How to make contractions stronger

Common Questions and Answers about How to make contractions stronger

Anyone know how to make your contractions stronger & make it the real deal? I'm having them now & they feel like I'm starting my period coming about every 15-20 minutes... sometimes 10 min. But they ALWAYS go away after a while :/ i mean I think that's what they are. They are tolerable & not painful but are not comfortable! I'm hoping they will get stronger!
Ok so I am getting contractions annoying niggling back ones that spread round my front they come at night which makes it hard to sleep im just fed up now and want to make them stronger and more frequent I am 2cm dilated so far. Any advice???
Well it has to start sometime..... Some women feel contractions like cramps all day until they get stronger and closer together, other women ( like me) wake up in the middle of the night and their water breaks or you feel strong contractions that are really close together and getting stronger!!! Mine stated at 4 minutes apart and pretty strong and only increased from there until I was in so much pain I was puking less than 3 hours later!!!
Some women have diarrhea days before labor because the body is wanting to clean itself out before delivery. How close are they and are they getting stronger?
True contractions are not relieved but an 8oz glass of water, resting on your left side for an hour and wake you when you are sleeping. True contractions cause you to make cervical change. I don't know how far along you are. They can feel like a squeezing and then release, can feel like back pain that comes and goes. Regardless, try 8oz glass of water, resting on left side (for good blood flow to baby) and then if it doesn't resolve call your OBGYN office.
Doc says it sounds like early labor & wen contractions get regular to call & he will make sure there's a room ready for me in L&D wen I arrive .. Hopefully she's gearing up to make her appearance ..
My dr told me that based on the baby's position he would be very surprised if I wasn't in labor with in the next few days. Well my question is, is it possible to only feel contractions in your lower abdominal and pelvic area?
How exactly do you time contractions? Ive been having contractions since last night. i Left my bfs house and had two really really painful contractions but they stopped. Today we went to target, which practically killed me, and i had a couple of contractions there. that was earlier today and they stopped. then i woke up from my nap and had 1 long painful contraction. i dont kno wheter its real or not. im 38 weeks. i heard your whole uterus balls up...and it has.
Instead we walked for like 3 hours in hopes to make the contractions stronger and closer. It didn't but I convinced her to go get checked out anyways. She was a 7 when they checked her!!! So walk, walk, walk!!!
I am 32W 3D and having some bad Braxton Hicks contractions. They seem to be coming more frequently. They feel like af cramps but a worse. I went to the dr. yesterday and I didnt ask about them. I was so worried about my swelling!! Anyways, like I said they are starting to get painful and there is a lot of pressure "down there" what do you ladies think? Thank you!!
This went on for about 5 hours so since I was still only 34 weeks at the time I figured I didnt' want to wait too long in case they sent us to a specialty hospital a half hour from here. We ended up going to labor and deliv ery to make sure, I thought they felt pretty real. Boy, was I embarrassed. By time they hooked me up it was over. BUt, they checked me anyway. Hooked me up to the monitors and did a cervical exam. IN 5 days I went from 0% efaced to 50% efaced.
Good question because at my appt. this week my doctor asked how often I was getting contractions and I asked her... "Well, what do you consider contractions? Because I get Braxton Hicks and they aren't painful." Her response to me was "Ok, then you aren't having contractions because contractions will be painful." So... I guess my body is still practicing away because my "contractions" are not painful at all... uncomfortable, sure... but not painful.
You're going to have 5 or 6 contractions in the car on the way to the hospital and you need to get your epidural ASAP- here in the UK they won't give you one once your labour is too advanced..... I'd definitely be getting ready to go if I were you.
Dehydration during pregnancy has a bad habit of causing braxton hicks to get bad enough to mimic actual contractions. Things to try would be walking, laying down, change positions, drink tons of water, take a warm bath, and see if they go away. If they get stronger and stay the same pattern or get closer together it would be best to notify your doctor or go to the hospital especially if the pains are also with low back pain.
It's a hard decision no mother should have to make but that's how it is. I'm thinking of taking all of my TDi which would take me to my due date in December and then try to resume my job or find another one. Baby comes first.
If they're the real thing they're gonna get more painful, I think you should wait just to make sure and if they get stronger go to the hospital
Im still having contractions every ten minutes apart. They got stronger this morning. They told me not to come in til they are 2-3 mins apart since Im so far along.
I had pain in my lower abdomen. They would come and go. So i decided to time them to make sure it was contractions. They were 10mins apart and last 1min. After sometime i heard a pop sound and the pain became unbearable. They started to become 5mins apart and i started bleeding.
So, if I were you I'd get checked just to be sure, but if you want/have to wait just keep track of how often they happen and go to hospital if they get ten min or closer, and just to be safe make an appointment as soon as you can, and try to rest more.
This happened to me Monday night my contractions was 3 to 5 mins. apart &..i let them last a hour like my doctor told then went to the hospital they gave me meds & it stopped so unfortunately it was false labor I cried all the way home they told next time wait 2hrs.
I would call your dr to be safe. Also make sure you are well hydrated as that can make contractions worse. Good luck.
They are painful, but not too much to handle.
Hi there Just wondering when you guys had your first braxton hicks contractions how far along were you in your pregnancy?
He told me at my last appointment he was going to check my cervix to make sure these contractions are not causing me to dialate early, but he never did. he just came back in the room and said what you are experiencing is round ligament pain. And i was like well okay. he even pointed out where i would have it at and told my husband how to aid in that. I did have that though but i was more concerned about the contractions.
Mention it to your doc but i wouldn't worry as they are perfectly normal and will tend to get stronger as you get closer to your due date.
How scary I would go see ur Dr again. Tell him u no what contractions feel like and u r having them.
I keep thinking im gonna go early because I have tons of BH everyday and am already dialated to one but she seems to think I will make it full term because my other 2 babies were. If anything you can always go and get checked out....I always waited at home untill I got contraction that were very strong that I coulnt talk through. Than I knew it was labor.
I went ahead and went in, they had me pee in a cup and those tests came out normal. I was hooked up to the monitors, had a few contractions that weren't to bad, only measured at like 20 being the worst one. Baby was at a constant HB of 150, so that was good. Had a pap done to check me for a yeast infection/vaginosis and other possible infections which all came back negative. My cervix is high, long and closed which is also good. I did also have some menstrual like back pain which was constant.
I'm a single momma here so sex is out of the question lol I guess I'm gonna be doing laps around the house tonight. Maybe turn a good song on and dry to dance to it if my contractions don't make me fall in pain hahaha thanks for all this advice I totally need it.
