keppra xr dosing

My son was on Keppra, (750mg 2X day) his doctor changed him to KeppraXR same dosag because he was having more seizures. Since he has been on Keppra XR, still seizures and constant jerking movements in hands and very unsteady when standing. Not getting enough sleep @ night. Took him to ER last night, increase dosage to 2000mg per day. His hands jerk from about 11am to about 7pm or 8pm, then he has a seizure. Sleeps about a hour & half. Have anyone had these problems taking Keppra XR?

I am also currently in the same page. Taking keppra xr 3,000mg which helped but has not fully controlled my partial siezures so recently I just got added to vimpat as well. And want to get pregnant. Also on giving your child epilepsy I've been informed that it is not inherited. Hope to hear more about your story.

My son was dx with Seizures in October they started him on Keppra 3 tablets 750mg XR at 7pm. My son was the most cheerful lovable respectful great student, all around the best child you would want to be around. My son has turned into a ranging machine, he went from straight A's in school to failing, he has zero interest in getting out of bed, showering, eating all of the above.

ALSO, SHE HAD GAINED ALOT OF WEIGHT ON DEPAKOTE XR, KIDS MADE FUN OF HER THAT SHE WAS FAT...NOW, ON KEPPRA XR, SHE ONLY EATS HALF OF WHAT SHE DID ON DEPAKOTE AND IS A SLENDER 5'11 TEENAGE GIRL.

My son is 19 years old and has Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, he's on Keppra XR, Clonazepam, and Banzel. There's a chance lamital will be added. Is this too many meds. I have heard 2 or 3 meds at one time, no more. What affect does the drugs have on LGS?

put on Keppra- felt awful for 2 weeks, then started taking the fioricet again. I am still on the Keppra as well as Wellbutrin XR. If you can find the time, I would greatly appreciate some insight to rest my mind before my appointments! I will keep checking back hoping for a response. Thank you for your time.

I would suggest talking to your doctor about trying keppra xr. Lamictal is a great drug, but it also exacerbates myoclonic jerks, which are a warning a big seizure is coming. Don’t give up hope. I suggest a descriptive headache diary. The answer will be in there somewhere!

If your wanting to just take both dosesbat night (which I assume its because you get drousy) I wouldnt advise doing so without asking your doctor who prescribed you the med. Your dosing times are so far apart, maybe taking both doses at night could over medicae you, im not quite sure what can happen but being that your original dosing times are so far apart, I wouldnt do it without asking the doc first just to be on the safe side!!

So after staying overnight and at the vet the next day he came home and has been on Keppra and phenobarbital. 500mg 2x a day Keppra and 60mg 2x a day pheno. He has the side effects which are lessening but hasn't been as bad as I read could be. He is very responsive and is pretty much himself besides the side effects(weak legs, tired). It's been 6 days and no seizures so far. Will be going to vet in a week for check up and blood test again. I am so on edge..

I have olfactory smell diagnosed 12-12-12 and on Lamictal XR 400mg they uped it twice so far last 3 times smelling burning didn't eat for 11 days lost 15 pounds..Does it ever get better or keeps getting worse Cause I am 100 percent sick of all this!!

I took Effexor Xr 37.5 mg for a month and decided to get off the medication. I will never again take this medication. The "brain zaps" are horrible and the feelings are just as bad. I thought since I wasn't on this drug long enough that I wouldn't have side-effects, wrong! I'm also not happy with the way this drug is being marketed and the lack of mentioning of these "zaps".

I would like to know if it is alright to take 200 mg zoloft, 150 mg effexor xr, and 300 mg gabapentin 3 times a day, each day?

I have been taking .5 XR Xanax twice daily and 150mg Effexor once daily to control Panic Disorder for 12 years. Everything stayed under control. The most extra I ever took was one or two .25 Xanax. During the month of February a pain management doc added on different doses and kinds of narcotics to ease severe stenosis pain along with 3 steroid epidurals. At the end of the month I had a bad reaction to the narcotics and stopped taking them.

The max dose for Ativan in a day is 6mg. Ativan should last in your system longer then say a Xanax. Taking a 0.5 is not double dosing but you should let your doc know that the 1 mg is wearing off faster than you would like. If you need long lasting relief there is always Xanax XR.

He said my the tegretol was not carrying over until I took my night-time dose. So I was put on XR tegs. and prescribed klonipin for the jerks. Last month I was taken off 100mg of dilantin and I had a seizure on 3/30/08 and I asked to be put back on 400mg of dil, 800mg of teg, and 1500mg of depakote. The Dr. OK's my request. But again, I was stressed. Could stress be over-riding the medication? My psych. is putting me on Zoloft when I go back on 4/25.

KEPPRA XR (levetiracetam)- two 750mg twice daily LaMICtal (LamoTRigine)- 1 1/2 200mg twice daily A multivitamin and a daily prenatal with 800mg Folic Acid for vitamin sources. I did try Topimax, and later Vimpat(?), but it was causing too many stomach issues. I am currently having my Thyroid and hormones tested to see if any of those May have a role in my occasional seizure. My son is 17 started taking Seizures around 7 months ago he has been on Keppra 750mgs XR 3 @ 7pm along with V-b6 My son is a complete different child. Hello. My therapist has suggested changing from effexor xr to the chemically similar pristiq. I've been on 150mg per day of effexor for several years, and have experienced withdrawal effects before due to missing doses for a few days, so I know what that's like. To start, I'm taking 50mg pristiq and 75 mg effexor daily for 7 days, and then 50mg pristiq and 37.5mg effexor for the next 7 days. My therapist has suggested this dosing to make the transition gradual.

I was 18 when my seizures started . I had never been sick or had any health problems before I got pregnant . I was 5 months pregnant when they started and now at 22 the only thn they have found is an arachnoid cyst on the right side with a CT but now 30 test later they can't find it anymore . It only happins when eating or drinking , A sip of water can set it off, or half way through a meal with a mouth full of food, neurology dept at ucsf wired me up on a eeg for a week , watching what they are calling siezures but didnt get a reading on a siezure, Tried a siezure medication keppra no results, next step is tegratrol xr ,The doctors told me they are baffled and dont know what it is, What about Candida yeast cest , Toxic liver ????

I also take Keppra but have never had any problems at all. I suffered with depression for 11 years and came of the medicine fully just before I went on Keppra, and yes I have days where I do feel depressed but with any illness you do have days where you feel depressed even suicidal. So my advice is don't necessarily put it down to Keppra. Talk to the doctor who prescribed Keppra to you and see if you can be referred to a Psychiatrist to talk it through and find out if it is the tablets!

aggresion is a side effect of keppra, doctors sometime call it the "keppra rage". i didn't have the aggression, but i had the learning problems. bad memory and lack of concentration was the worst of it. it was so bad because i'm at varsity and you're basically just a number so they don't really care.

I have no health insurance. I was finally got a really basic coverage, but it doesn't cover keppra. i've been taking keppra for a 2 months. I was switched to phenobarbitol for when I run out. since keppra is not on the charity's formulary. I hope to God that I cant find some source of keppra before I run out. The phenobarb is scary.
