levoxyl food

I had radioactive treament due to Graves Disease, and six months later my thyroid was declared dead. I was put on levothyroxin, synthroid and now levoxyl, but 3 months later I still feel awful. My symptoms are high blood pressure, constant trembling, feeling like I have the flu, dizziness, insomnia. My last blood test showed a TSH at 3.21, Free T4 at 1.0 and Free T3 at 3.1.

Caffeine is not as bad as fiber in interfering with the absorbtion of hypothyroid meds. However, it does interfere...real bummer, I know. Google "levothyroxine + caffeine" if you want more info.

Is it okay to take levoxyl and iron supplements both together on an empty stomach???

I have had trouble getting my levoxyl right, I originally was diagnosed as hypothyroid in dec 2007, but after various doses of levoxyl, started with 100 mcg, went up to 125 mcg, then my tsh was .001 and was now hyperthyroid, doctor lowered to 88 mcg, and i have been on that dose for a few weeks, I am having a wierd reaction that whenever I eat anything, or drink a cup of coffee, my whole body breaks out in a sweat, soaking wet to the point I have to shower, 3-4 times a day.

My Levoxyl doesn't seem to be helping much right now and it was recently adjusted. I take it in the morning, but I also have a latte within 30 min. or so. I know I'm supposed to take it on empty stomach, but... an hour is a long time to wait to have my morning coffee. Any ideas? Thoughts?

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism four years ago and was told there was no exact reason why that happened. Around the same time I started having GI upset which has progressively gotten worse. I have excruciating abdominal pains, nausea, vomiting, sometimes associated with meals but not always. Sometimes it just happens for absolutely no reason. It takes up to one hour for a "mild" attack to get better and lasts sometimes up to 6-8 hours ending with dry heaves and awful pain.

I am hearing positive things about levoxyl (brand). I am currently on a compound and i have been on it for about 8 weeks now. My numbers are getting pretty bad and the doctor says the compound is not right for me. My last full test showed that my tsh was at 65. The ft3 was 1.3 (range 2.3 to 3.9) and my ft4 was .4 (range .8 to 1.8) currently my tsh is at 115 but i do not know my frees right now. they are suggesting moving me from a compound of 150 to a levoxyl of 175.

Hi, My Doctor started me with Levoxyl at 50 mcg (he said at this dose it had no additional fillers - he was concerned that I was reacting to fillers which is odd as he had me on 50 mcgs of Tirosint prior and pulled me off because he thought I was reacting to Tirosint (my skin was peeling). Interestingly he tried 75 mcg of synthroid (which I do have hay fever so that didn't work) and said I really needed 75 mcgs but I guess he wanted to see how well I would tolerate the levoxyl.

Medically, the switch from Tirosint to Levoxyl was totally painless, though I did go from 88 mcg to 100 mcg, but I was ready to do that on Tirosint, as well. I feel as good, or better, than I did on Tirosint. The best part is that my wallet loves the price difference. I just picked up my refill yesterday, so I'm good to go for another 90 days.

I have been back on Levoxyl after being off it for 8 months.I felt good at first but going in to my third week -not so good.I feel very tired,legs are wobbly and like jelly at times.I just feel blah and like passing out at times.Is it possible the dose is too high?My doctor put me on 88 mcg when I was previously on 75.tsh was over 26 but I hear it corrects pretty qiuickly when back on meds.Any input would be appreciated.

After the RAI I felt great for a few months. When the doctor put me on Levoxyl, after I supposedly went a LITTLE hypo, I started feeling like ****. I have more anxiety, can't sleep and my heart gets pumped up easily. I get out of breath real easy too. I think my heart is affected and I have chest pains. I feel sick and nauseated all the time and have to go lay down even at work, so I'll eventually lose my job if something isn't done.

In 2005 I had the right side of my thyroid removed. I've been on Levoxyl 75mcg. since that time and recently was put on Cytomel .5mgc twice a day. What would result if I had to stop taking them? Thank you kindly for your information.

I am currently taking 25mgs of levoxyl and everytime I take the pill i get a racing heartbeat and heart palpitations. I have called my doctor and the nurse there told me to take the pill every other day. i tried that but then I would get the palpitations on the days I would take it. Then I called back after a week and was told to take it every 3 days. I stopped for 3 days to get some of it out of my system and felt great. Not as many palpitations and i was able to sleep.

I will probably either go back to taking my Nutri Thyroid at an increased dose or try Levoxyl. Has anybody got any experience with this drug or Evotrox Liquid ?? I recently started Levoxyl after having been off of it for 8 months.I am having great difficulty swallowing this little pill.I take it with a very small amout of diet coke to get it down and then I follow with quite a bit of water.Would it be ok to break it in half to take it?It is rough in texture so maybe that would present problems anyway.Thanks in advance!

Based on my blood test result my doctor made a derision regarding my thyroid gland, and Levoxyl 0,05 mg was prescribed, My questions: 1. Which blood test parameters are telling that I have to start/stop taking Levoxyl? 2. Can I replace Levoxyl with natural products (some diet, using the iodized salt, etc.) ? Many thanks!

I have been on thyroid hormone for 45 yrs. I switched to a generic; levoxyl once for about 2 yrs and never want to do that again. I didn't attribute it to the switch because me loosing my mind didn't happen immediately. I couldn't understand what was wrong, I felt like my mind was not there, not me, crazy. Then read in a pill book that levoxyl had difference dosages of ingredients then Synthroid did. I remember there being significant differences.

OK, I GAINED 15 LBS IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS, I AM CURRENTLY ON LEVOXYL 100 MCG AND BEGAN TAKING TWO 5 MCG CYTOMELS TWICE DAILY YESTERDAY. Synthroid is a made-up brand name. The actual composition of the medication has changed several times since it was introduced. In addition there were problems at the manufacturing facility, primarily involving quality control issues, resulting in one plant being closed by the FDA. In fairness, I believe these problems have been resolved. As goolara stated, many people take generic and do just fine. Do not purchase on the internet, and always insure you buy from a reputable manufacturer.

How is levoxyl for anyone taking it. I am prone to anxiety before my diagnosis is there any advice you can give me.
