Had some rash but I use Piriton - simple stuff for rash and it helped. I had this kind of rash before - it is probably sun allergy. I burnt my arm in the summer and the rash comes back to that place very often. With Lamictal it was just in more places. AT the moment I have no rash. I am so far on 150 mg as I started 3 months ago. I have a full body sun burn looking rash. Have been on Lamictal one year, then all of the sudden this sunburn rash started on the back of my neck and then chest, and now full body. Dry, red skin, itchy, hot and tender like a sunburn. I was out in the sun without a shirt for about 30 minutes the day before the rash started. Has been 2 weeks now, and still have it. Actually, flu like symptoms are some of the infrequent side effects of Lamictal. Does anyone know how the side effect rash looks like or strats from taking lamictal. My problem is I just started taking it 5 days ago and now I feel like bugs are crawling all over me. I have a rash starting on my leg that itches like a razor rash. I am not sure if I am having severe anxiety attack or if this is a side effect from the Lamictal. Can anybody help me on this one… what is starting to cause the liver toxicity symptoms? Is it the Lamictal? The alcohol, (bearing in mind I know shouldn’t be drinking) with Lamictal, but with such a low dose as 15mg? not sure why I’m getting the tiny bumbs that itch on my cheeks even though the allergy tests for Lamictal stated that im not allergic to it) Any input on this subject or experiences is very much appreciated.

I have been out of the hospital for almost 2 weeks now after suffering Stevens Johnson syndrome from lamictal, a medication I was taking to treat Bipolar 2. I had a horrible rash all over my body, cold sores in my mouth and burnt lips. My liver enzymes were 1000. My eyes burned, nose burned and I got a yeast infection as a result. I feel much better as the rash is pretty much gone and my skin is peeling a little. However, my yeast infection seems to be back.

I do know someone who got it and it started with flu like symptoms first and then they had the rash and by the time they stopped the Lamictal they needed a liver operation but if they had stopped it from the beginning it would have gone away. What it is is a severe allergic reaction to the medication and yes its rare and no reason not to take it but something you must look out for. Hi im currently taking 150 mgs seroquel 25mgs Paxil In 08/08 i was given starter pack for Lamictal afraid of rash so i started on 12.

I take Lamictal, Seroquel, Zoloft and Wellbutrin. Lamictal works VERY well. I'm really pleased with the medication. Lamictal is a rashy drug - so don't be concerned if you get a rash. Chances that its the toxic rash are VERY VERY low. Only be concerned if you get a rash and a fever together. CrazyMeds website explains this all pretty well. The only side effect I get from Lamictal is the stupid "Lamictal Headache." Which can be a bother.

Is there anything I can do to expedite the elimination of the Lamictal? Has anyone had these symptoms from Lamictal? Are the side effects permanent? Thanks for your help.

quite the relief. There are more telling symptoms of the allergic reaction than just a rash (swelling of the throat, tongue, etc..). If that happens, hammer back a bunch of benadryl and go to the hospital. A rash caused by dry skin is a common side effect and there is a difference between that rash and the lethal one.

Basic ground rule of Lamictal from when I was on it was to report any sign of a rash. I had a rash when I started Lamictal and it turned out to be some form of psoriasis that was completely unrelated so don't panic about it but do tell your doctor.

Been taking Lamictal "slowly " for 2 1/2 weeks ---I believe I am starting a slight rash ...don't feel it...but... how do I know when to seek medical attention?

Your doctor needs to research lamictal on the web because there is an extremely serious rash that can affect a person taking lamictal. Not saying you have the rash, but your doctor should know this. You need to see a psychiatrist that knows these drugs.

I went to the ER and was told to stop my medication, which I did(they put me on steroids for the reactions). It has been 3days now since I had last taken lamictal and the mouth blisters and rash in my vaginal area is still there. Not to mention, I am feeling the withdrawals horribly! I feel light headed, unbalanced, confused, so exhausted, my eyes are very sore, I feel depressed, mood swings from hell, my spine tingles and today my cheek went numb for about 30minutes!

m sure your psychiatrist has been through this but it will take a couple of months to build up to a proper dose because Lamictal must be raised at a slow rate because of the potential of a rare rash (which is only 1 in a thousand people who take it and lowers after the first six months). I and many people found Lamictal to be quite tolerable as a medication but I remember when I was on it it took a while to feel it working at the dosage rate required.

Unfortunately, we have only tried lamictal and my daughter got a horrible ringworm rash, which could have been actually triggered by lamictal so she's now on keppra. Thank you!

I did develop a rash when first starting Lamictal, but I didn't have any of the other allergic signs that went with it. My shrink wasn't too concerned with it, as the original studies discussing the allergic reaction included patients that had their dose increased far to quickly. I had a BP friend who discontinued Lamictal use, for one reason or another, decided to get back on it and jumped back up to her full dose of 400mgs.

DEFINITELY, you have to go to the ER now and bring your lamictal and other meds with you. You have to go now, because if it is the bad rash, you have to be treated immediately. I got the bad rash, and we caught it in time. It isn't for the psychiatrist to treat but a medicine M.D. I am 12 hours behind your post, so I hope you followed Lexis advise. If it isn't something to worry about, let the doctor decide that, not you. They have to look at it. That is what happened to me.

thank you for the info on Lamictal, but does anyone take Geodon? I take 40mg Geodon and Lamictal. I do feel so much better,but i was wondering more about the Geodon side effects. I feel alittle more anixous im wondering if it is the Geodon.
