My son was on Keppra, (750mg 2X day) his doctor changed him to KeppraXR same dosag because he was having more seizures. Since he has been on Keppra XR, still seizures and constant jerking movements in hands and very unsteady when standing. Not getting enough sleep @ night. Took him to ER last night, increase dosage to 2000mg per day. His hands jerk from about 11am to about 7pm or 8pm, then he has a seizure. Sleeps about a hour & half. Have anyone had these problems taking Keppra XR?

I am also currently in the same page. Taking keppra xr 3,000mg which helped but has not fully controlled my partial siezures so recently I just got added to vimpat as well. And want to get pregnant. Also on giving your child epilepsy I've been informed that it is not inherited. Hope to hear more about your story.

My son was dx with Seizures in October they started him on Keppra 3 tablets 750mg XR at 7pm. My son was the most cheerful lovable respectful great student, all around the best child you would want to be around. My son has turned into a ranging machine, he went from straight A's in school to failing, he has zero interest in getting out of bed, showering, eating all of the above.

could anyone give me ideas as to where or who i would contact to get some patient assistance for acute hep c treatment? I am not working, cannot wait on s.s. disability. I try to do some construction work when available, but it is really rough.

I read something on rxlist about moodswings and irritibility related to Keppra. It's believed that Keppra makes your brain "dump" Vitamin B6 at times which lowers dopamine or seratonin levels and makes you feel horrible. Does your daughter take vitamins? I'd try some Vitamin B6 if her multivitamin doesn't contain it. I started taking Trader Joe's High Potency vitamins and feel much, much better since starting. Good luck.

My son is 19 years old and has Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, he's on Keppra XR, Clonazepam, and Banzel. There's a chance lamital will be added. Is this too many meds. I have heard 2 or 3 meds at one time, no more. What affect does the drugs have on LGS?

put on Keppra- felt awful for 2 weeks, then started taking the fioricet again. I am still on the Keppra as well as Wellbutrin XR. I would suggest talking to your doctor about trying keppra xr. Lamictal is a great drug, but it also exacerbates myoclonic jerks, which are a warning a big seizure is coming. Don’t give up hope. I suggest a descriptive headache diary. The answer will be in there somewhere!

I have olfactory smell diagnosed 12-12-12 and on Lamictal XR 400mg they uped it twice so far last 3 times smelling burning didn't eat for 11 days lost 15 pounds..Does it ever get better or keeps getting worse Cause I am 100 percent sick of all this!!

Could the Keppra be causing the new cardiac problems? Would a trial period of stopping the Keppra help? Should all her doctors get together and know what each other is doing? My mom is normally very healthy and active. This event is causing a slight depression that she is fighting. She doesn't like being like this and definitely does not want a pace maker. He said my the tegretol was not carrying over until I took my night-time dose. So I was put on XR tegs. and prescribed klonipin for the jerks. Last month I was taken off 100mg of dilantin and I had a seizure on 3/30/08 and I asked to be put back on 400mg of dil, 800mg of teg, and 1500mg of depakote. The Dr. OK's my request. But again, I was stressed. Could stress be over-riding the medication? My psych. is putting me on Zoloft when I go back on 4/25.

KEPPRA XR (levetiracetam)- two 750mg twice daily LaMICtal (LamoTRigine)- 1 1/2 200mg twice daily A multivitamin and a daily prenatal with 800mg Folic Acid for vitamin sources. I did try Topimax, and later Vimpat(?), but it was causing too many stomach issues. I am currently having my Thyroid and hormones tested to see if any of those May have a role in my occasional seizure. I was reading the post about suboxone prices ,someone wanted to know if the was any assistance for the cost . I took Effexor Xr 37.5 mg for a month and decided to get off the medication. I will never again take this medication. The "brain zaps" are horrible and the feelings are just as bad. I thought since I wasn't on this drug long enough that I wouldn't have side-effects, wrong! I'm also not happy with the way this drug is being marketed and the lack of mentioning of these "zaps".

The vet did blood work and diagnosed him with idiopathic epilepsy. She put him on 500 mg of keppra ER twice a day. He had a seizure every two weeks for the next month. When we went back to the vet she put him on 64.8 mg twice a day phenobarbital as well as adding another 500 mg keppra to what he was taking. Hello, I'm newly diagnosed with partial epilepsy and I have several non convulsive seizures daily. I tried to take Keppra for 3 weeks but it made me VERY sick. Now I'm suppose to take Oxcarbrazepine,. My question is "what happens to my brain if I don't take meds"? I'm wondering if the non convulsive seizures will progress to gran mal ? I have TBI (traumatic brain injury) so my spelling & vocabulary are limited, so please excuse my errors.

Hi JKJ, I have a similar case of frontal lobe epilepsy with similar pattern of seizures occurring only during sleep, a male patient, 14 years of age, who has been on oxcarbazepine i.e Trileptal ( oxrate here in India) for the last few months and we did observe disturbances in his memory. The episodes of memory disturbances increased as we increased the dose, but it wasn’t so worse as in the first instance. We already tried Tegretol (carbamazepine) for him and it didn’t work.

There are a lot of prescription assistance programs, like PPA, NeedyMeds, etc, but until you can get signed up for one, I sure hope that your Dr. can help you with samples. I know my Dr. is always had a lot of samples of various anti-depressants. Good luck, and I sure would suggest not going cold turkey. I know when I lost my job, that was hard enough, but it's sad that we have to go without medical help and prescriptions because we can't afford them!

The seizures stopped on there on in the emergency room. The emergency room put her on Keppra, that is when the real nightmare stared. She stopped sleeping, had wild mood swings, hallucinations, rage, screaming and attaching (no behavioral problems ever before this). She would hug me for an hour at a time, and leave blood scratch marks on my back. Anxiety was very high. We took her off the Keppra (a call to the children’s hospital confirmed to do this).
