humira

775302 tn?1253100505 Hello everyone, hope this posts finds you all well. I was hoping someone might have a trick to make taking the humira injector pen any less painful. I'm actually hoping I can talk my doctor into letting me get it in vial form so I can fill my own syringe and take it the same as I do the methotrexate. But that pen, its a killer. I always let it warm up from the fridge first is this a mistake maybe? Does it just burn naturally or does the injector pen make it worse?
Avatar m tn I have started Humira injections which is a tnf drug and since I started taking it three weeks ago I have had a constant headache. Is this normal as not even strong painkillers are helping.
Avatar n tn Hi there! I have been taking injections of Methotrexate and Humira once a week since late May. The combo of these two drugs has taken me out of my flare up, which lasted a year, and allowed me to avoid surgery. I didn't see vast improvements until November, so it did take a while to really get me back to healthy but it was worth the wait. Good luck to you and I hope you are feeling better already.
Avatar m tn Which Part D insurance plan has the best coverage and cost factor for the humira pen. I dose 40 mg every other week.
Avatar m tn Hi I hope to get some info and help I have Crohn’s Disease and Ankylosing spondylitis for over ten 15 years now and have taken steroids and Mezavant XL 4800mg which always have worked, but have caused a cataract. I am now on Mezavant XL 4800mg and weekly Humira injections for 6 month. At first Humira worked completely, but for the last 3 month I now have got again explosive Diarrhoea and bleeding.
956292 tn?1334054869 Hey all...Just wanted to throw this out there. I am on Avonex and started the Avonex pen about 2 months ago..I noticed my last shot I bruised up. I bruised one time before with syringe.. Is bruising sometimes common when injecting??? Should I worry? Darn it I thought I had this down pat.
Avatar m tn Both are supposed to do the same thing in the body. The only difference is Remicade is a made-protien where as the Humira is a human protien. With Humira you give yourself a shot every other week. So far, after using both, I prefer the Remicade. I didn't mind the treatments as much as I do the Humira even though the Humira is more convienient (I hate having to give myself a shot.
158939 tn?1274915197 I've just had my 2nd injection of Humira today (on 20mg, 2x month). Both times I've had no energy and felt bad for about 12 hours after the injection. Anyone else have this type of reaction to the injection?
Avatar f tn I have severe Crohns and currently taking 40 mg weekly injections. Would anyone know if it is safe for me to be exposed to someone who has recently gotten over a bad virus.. I know taking Humira suppresses my immune sytem but wasn't sure if that included virus as well as bacterial infections. My nephew has planned to stay with me for the weekend and his fever just broke yesterday.. He has had the virus for 4 days now. Thank you!
Avatar f tn I found out im bout 5wks pregnant n on humria injections, worried tht it will harm bby in future as there is no known research on this drug. any1 else on this drug?
Avatar m tn does anyone know if it is ok to take the redipen injection and humira injections at the same time.
18894824 tn?1469465363 I'm February 2015 I had to restart Humira injections after not being on them for almost a year. I was also put on 40mg/day of prednisone. March 6, I woke up to excruciating pain in legs from the hips down. I tried to take a step and it felt like I was walking on broken bones through molasses. I made it to my bathroom but then no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get up off the toilet.
Avatar m tn I will be starting the follistim injections this cycle. I think I have a good understanding of everything, but the nurse didn't cover many of the things I had read in the pamplet that came with the pen, so I just wanted to double check with someone that has been here before. The follistim cartridge has to be refrigerated. Once the first injection is given it can stay at room temp for up to 28 days. (Is this right???) The cartridge can be stored in the pen???
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried the avonex pen yet. I do the once weekly injections and am kind of excited about it! The needles are supposed to be shorter and less painful and I'm hoping instead of my husband having to give me the injections I will be able to do them myself. I called insurance today and they said would have to start whole authorization process over again but I think it might be worth it! anyone else hear anything good or bad??
686769 tn?1236272131 I have not been on Humira but was on Remicade with great results. My chrons had progressed so far by the time I started the Remicade that I had developed fistulas and had to have surgery. I decided not to continue with the Remicade after the surgery because I was doing so well. If need be I will try the Remicade again becuase I know that if I develop a reaction from the Remicade (since I was on it previously) I will then try Humira.
Avatar f tn I took my first Humira shot in my leg on Monday and last night my leg began to hurt really bad. It is a pain that is hard to describe. I told my husband it was a "bone pain" it hurts down deep in the bone from my knee to my hip joint. Today it is hurting mostly in my hip joint.I take darvocet daily for pain and it really isn't helping and neither is naproxen. Is this normal after the first few days of the injection?
1115182 tn?1258760246 I have had Crohn's for 40 yrs; 30 yrs on steroids, 10 on methotrexate. Originally oral, 25 mg a week, but last 4 yrs weekly injections of 25 mg. I had a hemi-colectomy in March 09, with 15 cm of my small and large intestines removed. Unfortunately, I then had a big flare in late September requiring 2 weeks again in hospital. I was put on remicade: gastro said I would have only 3 infusions: 0, 2 weeks, 6 weeks, but still had faecal incontinence and failure to put on weight.
534553 tn?1281991313 But you leave the cartridge in the pen for two more injections and store in the refridgerator as is. The next night all you have to do is dial your dose and inject. Then you change your cartridge when it is empty 3 nights later. Kathy is right...looking back now is was a piece of cake and I am ready for cycle # 2 to start in less then two weeks. I had 13 eggs retrieved and 3 fertilized and all 3 transferred but unfortunately I did not become pregnant.
Avatar m tn Naproxen, Vioxx, Celebrex, Diclofenac, Mobic, Sulfasalazine, Plaquenil, Clinoril, Lodine, Methotrexate, Neurontin, Methilprednisolone, Prednisone, HUMIRA injections. (These are the ones I remember). My current regimen is Humira 1wk., Leflunomide 1day and tapering off of Prednisone. But guess what?? I'm still in a lot of pain in my L/elbow and some pain in R/hand and wrist. I have come to doubt I actually have RA. Perhaps I have some weird unknow disease not known to the medical community.
739070 tn?1338603402 I am not crazy about the new pen - its more painful and seems to be bruising more. I am getting scabs too since I am bleeding more with the shots. I hate injecting myself though so I will deal with it until BG12 comes out (though I am not convinced that's the direction for me either since I have NO side affects with Avonex.

1150573 tn?1261964987 DO NOT PRIM THE NEEDLE IF YOU STILL HAVE GONAL-F SOLUTION LEFT FOR FURTHER INJECTIONS WITH THIS NEEDLE (EG IF YOU HAVE A PEN 900 GONAL-F AND YOU INJECT 300 A TIME YOU WOULD PRIM NEEDLE BEFORE FIRST INJECTION, BUT WOULD NOT NEED TO PRIM AGAIN THE NEXT 2 TIMES UNTIL A NEW PEN IS USED). GOOD LUCK MARY I HOPE YOU HAVE A SUCCESSFUL OUTCOME.
Avatar f tn ( I am a little sarcastic, but then I have earned that little bullet lol) Sugar, carbonated drinks, smoking, all these things are sooo off limits. The Cimzia injections have worked for awhile, now being switched to Humira. I have to keep trying because i know somewhere out there a cure is waiting for us. My family & I will keep you in our thoughts & prayers. Keep smiling:)) NEVER GIVE IN!
422104 tn?1209763904 Ok, heres one for anybody out there. Has anyone tried the Enbrel, had no luck with it and gone on to either the Remicade or Humira and gotten results? It's a beautiful day here in the NE and the pup is telling me it's time to get out there! Make it a good day everyone and I will check in later today. Sue & Casey, ha ha!
Avatar f tn I have RA and have been diagnosed 1 year ago. Apparently I'm a severe case. It just keeps progressing. I've been on Plaquenil, Methotrexate for 8 months now. Started Humira injections about 3 months ago. About 2 weeks ago...my left thigh was itching...so I scratched. You should see the bruise I have now. It's been more than a week and its dark purple and measures 6" wide by 6"lenght. Should I worry about it? Is this just a side effect from the meds? I must admit...
400358 tn?1320234443 I am doing gonal f for the first time with the pen. I dialed it to the right dosage and gave the shot. Am I still suppose to see clear liquid at the bottom of the shot???
Avatar f tn I am on Humaria injections which work very well for me, not that you are that advanced in your disease, but I am....and it is working for me, I was also on Enbrel injections for 5 years before this drug now.
Avatar f tn My husband is on many arthritis medications, I know he does humira injections, and he has told me he is on 2 other (oral) medications. One he takes one once daily, another 8 times a day. I have been asking him to tell me what they are so I can look it up to be sure pregnancy would be ok but he hasn't gotten to that! I remember reading getting pregnant would be hard on a medication that was suggested to him and I remember something about it possibly harming the baby??
Avatar f tn Hi Andie, It is indeed possible to have a low-grade, less aggressive form of RA. Each person who has it is different in terms of symptoms and treatment, however all the symptoms you've listed are possible with RA. Your muscle pain could be a result of tensing them unconsciously to protect the sore joints, or you could have fibromyalgia as well as the RA. it's not uncommon for both to occur together.
