Common Questions and Answers about Is aldara generic

aldara

Avatar n tn I know the treatment is slow and that I am not going to have fast results at all. But my concern is, is there any way to prevent new warts from coming out? Is this the best treatment, even being a generic? What do you think about Retinoic Acids? Which one is faster and better? Thank you very much for your help!!!! This discussion is related to flat warts on my face.
Avatar m tn I posted a question about a month ago regarding genital warts, I can't find the post, so here goes again. A couple of years ago I noticed warts on my anus, I thought they were skin tags so I did nothing about it. Eventually I had them checked, they were warts and I had them removed and was put on Aldara. I used what my dermatologist gave me but I had no insurance so I never actually filled the prescription. The warts came back months later.
Avatar m tn Aldara is $40 with my insurance, the generic is $10...I think without insurance it is over $200 but not sure. I did acid treatment once a week for 4 weeks and that was my $25 co pay each time. I don't know the costs of any of the other treatments and all insurance is different. So far HPV has cost me $200, but if I didn't have insurance it would have been a lot more. I don't know any natural treatment. I am not drinking, don't smoke, I eat very healthy and take vit's.
Avatar m tn Hi there, I recently had my first genital wart outbreak last October (about 6-7 months ago) and have had recurring wart outbreaks ever since. I've gone to my doctor to get them burned off 3 times now with the most recent time being yesterday. She was surprised to see me back again and with so many warts (I had 8-10 this time that she burned off). She showed a bit of concern at first and asked if I have ever gotten an HIV test.
Avatar m tn the procedure was over 2 weeks ago, and i dont beleive this problem is related to the aldara cream. i think it is just very irritated, but it doesnt seem to be getting better and im worried it could be infected. i've tried applying vaseline at night, but it didnt help. i know when applying the aldara treatment, it is very important to be completley dry down there, but what about when im not using the cream, is it still as important to be completley dry?
535760 tn?1213891166 I used aldara with great success. However, I have read it has a higher success rate in females than males. Still, I do not know how credible this information exactly is. I found using Aldara to clear up the majority of warts, and then using a different treatment (such as cryo) to clear any remaining warts seemed to be effective. I used a combination of TCA and Aldara, and have been wart free for a month now (took 3 months to entirely clear).
Avatar m tn That is great that it is working. Was the doc unable to freeze them? Why surgery?
Avatar m tn Aldara is a cream that activates a local immune response. If there is nothing there for the immune system to attack there will be no side effects. If for example, your are diagnosed with a melanoma skin lesion and the doc says to apply the aldara 1x/day every other day for 3 months.
Avatar n tn Could this be a primary herpes outbreak or is it normal for the skin to react this way after ending aldara treatment? I experience minimal itching which i always have and no pain but to touch the affected ares is a little tender.
Avatar m tn Yeah this is a side effect of aldara, almost flu like symptoms, discontinue and consult your doctor for alternatives.
Avatar m tn What? are you applying Aldara on entire genital area? aldara is to be applied on the warts only and not the surrounding area... did a doctor diagnose you for genital warts and prescribed Aldara for you? If not so, please see a dermatologist and first get a correct diagnoses and talk to him about application of this cream... a mild irritation, soreness and itching is part of the healing process with this cream...
Avatar m tn dont use aldara. I think ACV even does better than aldara although some people here would disagree with my opinion. You can get mini surgery like electrocauterization, cryotherapy, or use podofin and its variants. These three, afaik, are better than anything else to treat warts.
Avatar m tn I have a few questions about using aldara. 1) is it harmful to shave on off days from using aldara? 2) Can shaving make the warts worse? 3) Is sex okay when the cream is not on the skin? Thank you!
Avatar f tn that I am HPV + after noticing 2 small warts on my labia majora. A week after the cauterization the warts came back and since it is so expensive I prefer not to have it removed. Is this a better plan or should I cauterized it again?
Avatar f tn Welcome to the STD forum. Sorry to hear your difficulties and uncertainties about your genital warts. Try not to let it get you down; this won't go on indefinitely and all will be well. And congratulations on starting Gardasil. Warts are not especially common in the vagina, except on the cervix. If visible warts haven't appeared in those locations by now, most likely they will not. Any additional warts that you develop will not be from re-catching the virus from your partner.
Avatar n tn So if you are infected with one of those types Aldara is pretty useless as well.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor, and they gave me Aldara for HPV. This was in January. Since then, I have had the worst yeast infections, and while one bump is slowly decreasing in size (and has hardened and turned quite red in the process), none of the others are changing size at all, and I am getting more tiny little white bumps within a few inches of the initial three bumps I had. I am pretty sure it is HPV, but it seems to be geting worse. I have been tested recently for HIV, and that was negative...
Avatar n tn I used Aldara cream which got rid of most of them and im basically clear of them however now on the shaft of my penis there is a spot where the skin is very raw looking. i put polysporin on it to help it heal. I was just wondering if anyone knew if this was normal after having Molluscum. Thanks for your time.
Avatar m tn The skin on the head of the penis likely was in contact with the area where the aldara was applied and would have been in contact with it for some hours at night. Anyone know if this is a common reaction for aldara. Its similar but different to a cold sore that one gets on your lip.
Avatar m tn Aldara makes the skin raw and in my opinion will likely make it more susceptible to transdermal infection. My opinion is also that you should just stop Aldara treatment and try electrocautery or even natural remedies (which have worked for me) Hope this helps!
