Common Questions and Answers about Hysterectomy and work

hysterectomy

Avatar f tn d ask about something that mimics menopause. Might work great till you hit real menopause. And It would tell you if a hysterectomy would work. If your hurting outside of your period then it more than just your period setting it off. My doctor put me on depo lupron (mimics menopause) it stop my period but not my pain therefore it's really doubtful a hysterectomy would help me. If it had helped I could have kept taking it or have a hysterectomy to make it permanent.
Avatar n tn (Just the uterus removed?) A total hysterectomy means you would have had the ovaries removed also, and would have gone through menopause at that time. I don't think estradiol will make you gain weight. It might even help you lose a little, or at least make your abdomen seem less bloated.
Avatar f tn s hard to know if the problems are from the repairs/sling or the hysterectomy. Hysterectomy causes the bladder and bowel to drop down which can cause problems with elimination. Constipation is common after hysterectomy due to the displacement of the bowel which of course can cause hemorrhoids. And as Dr. Wanjari mentioned, vaginal atrophy can cause pain with intercourse. But the shortening of the vagina with hysterectomy (with removal of cervix) can also be a source of pain.
Avatar f tn In my opinion, your worries are not unfounded. I have heard similar stories from other women (or their husbands/partners) after hysterectomy. It really messes with our hormones. I lost my loving feelings for my husband after my (unwarranted) hysterectomy. I don't even have the strong maternal feelings for my children. It makes me very sad and I held onto a lot of anger for a long time (I am still angry with my former gynecologist/surgeon).
Avatar f tn m going to ring my boss for at least another 2 weeks off than go back part time for a few weeks, and build up to full time again. I am in retail, and only get to sit down for 30mins a day, so I know I just can't physically do that at the moment. I know some-one who had 6 months off after her hysterectomy, but as much as I'd love to there is no way I can afford much longer.
Avatar f tn I already have depression and i am having a hysterectomy except for one ovary. I have exhausted all other avenues except for one. I am more worried about my depression than the actual operation. This is my choice to have the operation rather then just trying another birth control method. i have ovary cysts and endemetriosis. Should i rethink my decision to go ahead with the operation?
Avatar f tn The insurance would pay for this type of termination of pregnancy. It is considered medically necessary for her to have her hysterectomy. Why can't she just call the GYN and talk to the nurse and see what kind of an issue/problem this presents for the hysterectomy? They usually don't charge to talk to you on the phone. Plus since it's her choice to terminate the pregnancy. I'd ask about just going on with the hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn i due to have a hysteromy on march 14 they want to do blood test and one is the ct-125 test if they dont supect canser then why do it it scares me they did a biospy on uterus but i have a phalap in uterus and fibriod tumor and cyst on left ovarie about 3 cm is that big so they want do a tatal hystromy
Avatar f tn How large is the fibroid, and did your Gynecologist recommend having a hysterectomy? You could get your own health insurance but most companies make you wait 3 months or more before they'll pay for any surgeries. Check out individual health insurance online. Some of the policies are very affordable.

Avatar n tn after my hysterectomy 2 years ago i have hot flashes and night sweats it is severe i have tried everthing at the wal mart pharmacy over the counter nothing is working im going crazy pls help me on wat to do
Avatar m tn Yes, I agree with Cherie that it is possible but your friend needs to find a reproductive endocrinologist. S/he would probably want to do some blood work on her as well as scans and would need to meet with the potential surrogate as well.
Avatar f tn LAter after surgery i came to know it was a total hysterectomy with uterus, ovary and fallopian tube removed. I was on HRT for 6 months and then she stopped my estrogens. Ater that there was gradual weight loss and i have lost 10 kgs till now in 8 months. i feel very low and weak. my appetite has also weakened. i look so bad, i want to regain my lost weight if its possible and is it safe for me to take estrogen again.
Avatar n tn well i tried cadio and dieting and still no results i hate to go to options as getting surgery and it does cost i just thought you may have something else but i guess ill have to deal with the weight gain which is so depressing theres got to be something out there other than surgery if you hear on it please let me know thanks
Avatar n tn nt been through this myself but I would look at all of your options and really talk with your Dr. A hysterectomy is surgery of course and will last a life time. Ask your Dr if there is a way to keep your uterus and correct this problem. Keep us up to date on how your doing and take care.
Avatar f tn Is hysterectomy the best option. My gyno says I have 4 fibroids and 1 ovarian cyst. I have no pain and no problem with the fibroids. The cyst is giving me problems for its sore almost every time. If I do a lot of walking, exercise, physical work etc, i feel pain on the right and I think thats were my ovary is. I also feel pain during my period. The pain goes down my right leg at times.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 35 yof, I had a complete hysterectomy in October of last year due to alot of different problems. (My uterus was attached to my abdominal wall and endometriosis and my tube was twisted and attached to itself with adhesions causing alot of pain) Lately I have been having what I think is hot flashes and just general weakness and lightheadedness and frequent urination at times. My head just feels dizzy and the hot flashes mainly affect the top of my body face chest and arms.
Avatar f tn I had my hysterectomy on August 22 of 2006, I was 36 years old, started having thyroid pains within eighteen months of surgery. Cysts in both breasts within 3 months of my hysterectomy and again a year later. Cysts on ovary, now I've been diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer (papillary) at 38. Could there be a connection between the Hysterectomy and Thyroid Cancer? No major problems before hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn I had 2 surgeries 2 years ago, and the last was a horizontal cut hysterectomy. My muscles in my stomach are still not mended, and my colon was scarred during one surgery. So, I cannot enjoy my usual presurgery workouts. I was in the military for 11 years, so having this new pouch in my stomach is new for me. I'm already a vegetarian, don't eat sugar often, but I cannot get the weight off. As a matter of fact, it goes up and down all of the time. Has anyone else been in this situation?
212059 tn?1292938529 I feel then much more and they cause a sensation of pressure in my ears and neck. Luckily, I work in an ER and asked a nurse to run a quick EKG strip for me. Sure enough, they are not PVC's. They look more like PAC's. I showed the strip to the ER doc and he said they look like PAC's to me and asked if I was having any chest pain. Since I didn't he was unconcerned with them. Although that was somewhat reassuring, I just can't deal with these. They feel awful.
Avatar f tn I have sat for hours on the internet looking at it and cannot find anything positive about it. I am due back at work soon and want to feel healthy. I have pulled myself together today and decided to venture down to the health shop for more natural remedies.

Avatar f tn So now my doctor Says we can do a partial hysterectomy, removing the cervix and uterus and the tubes but leaving the ovaries. I have no history of any cancer is in my family. Says we can do a partial hysterectomy, removing the cervix and uterus and the tubes but leaving the ovaries. I have no history of any cancer is in my family. My doctor did not say anything about an organ prolapse for any long-term potential risks.
