when i grip anything with my right hand, like scissors or any hand tool, and squeeze, i get a sharp pain in my middle knuckle, i noticed it about a year ago, it was not bad at all at first, but over the last week its become a constant. all other knuckles on both hands are fantastic otherwise,im dont recall any injury or reason why this is happening, any ideas?

In good health. Pricked by thorn in knuckle. No remnants left behind. Small hard lump formed 7 days later all swelling had subsided and otherwise all else appeared normal and functional. 16 days after ***** accidently hit the small hard lump as well as slightly overflexing joint. Now slight pain upon mornings initial flexions of the joint. As day goes on feels better as I use it. Come mornining, pain and stiffness again until its used. The area is not red, hot. Can fully flex and straighten.
I'm not entirely sure how I did it, but I am concerned my pinky knuckle is broken. It could have been from work the other day, where i crushed my hand between two roll cages, or a gym injury in one of my subsequent workouts.
Weirdly, I only noticed a bit on pain the day after the work injury, and it further increased yesterday, and to the point it is today.
t any pain at all, which leads me to believe it started because of this reason. The knuckle shows no signs of injury and it mostly hurts when I haven't been using it for a while. If I'm actively using it most of the time, it feels like nothing is wrong. I know that the finger was rolling horizontally between me and the bed which may have caused something to happen?
Both of those are unlikely as I have full range of motion with the finger and no pain in normal function. It also doesn't hurt when I press or rub the affected area. It only hurts when I pull the finger across the rest of the fingers (either in front or behind) laterally. Or if I make a tight fist.
So i drilled a hole sideways through my pointer finger knuckle two nights ago the drill bit went over an inch and a half into my hand through the outermost knuckle to slightly into the second knuckle b4 i could stop the drillpress, in excruciating pain what can i do at home as i have no maw money...

I was rubbing/massaging my left hand last night during dinner and all of a sudden I had a sharp pain at the base of my index finger's knuckle. It's hurt ever since and there's some swelling. Of course the pain has travelled up the arm - may be due to the fact that I'm 'babying" the left hand now. But, I wear a ring on my left thumb and it was a bit of a task to remove it this morning because of some swelling. Any suggestions?
I knew it would be sore, so I just iced it and took Tylenol and ibuprofen for the pain. A few days later it was very painful and my hand around my knuckle area was swollen. I went and had it checked for a break and they're was no visable break on the xray. My Dr put a cast/splint to keep me from bending it. Since it's only the hard cast part on the bottom of my hand and wrapped, I take it off at work.
Also, I hit a knuckled on another finger when i hit the tile counter, and that knuckle is still sore as well. As with the pinky, minimal swelling and bruising. Is a month normal time frame for healing, or have I possibly damaged the knuckle as well?
I didn't even consider going to the doctor b/c I've definitely lived a life of hard knocks, horseback riding, firefighting, hiking, etc....and didn't consider this to be any sort of significant injury.
while working in the basement at work, I reached into a box and hit my hand pretty hard right on the knuckle of my right hand, middle finder. This happened in November. I figured the bruise and soreness would heal. It is Decmeber 23, and it occasionary will re-bruise and become painful again. I find no particular reason why it just all of sudden bruiese again and hurts. (I did not punch anything, but that is what the knuckle at the base of the figner on my looks hand implies.
The most pain arises deep in the wrist joint if I were to lean into my hand flat on the floor in the direction of my index finger knuckle while on my hands and knees, moderate pain arises over the scaphoid and in the insertion point of the tendon with extension of the hand while just standing up with no pressure of any sort, and mild pain over the lunate with flexion of the hand while standing up. This has been on going for many months and was not caused by any injury to the hand.
i had a total middle knuckle replacement on my right hand the knuckle that forms a fist, i had more range of motion with my old arthritis knuckle that i was born with, i will not never ever have another knuckle replacement i will keep the joints i was born with , i would rather have them because they have more range of motion and the silicone knuckle only provided 45 degrees of motion, if you go beyond that it will break, I regret having this operation, because i was better off with the knuckle
5 wks ago, just sore on the inner knuckle, could not find any insect bites, no injury, no hang nail. Swelling went down after several days, then it came back with a vengence with severe swelling and lots of pain but this time only in the fingertip. The pressure was so intense that I tried to drain it, I know I shouldn't have. Nothing would come out. The pain was extreme and I did hot salt water soaks several times a day which was worse than any pain I have ever experienced!
The week after I went skiing I went to the climbing gym as normal and after an hour and a half of climbing my left arm was in pain with the source of pain coming from my elbow.
I then went climbing 2 days later and my elbow started to hurt after about 2 sets and as I continue to climb the pain got worse to the point were I cannot bend my hand backwords without a pain.
If there is no fracture then anti-inflammatory pain killers help bring down pain and swelling. Usually simple knuckle fractures are treated by using a splint and taping the injured finger with the adjoining finger. Surgery is required if there is alignment problem, angulation problem or displacement of the fracture ends. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. Take care!
I am having burning sensation on the side of my index finger between the middle joint and top joint. There has not been any injury, no blisters, skin breakage,tingling or discoloration. The burning seems to be closer to the middle joint and more tender if I put any pressure on the joint. I had surgery many years ago for carpal tunnel but this doesnt feel anything like that. It is in only one finger and always on the side. I have tried using an anti imflamatory cream with no relief.
After initial swelling of my whole finger and tendon pain, I remain with a swollen knuckle and below the knuckle but the top of my finger is normal. I cannot bend it as far as my other fingers and it is painful to go past 90 degrees with it. Will it heal on its own, or is there a way to prevent permanent limitations of it?

If you have other joint issues then possibility of rheumatoid arthritis and gout should be ruled out first. Both can cause extensive joint pain with rash. If you have RA then you will have positive rheumatoid factor and high C-reactive protein and ESR. High uric acid levels in blood go more in favor of gout. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Take care!
What you are describing sounds concerning for a boxers fracture, which is a fracture of the metacarpal neck right near the knuckle...It is a very common injury from punching things, especially walls...
I would strongly suggest getting an x-ray to evaluate for a fracture...Based on the history and symptoms you describe I would be suprised if you didn't have a fracture of the metacarpal neck.
Plus you probably never did any organized form of rehab for the injury so that probably has something to do with it as well. No doctor is going to amputate something on their first attempt to reduce pain! They will try pain meds or maybe some type of surgery to shave off where the bone has over calcified and rebreak it and set it and rehab it...but i doubt they will ever amputate unless you ask them to specifically and no other option has worked. Try to go to a hand specialist.
