Avatar f tn I've been taking 150 levoxyl for 9 months for hashimoto's hypothyroidism and have been stable with thyroid tests. Now my FT4/FT3 indicated hyperthyroidism. What could have caused this change?
Avatar n tn "I recently took a thyroid medicine (t4), Levoxyl, for 2 days. I have been having heat intolerance, muscle cramps, irritability which I see they list as possible side effects. How long does this medication stay in the body and how long might I expect to have these problems?
Avatar n tn 175 mcg for several years now. My latest TSH was 0.2. Do I now have hyperthyroidism. Does this explain why I have been having increased sweating, poor memory and poor thought process. Also having alot of aches and soreness in my knees and hands.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism four years ago and was told there was no exact reason why that happened. Around the same time I started having GI upset which has progressively gotten worse. I have excruciating abdominal pains, nausea, vomiting, sometimes associated with meals but not always. Sometimes it just happens for absolutely no reason. It takes up to one hour for a "mild" attack to get better and lasts sometimes up to 6-8 hours ending with dry heaves and awful pain.
Avatar f tn You have become HYPOthyroid after RAI and need to start levothyroxine. This means the treatment was successful in taking care of the hyperthyroidism, but now the trade-off is hypothyroidism that needs treatment (this is very common).
Avatar m tn regardless of being told Levoxyl will keep me from being symptomatic, will it also keep me from losing weight? Is Levoxyl inhibiting my metabolism from losing weight as well as gaining it. Last year for six months I kept my diet to 2000 calories , circuit trained everyday and maybe lost 5 pounds. I'm 240 pounds.....
616450 tn?1228433627 I was doing good and feeling fine for a couple months after the RAI, but as soon as the doctor put me on Levoxyl I felt like the hyperthyroidism started to return. The goiter even seems to be coming back. And, like it did in the old days, it throbs and squirms and hurts--and my heart skips beats when it does this. Has any one ever experienced a recurrence of hyperthyroidism after RAI? I feel worse now than I ever did. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Your doctor is reacting to the erroneous belief that TSH suppression automatically means hyperthyroidism. In reality a suppressed TSH does not mean hyperthyroidism unless you have hyper symptoms due to excessive levels of Free T4 and Free T3, which you do not have. There are also studies confirming that when taking adequate doses of replacement thyroid medication, TSH frequently becomes suppressed.
Avatar n tn My wife just took the RAI treatment and the doctor said she can take tapazole right after the treatment. Is it right?
Avatar n tn The peroxidase is a thyroid antibody known as TPO I think, but I'm not sure. But raised antibodies in general show how much your thyroid is being attacked, and I think yours looks very high, but again I'm not quite sure. You need to wait for AR to see this post coz he's brill at this stuff. Did I get it right AR?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism after my first baby was born. I was taking 50mcg levoxyl. I got pregnant with my second baby and I never had to increase my medication. After my baby was born, around 6 weeks my TSH was 0.06. My gyno only tested for TSH and had me cut back to taking my thyroid meds every other day. Then I got tested again around 2 months later and my TSH was 0.05. My dr told me to stop taking my thyroid meds.
Avatar f tn Dr Lupo does not monitor this forum, so it's unlikely that he will respond to your questions. You can repost them in the expert forum; however, if you'd like our members to try to help you, I'm sure they will. I'm not real familiar with hyperthyroidism, so I can't comment too much. I do know that it's necessary to post a reference range for the Free T3 and Free T4 in order for us to be able to tell where you fall within that range.
Avatar n tn Arguing this point was too much stress, so I stayed with the Levoxyl/Cytomel combo. Her suggestion was 4 days 50 mcg Levoxyl, 3 days 75 mcg Levoxyl and daily, 25 mcg Cytomel. I cut back to 75 mcg 2 days a week, as I was hungry all the time, and noted weight gain a month ago, Today, going over recent labs with the primary, she wants to reduce to 50 mcg of Levoxyl 7 days a week. Keeping the Cytomel at the current, 25 daily. I truly have no endo that I feel is competent.
Avatar f tn In 6 months my TSH jumped from normal to 111.5, T4 from WNL dropped to 0.35, T3 remained WNL. I knew my thyroid was abnormal because of heart palpitations, but certainly not that abnormal. Any feedback on reasons for such a sudden change? Avatar n tn Do you have any symptoms other than hyperthyroidism and headaches? Did you mean 400mcg, or is it really 400mg? If you are not happy with your care, you need to find another endocrinologist. It sounds like you should have more tests done. If you are having a variety of symptoms, keep a daily journal for awhile, every symptom and time of day. This made a difference with my son's doctors. I guess it's more believable on paper!
Avatar f tn I had radioactive iodine treatment due to graves disease and extreme hyperthyroidism (8 times too high for over a year) which totally killed off my thyroid. was already hypothyroid after three weeks. been on levoxyl 100mcg for 1 month. i weigh 135lbs and have celiacs. i still feel hypo and have all the symptoms...my primary care and others in the medical community tell me the dose my endocrinologist put me on (100mcg) is not enough. what is the correct dose in your opinion..
Avatar m tn I originally tried Synthroid and Armour, which did not rk at all for me, and Levoxyl (first name brand, now generic) which I am currently on. I also need to take T3. I have always felt that my body is somehow not getting all of the hormones it needs that the thyroid produces, or that it is not utilizing them well. I know myopathy can occur as a result of hypo or hyperthyroidism, but if I increase OR decrease my dose at all my heart palpitates. My labs are "normal".
Avatar n tn It’s been awhile. I have been fine on a regime of 5 day 75 mcg Levoxyl/2 day 88 mcg Levoxyl and 7 day 25 mcg Cytomel (split during the day). Stress, anxiety, depression notwithstanding, I felt exhausted, and upped my dosage to 88 Mcg Levoxyl /25 mcg Cytomel daily, 7 days. On thyroid suppressant medication, my tsh labs are suppressed significantly. This abinormal is normal for me. Since my return from the U.K. two months ago, I’ve been increasingly exhausted. I did get bit by.
Avatar f tn i was just diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and the dr.s told me that that was my magor reason why i coudnt get pregnant, now they just gave propanolol 20mg i want to know if this medication helps my thyroid hormones in its level it sopost to be and if it can help me get pregnant?
Avatar n tn Thank you for taking the time to reply. Yes, I am on levoxyl. Maybe I need more. Worried about potential cardiac problems with an increased dose....
Avatar f tn Dear Dr. Lupo; I am a 48yo traumanurse at a level one hospital. Labs were as follows TSH 0.006 very low ( critical level) Normal Range .450-4.50 ,Free T4 2.36 high- Normal range 0.78-2.19, Free T3 6.
Avatar m tn Related systoms. I was sweating profusely to the point of dehydration to the point where it was hard to swallow; my sweat smelled like vinegar; itching for no apparent reason ;I fought with my niece, this something I would not dream of doing this was completely out of character for me, I was harsh & lost the relationship.
Avatar n tn My 57 year old mother was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2005. Her doctor put her on Methimazol, then decreased the dose in steps, and finally she was off completely. She developed the symtomps again in early 2007 and was put back on the same medicine but higher dose. In Nov 2007, her face and limbs swelled up, she experiences extreme weakness and muscle aches.
Avatar f tn I had a thyroidectomy in 1994 and was on Synthroid 100 mcg for years and then my blood work began showing signs of hyperthyroidism. The endocronologist changed me to Levoxyl 88mcg and every time my bloodwork is checked I am at the lowest threshold for normal or below the norm for TSH. My bone density is being affected and I have not had a good night's sleep in ages because of the hyperthyroidism and now they want to lower my dose again.
550622 tn?1247656720 My sister has been tested and was told she follows the same path I was at first - her TSH is near hyperthyroidism and her doctor wants to go farther. She has so far declined treatment.
Avatar f tn I have hyperthyroidism and have had it for 23 years and I'm 38. I have been on every dose of Synthroid and my TSH was 66 on 300mcg. I am now taking 5 1grain Armour Thyroid pills a day. This year I have had sun poisoning three times and have had sunscreen on. I'm super sensitive for some reason this year. I also have dark skin spots on my face. Getting annoyed. Has anyone else had these problems??
Avatar f tn Please help. Test results this week show: 'A well defined oval smooth hypoechoic nodule measuring 1 x 0.5cm in the left thyroid lobe. The nodule shows internal vascularity. T4 = 4.20 TSH = 0.950. These results do not make any sense to me - and I've looked all over the internet for help. I have symptoms of hypothyroidism AND hyperthyroidism - if that's possible? I cannot see an endocrinologist for over a month. Please can you give me any clues as to what is going on here?
