My prior medical history is gastroparesis (of unknown etiology) and was just recently treated for a sinus infection with Levaquin 750 mg for 5 days. I was also very nauseous and dizzy today for several hours. Had a vague pain behind my eyes. Any thoughts?
I went to the doctor who suggested it could be a bacterial infection, and prescribed me Levaquin. I got tested for every potential STD: HIV, Hep A/B, Syphilis, etc. Now, let's say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose.
I was prescribed six 500mg Levaquin tablets to treat Strep Throat and a potential sinus infection. I only took 4 of the 6 pills since the side effects were getting to much to handle. I started on 3/12/2010 to 3/15/2010.
Here were the side effects:
-nausea
-no appetite
-headaches
-dizziness
-diarrhea
-anxiety attacks
-confusion, like you don't feel like yourself
After I stopped taking it, my nausea and appetite returned gradually in the following two days.
Hello about 3 months ago I was prescribed Levaquin for an upper respirtory infection. Well I did experience the normal side effects listed online but then started getted ringing in my ears. I only had a few days left of the medication and didn't realize the ringing wouldn't go away since the doctor told me it was due to an ear infection.
I have been off balance and have had visual problems and anxiety of not feeling right sometimes through the day.
About 2 hrs after i took Levaquin i was rushed to the ER with my whole left arm hurting and so weak through my whole body specially my arm, along with my blood pressure at 149/100. and my pulse at 119. I thought i was going to pass out, I was so nervous i was shaking all over. I had tests for heart attack stroke and brain scan which all came back normal so i know that it had to be the Levaquin which this was the first time i ever took it. My father in law was going 180 miles per hour to ER.
I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage.
Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects???
I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

Hello, I am on Levaquin for a sinus infection and I just found out that my sexual partner had gonnorhea. And I was wondering if the Levaquin would take care of the gonnorhea if I had it.
5 or even 100 sometimes. She was taking Levaquin initially to see if there was a bacterial infection, but the antibiotic was giving her even higher fevers - once the antibiotic was stopped after two weeks of usage the fevers over 100 degrees also stopped as did some coughing she was having (the doctors say it is rare but maybe her body was reacting to the Levaquin).

It is recommended that you follow the prescription dosage and time your doctor made to avoid any resistance to your present antibiotic. I also strongly advise that you have these sores evaluated by your doctor and to let him drain them properly. Try to avoid popping them yourself. MRSA bacteria enter the body through a cut or other wound. And the pus from infected sores may contain MRSA.
It is important that you wash your hands and avoid sharing personal items. Keep wounds covered.
I am only 27years and old and have been on Levaquin for two weeks now without much change. The external urethral meatus is also slightly discolored. Its more of a vibrant pink color but obviously different from the rest of my glans penis. I also notice that the tip is always kind of wet and sometimes stuck together. I believe this is from a slight clear discharge.
I have had two urine tests, both which came back negative.
I was on Levaquin (along with normal diabetes and high cholesterol medicines) and I woke up and had big bags under my eyes, a sandy feeling to my skin there and a pronounced red line under each bag that looked like someone had slit it with a razor blade. Levaquin-Levofloxacin,though it is an antibiotic,has some common adverse effects on CNS as it passes the blood brain barrier.Headache, dizziness, and restlessness are among the commonest effects on the CNS. Others include tremor, drowsiness, insomnia, nightmares, and visual and other sensory disturbances ,tinnitus, Mal de Debarquement Syndrome etc.
Generally these reactions subside when the drug is completely metabolized and eliminated from the body. There is nothing much to be worried.
So did mine-the RA labs--normal RF, inflammation markers, and anti-CCP antibody.
Yet my fingers behaves like RA, with morning stiffness and trigger fingers, and with the pain like you describes.
For me, plaquenil pretty much holds it at bay. Rocephin IV make it feel even more better.
Some place I read mycoplamsa can be behind RA mainfestations, not just bartonella.
Went to the Dr on 10/21, sent me for a urine test, but he prescripbed levaquin 500mg /day for 7 days because symtoms sounded like gonorrhea or chlamydia. Have now taken two of the levaquins, and the discharge has stopped, still some burning upon urniation, but have developed a dribble of urine after voiding. Is this dribble normal with gonorrhea/chlamydia, and will the levaquin clear the infection?
After about six visits I realized I needed the next level of expert, went to large teaching hospital 45 miles away, saw Ear specialist (not ENT, next level). He gave me Levaquin (horrible drug, nasty!) Seven days later, cleared up, stopped antibiotic, then got what was most likely the flu but I had the flu shot a month before so it blew through me, short but bad. Ear problem came back. Went back on Levaquin a month atter first course and now done with it.
ve had diarrhea for the past three and a half months (off and on) following a prescription of the antibiotic, Levaquin. I have not noticed any blood but do have minor abdominal and upper left stomach pains, sometimes to the point when I go to the bathroom I get chills/sweats and dizziness. When it first started I began eating Activia which helped solidify my stool but did not fix the problem. A couple weeks later I began taking a probiotic, which helped but did not fix the problem either.
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
