Levoxyl and insomnia

Common Questions and Answers about Levoxyl and insomnia

synthroid

Avatar n tn I was over-medicated on Levoxyl and had totally different symptoms, that were hyperthyroid symptoms like breathing trouble, heart palpitations, fast heart rate, insomnia, anxiety. These are very different from what you have described. In any case, if you are concerned about how you feel, I would call the doctors office to discuss your symptoms and see what they say.
Avatar f tn Hi Goolarra, Are you currently using Levoxyl? My Doc put me on it and then switched me because of insomnia but I am now wondering if the insomnia was just due to the fact that I was starting to treat the hypothyroidism?
727481 tn?1231203771 I had radioactive treament due to Graves Disease, and six months later my thyroid was declared dead. I was put on levothyroxin, synthroid and now levoxyl, but 3 months later I still feel awful. My symptoms are high blood pressure, constant trembling, feeling like I have the flu, dizziness, insomnia. My last blood test showed a TSH at 3.21, Free T4 at 1.0 and Free T3 at 3.1.
Avatar f tn I don't know about Canada, but there's generic levothyroxine and Levoxyl here, just to name a couple. Some people seem to have negative reactions to some of the fillers in the drugs, so changing brands can be helpful. Smilerdeb is correct - Cytomel is T3 only; Synthroid, Levoxyl and generic levothyroxine are T4 only. The problem with taking T3 only is that it is very fast-acting and doesn't stay in your system for very long.
Avatar f tn I’ve personally should not be reading online post because it caused me to become anxious and after day nine of the Synthroid I took and a a levoxyl 25 mcg day 10in the morning and went back to sleep and woke shortly to to having a higher heart rate. The next day I went back to Synthroid 25 Mcg an experienced what I call Yucky euphoria. I was lightheaded and felt a slight high but very nauseous and had to sleep most of the day.
616450 tn?1228433627 I feel like I'm hyper again since I've been on the Levoxyl. Right now I'm on 25 mcg and my TSH is 6.9. Is that really bad? I don't show any hypo symptoms at all. Like I said, I could swear I'm hyper again. The throbbing, painful feeling in my thyroid is back too--and that had disappeared after the RAI until I started on the Levoxyl almost five weeks ago.
Avatar n tn Hello, it has been a year since my surgery and my TSH levels are still not normal and I still don't feel "right" I have been on 6 different medications with varying "side effects" from palpitations, sweating, insomnia, numbness/tingling, adic reflux, foggy head, blurry vision. First medication tried was .75 of Synthroid, then generics, Cytomel, Armour. Currently on .25 Levoxyl on 4 times per week.
Avatar m tn Hello. Any advice is greatly appreciated: Age 40 female; dxed w/Hashis in 2006; have been on Levoxyl since then; currently nursing an 8-month old (dd#3). Results while taking 88mcg of levoxyl: Free t4: 1.3 (range .8 - 1.8) free t3: 1.9 (range 2.3 - 4.2) Thyroid peroxidase antibodies: 664 (range < 35) Ferritin: 35 (range 10 - 232 Vitamin D: 42 (range 30 - 100) TSH: 1.05 (range .4 - 4.5) Results after switching to 90g Armour for 6 weeks: Free t4: .8 (rnge .8 - 1.8) free t3: 3.
Avatar f tn I have Hashimotos, and had a thyroid lobectomy 8 years ago. Started on Levoxyl and for last 4 years on Armour thyroid. Question is my last labs show my t3 triiodothyronine, free serum levels getting higher . level is: 5.4 level should be (2.0 -4.4) . t4 is 1.02. TSH is 1.520 (0.450-4.500) How dangerous is high t3 levels? I suffer from intense sweating, shortness of breath, insomnia. Is it due to the t3 level? Hate to go back to levoxyl/synthroid want to stay on armour. Any suggestions??
Avatar f tn I believe they did both total and free. Went back on Levoxyl 25 mcg and the insomnia got worse, wasn’t horrible I should’ve stayed on it but they switched me to the generic which gave me the same side effects as Synthroid. I stopped again 2020 September got blood work done and the results were completely confusing. Yes you are absolutely correct, they put me on a beta blocker due to a high heart rate, due to stress.
555598 tn?1215749084 Today I was told my TSH level is 41. I haven't received my bloodwork, other than this last bit of information. What questions should I ask. Since I had severe symptoms, the endo put me on Levoxyl 112 mcg. That is a very high dose. He did this by calling it in to the pharmacy, and he didn't want to see me in person, although I was trying to get in to his office to be checked. Should I be worried about such a high dose?
Avatar f tn A month later I noticed hair falling out, panic attacks, sever anxiety, crying and impending doom, mass amount of weight lose, and insomnia. This went on until November 24 and read side affects of thyroid meds and I had all of them. I asked the doctor to take me off and he said no, so I took myself off. All symptoms are now gone and I feel so much more like a human being. Now what to do? I am going back today to get retested, and not tellin him I took myself off.
895308 tn?1304340982 Oh and also, armour has T3 in it, which if in too high of a dose can cause insomnia and heart racing. or with the 2 combined, may be too much stimulation.

Avatar f tn There Hass to be a difference between the two drugs, I was told to get off the medication and have awful insomnia when I was trying to switch between the two and had a dose increase and I’m highly sensitive to medications in general. I guess I would like to know and logically I would believe that the two have to have some type of difference for the Levoxyl to be deemed as another brand medication. I am no longer subclinical but not very high, 6.4 at my highest.
1299122 tn?1281040416 needles were UNRELATED to my hypo or the Levoxyl and to go see a neurologist! I thought... what the ?? She said to keep taking the .75mcg and to get my blood tested in 6-8 weeks - then another ultrasound in 6months and to make an appt in 6 MONTHS! OMG! I am having symptoms with odd skin sores here & there. I have an auto-immune disease with the anti-TPO's to prove it and she says see you in 6 months? Not the doctor for me!
Avatar f tn ve been on generic, Synthroid and Levoxyl at one time or another, and I found absolutely no difference among them. However, my endo is one who doesn't like generic. He put me on Levoxyl. You have to chose your battles, I guess, so I'm keeping him happy. Interestingly enough, after switching to Levoxyl from generic (same dose), my labs actually took a nose dive.
Avatar f tn Sue, I haven't been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, but am quite certain I suffer from it. I have been diagnosed with Hashimotos auto-immune diseasewhich is attacking my thryoid. I will venture to say YES that hormonal supplements DO affect the very interconnected endocrine system. Our bodies are a whole system, not a bunch of non-related parts. I was given a prescription for Levoxyl the first month I took medication. For me, it was an AWFUL experience!
Avatar m tn If you get to much lyvoxl you will experience shakiness, insomnia, diareah, and other symptoms of hyperthyroidism. I DO NOT recommend messing with your dosage but I would definately make sure my dosage is right in oder to get on the right track for weight loss.
Avatar f tn Based on my blood test result my doctor made a derision regarding my thyroid gland, and Levoxyl 0,05 mg was prescribed, My questions: 1. Which blood test parameters are telling that I have to start/stop taking Levoxyl? 2. Can I replace Levoxyl with natural products (some diet, using the iodized salt, etc.) ? Many thanks!
Avatar f tn Hello again. I am having very scary heart palpitations when I am still. I have not had my blood tested again because it has only been three weeks, but I have went up on my levoxyl which seems to be going ok. I'm trying to get to 75mcg from 50 mcg. I'm not concerned about going up on my meds. That seems to be going ok. My concern is when I lay down my heart is beating so hard and fast. Especially when I wake in the middle of the night. What could it be? Is this normal.
Avatar m tn t exactly found my numbers concerning my intake of t4 but I do know that I am hyper at 175 mcg levoxyl and extremely hypo at 125 mcg levoxyl. That being said, I am extremely allergic to the dyes in all of the thyroid medications and also I am lactose intolerant. So, I was having to take three 50 mcg pills a day because the 50 mcg of levoxyl is the only pill that doesn't have lactose or dyes in it. So, with all that being said, I wanted to switch to a hypoallergenic pill, Tirosint.
Avatar n tn I was taking Levoxyl for hypo-thyroidism and it was automatically changed to the generic form, L-Thyroxine. After taking the Thyroxine I noticed a terrible burning in the throat and indigestion which I never had with the Levoxyl. So I am requesting to be changed back to the Levoxyl. I think some of these medications have different ingredients. I never had this happen with the Levoxyl. I hope this helps anyone who has been put on the generic form of medication.
Avatar n tn Fatigue, anxiety and insomnia can and are also associated with being Hypo. These are 3 symptoms which are associated with BOTH Hypo & Hyper. Your test results tell me that your body does NOT convert T4 into T3 that well. This is determined by the significant difference in your levels or FT4 & FT3. Proper conversion would have both in similar parts of the range if not the FT3 range a bit higher than FT4. How low your FT3 is indicates that you are most likely Hypo.
Avatar f tn Of course, many things can stress the adrenals and if one has an adrenal issue, that should be addressed prior to a thyroid issue, and yes, thyroid med should be introduced slowly. Of course, excess cortisol can cause weight gain, especially that spare tire around the middle that keeps us afloat in the water. In that case, it's not the thyroid med causing the weight gain; it's the excess cortisol.

Avatar n tn I am experiencing hair loss and thinning. Could T4/T3 help me? Is Levoxyl the same as Synthroid? Is there really anything that can help hair to grow back? I am an 80 year old woman, in excellent health aside from the loss of T4.
Avatar f tn I didn’t take anything for 61 days and still had the insomnia and tried synthroid 25 for 18 days but it was too strong for me. I did a blood test 15 days after getting off of synthroid and had a tsh of 3.2 and t4 of 1.11. 6 weeks later I finally gave in with no health insurance and went to an endocrinologist.
Avatar n tn I was put on Synthoid in the beginning for about a month and the doctor switched me to Levoxyl. I was taking 88mcg of Levoxyl and started having anxiety, so my doctor changed my dosage to 65 mcg. 3 weeks ago I started losing my hair so I went for my doctor's appointment and they did lab work and found my TSI levels were high (12) and they wanted them to be below (4) so they increased my dosage to 100mcg.
