Common Questions and Answers about Is generic adderall xr just as good

Would it be better to just increase the Effexor XR for my body weight? Or is too early to do that? Does the generic Adderall have the same effect as dexedrine? I felt nothing the day I took the Adderall, so did not take it again. The rest of the week I was really snapping at my students. Is there a rebound effect from the generic Adderall? My other choice is Wellbutrin for the Limbic ADD.
My daughter just started taking 10mg of adderall xr and it doesn't seem to be working as well as the generic ritalin was. Does it take awhile for it to have it's full effect? This is only her third day on the medication. Any thoughts?
Hi JoJo, I am a 30 yr old female and I take a combo of Adderall XR and regular Adderall Here is my schedule: 6am: 20mg xr 10am: 10mg regular 1pm: 20mg xr AND 10mg regular 4pm: 10mg regular So, it's by bodyweight 1mg per 1kg of weight: I weigh 70kg, so 70mg is just right for me, I find that it lasts through 8-9pm, then I take 1mg klonopin to help with the "drop off" and to help me fall asleep.
Eighty percent of patients experienced at least a 30 percent reduction in their ADHD symptoms based on the ADHD Rating Scale (ADHD-RS) score when taking ADDERALL XR. Patients with ADHD taking ADDERALL XR demonstrated significant improvement in driving safety and performance, as measured by a 2.5 point reduction in their average Driving Safety Score (DSS), compared to 2.5 point gain among those on placebo (P<.005).
I have been taking the "generic" Adderall 20 mg tablet for some years now (6-7) I requested the generic since it is cheaper, but since it is a tablet and not a capsule, Im aware that all that time it was IR, not XR as the prescription requested. I took a break for about 6 months, and now, going back to school I have started back up on Adderall 20 mg XR capsule.
I began taking adderall for studying my freshman year at college. Then I got a pretty nice prescription for them in October 2008 but did not take nearly as much as I was prescribed. But now I have built up quite a dependency on them. Before I would take 20mg XR a day early in the morning to study alll day then 30 now 40mg XR which is also beginning to lose its effects. I am currently an undergraduate and will be taking the MCAT on September 4th.
Right before I left my pharmacy job (7 weeks ago) I was informed Adderall XR was coming out in generic form, so if he prefers the XR it would be a good idea to get a price on generic. It doesn't make sense to me why he keeps quitting and restarting them, you said why but that doesn't make sense. I know those feelings described above and I'm glad I'm off Addrerall, though inside I still want more because I've gained so much weight.
What were your experiences with Ritalin, Provigil? How is Adderall different? Should I just expect to not feel sleepy or is it also going to help me remain focused, for instance when I'm in a meeting and have to participate in the discussion? The Savella 12.5mg made me sleepy from Day 1. When I took ity with the Plaquenil, I felt more sleepy, nauseated and woozy (if that's a real word) LOL. Thanks for sharing with me.
So, Adderall seems to generally work fine in terms of focus, ability to stay on task, get my work done, etc. Thing is... Since Ive started taking Adderall, I've started chain smoking like four packs a day. I used to smoke only about one and a half packs a day the past few years. But since I started taking adderall, my smoking has skyrocketed.
Also are you taking regular Adderall or Adderall XR? The XR has been a lifesaver for me, I take two at 7am and I only notice it start to wear off at about 1 am. Good luck with your studies!
Are you taking Adderall XR or Adderall? Is it a capsule or a tablet?
I have a love/hate realationship with the Adderall. Although I am prescribed 20 mg Adderall XR 3 times a day, I never take all 3 pills a day. Right now I am down to 1 pill a day. I love the fact that the Adderall gives me energy but I hate that after a few days of taking it I feel physically exhausted. I have tried to give up the Adderall but I always go back to it because taking the Celexa alone doesn't work.
I was wondering if anyone has any advice about getting off adderall...I have been taking it on and off without a prescription for about three years and with a prescription for the past five months. I was prescribed a dose of 30 mgs a day but I have quickly increased my own dosage to 70--80 mg XR per day. I know I cant manage my use of this drug and I have recently become really worried about my health (Im a 22 year old formerly athletic female)...
For years, I was on and off Adderall XR, anywhere from 10mg-60mg. I recently went back on them, started off with 10mg, worked my way up to 70mg. The 60mg XR in the morning, then 20mg IR in the afternoon...... worked wonderful! Was out for a few days, started back on the 60mg and it did NOTHING! After 2 hours I took 2 of the 20mg IR.....still nothing! I know it was stupid, but today I took a total of 120mg in the morning, again...not a thing! Just my usual sluggish, sleepy, moody self.
I have had virtually no adverse reactions, my blood pressure is good and stable, appetite is good, and I can sleep any time day or night. I just don't get this ... Doesn't this seem obscenely high??
I understand where you are coming from. I take Adderall XR 30mg twice a day, and Adderall 30mg tablets, I usually break the tablet into four, and only take 1/4 as needed. I am really paranoid all the time, about everything. I also get really nervous when i am in social situations. I have bitten my nails to the point where they actually hurt and look awful.
For those who have kicked adderall use or abuse a good decussion about the period of time from stopping the adderall to a period in your life where you can funtion properly again with a smile.
I've just stopped taking Effexor XR 7 days ago....and it's been the worst seven days of my life. I started off taking 150mg for about 2 years and have been tapering off the last couple of months, down to 75mg, 37.5mg, then cold turkey. I am so mad at my shrink for not ever informing me of the horrible side effects I was someday going to face.
According to the regulatory agency, they received safety information concerning the association of sudden deaths, heart-related deaths, and strokes in children and adults taking recommended doses of Adderall and Adderall XR. This risk of Adderall death seemed particularly high for individuals with structural heart abnormalities. In response to these findings, the FDA issued an advisory warning about the possible risk of death, but allowed the drug to remain on the market.
I've been taking Effexor XR for at least five years, and before that I was on another brand of anti-depressant. I have tried to wean myself off this medication before, as I hope to become pregnant, and it's effects on the unborn child were/are still unknown. I decreased from 150 mg to 75 mg, then spent about two weeks on 37 mg then stopped, but terrible withdrawl symptoms forced me to take it again 150 mg. I also kept taking the contraceptive pill.
I am a 47 year old female. Earlier this year, my Dr. and I decided that the effectiveness of Zoloft for my anxiety had waned after 3-4 years. He choose Effexor XR as a new med. After taking 150 mg of the Effexor XR for a little over 1 month, I decided it wasn't right for me. My libido became non-existent, I was gained weight, my digestive system seemed out-of-wack, and I'm not sure that it helped my anxiety.
I felt really good!. The bad: gain 40 pounds (and some loss of libido). I have been reading here on the net that wellbutrin does not have these side effects and told my doctor. Well he started me on 150 mg of WellbutrinSR twice a day for a total of 300 mg a day, and completely took me off the Effexor. This evening makes a total of 2 days since the switch, and I am experiencing wierd effects such as dizziness, lightheadedness, and a bit nausious.
General rule of thumb is that if a medication that can be safely discontinued (adderall will leave your system in about 4-6 hrs if it is not the time released version Adderall XR) is giving you chest pains you should stop taking it and seek an exam. I wish I had other advice that I could give you. Best wishes to you and stay safe Rebecca Resnik Disclaimer: This post is written for informational purposes only. I've been taking Adderall for 10 years + and don't know what the **** some of you are ranting about! If Adderall is having some horrific effect on you may I suggest that you may have been misdiagnosed as ADHD and your brain isn't affected by it like mine is. I've gone without this drug for weeks at a time over and over and, though I wasn't in top form obviously, I never EVER had any frantic cravings for it, etc. that would cause anyone, including myself, to think I was an "addict".
Usually we visit every 3 months and we get bloodwork done once a year. The only thing I know about Adderall is that it is no longer available as a generic. The company that held the original patent bought the company that made the generic...thus no more generic. So right now, that is my big beef. If I have to bring my son in every month, well yes that will be a big pain in the you know what. I hope it is not true. I guess I will find out soon enough.
stimulants should make people w/ anxiety even more anxious but thats not the case in my situation. My anxiety is caused by ADD. Adderall gives me mental energy but it also calms me; I'm able to think clear and am less anxious overall. This effect is common, but not all people with ADD have anxiety. As for your 3rd point I do not have artery disease. I may be predisposed to it; I can't argue with that but I do not have heart disease. I've been thoroughly checked twice.
I know someone that I care about dearly who takes 25 mg of Adderall a day for ADD. The other night she was taking pills like candy and going insane with them and just swallowing them. She took about 280 -300 mg of adderall all in less than a couple of hours was basically like on speed. She is 120 pounds, 16 years old and is about 5'4''. She couldnt eat and was having panic attacks, and puked, but refused to get help. She wouldnt let me help her and i was afraid of her.
My doctor prescribed me 10 mg of Adderall XR (the capsule form) and I have been taking it in the morning before breakfast. I'm not sure how long it's supposed to take for it to work, but I honestly haven't felt any different. My mind is still fuzzy and wanders constantly, I can't sit still. Does anyone know if its normal for it to not work for the first few days? Also, does anyone know if drinking caffeine is bad while on Adderall?
When I started college for the first time, as an adult with my own insurance, I went to a psychiatrist to get back on adderall. We played around with regular adderall and adderall xr for a few months and finally found the right dose for me was 30mg in the morning and 20 mg in the early afternoon, as I was working a full time job and going to school full time. I never took it on weekends or only took the morning or afternoon dose when I just had to work or go to school but not both.
i started taking the generic for adderall 3 d/ ago and i have a sore throat and my tongue is a bit swollen and i developed these lesions.. one on each side of my tongue and its very irritating and a little painful. at the dentist yesterday they told me its wasn't an infection but they thought it was a side effect from unknowingly clenching my teeth, and rubbing against my tongue due to the adderall.
