine. Meptazinol exhibits not only a short onset of action, but also a shorter duration of action relative to other opioids such as morphine, pentazocine, or buprenorphine.
Avatar m tn m @210 (still overweight) and on low dosages of Lisinopril (10mg), Toprol XL (25mg), and a diuretic (37.5). Over the past 4 weeks, I've experienced some morning sluggishness and ED. It's not a sudden onset; I've been very cold some nights at bedtime, had sporatic ED... and I walk 5 miles a day four or more times a week... so up to now, no one has been surprised about a pulse of 60. Only now my pulse is often @ 50 and occasionally in the mid to upper 40's.
Avatar n tn Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? Please tell what do you think of the doses to start trying, how often and when during the day? (P.S. if you think of another drug/combination may be more effective trying, it would be a great help).
Avatar f tn What is the onset of action after taking a dose of the immunoglobulin.
Avatar f tn Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor and the mechanism of the agent is to dilate vessels to reduce hypertension. Metoprolol is in a group of drugs called beta-blockers. Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins). Metoprolol is used to treat angina and hypertension for high blood pressure. It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack. My regimen is Lisinopril and coreg (beta blocker).
Avatar n tn Recently I had a stent put into a branch and it was close to the main artery and the Dr said the plaque shifted. He ballooned the main artery and I felt fine. After a few days of being fine I had a sudden onset of chest pressure and jaw pain and it was relieved with 2 nitroglycerin. I've noticed chest pressure since then sometimes with jaw pain, sometimes without and burning at times under my sternum.
Avatar n tn Lisinopril decreases the after load on the heart and decreases BP by reducing vasoconstriction which in turn benefits the heart.Since your EF is 25-30 %,so a high dose of lisinopril is desired.Studies have shown that patients with moderate to severe CHF(EF<20%) had 12% lower risk of death or hospitalization for any reason, if placed on a high dose of ACE inhibitor like Lisinopril compared to a low dose.
319532 tn?1250988576 But am really interested in how angiotensin is involved in the inflammatory process which cud suggest a vascular component to MS. The one thing that was mentioned is that it stimulates the production of immuno-suppresant T-cells or regulator T-Cells .
Avatar n tn I've been taking lisinopril for a couple of years and haven't noticed any change in pvcs. What if you try taking the medication at a different time of time to see if the same theory holds true. Change your dosing time and watch for an increase in pvcs 7-12 hours later. I'd be interested in hearing what you find out. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I still want children very badly and was told that basically, there were meds that I can take instead of Lisinopril, but I would have to stop taking Coreg. Of course, I would just have to see how I would do without Coreg... Are there any alternatives to Coreg?
Avatar n tn s not thoroughly understood and there is a wide variety of symptoms and outcomes. Your age and gender fits. The sudden onset could be a worsening from a tearing of heart valve connective tissue. See how well this description seems like you: https://rarediseases.
