I have had dental work done at all stages of pregnancy my dentist says that it's best in the 2nd trimester but can be done at anytime. As far as the wisdom teeth they told me I needed them out when I was pregnant with my 2nd I opted to wait till I had the baby. You can do it while your pregnant but you won't be able to be put out for it and won't be able to take as strong of a pain med or antibiotic.
Normally we aspirate the needle/syringe prior to injection. That's how we prevent intravascular injections of lidocaine. Otherwise it would directly travel up to the brain and can cause seizures or other symptoms such as restlessness, disorientation, etc.
There are several possibilities in regards to the seizure. It may be due to an intravascular injection although from my understanding, the seizure would occur more rapidly since its goes directly to the brain quickly.
I am a 25 year old female and I had a seizure while having dental work done about 3 weeks ago. I had been given lidocaine and nitrous oxide. Following the appointment, I went to a neurologist and had a CT scan and an MRI done. Both showed no brain abnormalities. I had eclampsia 4 years ago and had seizures which resulted in the early delivery of my child. Aside from my seizures 4 years ago, I had no previous history of seizure disorder.
More likely is that there was or is some underlying predisposition for her to have a seizure and this traumatic event set off her episode. Has she ever had dental work with a local before? or was this her first cavity? I don't know if she is prone to seizures or what the chances of this happening again would be. I will do some investigating and research to see what sort of rate of occurrence exists with seizures and local anesthetics.

Take to your OB dr. I think the 2 tri is usually better to have dental work done. they use lidocaine to numb U, which can speed your heart rate higher. Also depends on your wisdom teeth, is it a simple extraction (teeth already up) or are they impacted (still in gums). Mine where impacted & very painful had them taken out but years ago. But it is very painful. But the impacted wisdom extract is harder to recover from, it's surgery.. Then I developed a dry socket.. The worst!
This lasted for an entire month and I have NEVER used any anaesthetics ever since...I have never had any dental work since then either and I have 4 broken teeth in dire need of extraction and don't know what to do..Last month I had a bad infection in one of the teeth that bordered on Blood poisoning which went into my tonsils giving me a cyst in one of them along with a swollen face and other problems.I spent almost the entire month in bed..

For the first time in 37 years, two weeks ago when I received regular dental anesthetic my heart raced and I started having palpitations. It passed of course in a few minutes and when I went in yesterday for a root canal I asked for the anesthetic without epi. The first shot was fine, but the second injection sill caused my heart to pound hard, my chest felt shallow and made me feel a little panicy. It passed and the 3rd injection did the same.
I read that dental work may cause an outbreak if i have hsv, but i'm not sure if i do since i've never gotten an outbreak but have dated people with oral herpes, but they've never suffered an outbreak after the initial. whats the % of outbreaks caused by dental works? since i need to get a tooth removed for braces.
