Avatar n tn I would differ, as whatever you're suffering from isn't something we can know. That fact osteoarthritis showed up on an MRI, for example, doesn't mean that's the reason you're feeling pain. It could be, but it could be muscular or other things as well. And as for exercises for this, I would get referred to physical therapy.
Avatar m tn I am very active and cycle about 5 hours a week and about 5 hours a week of more weight bearing exercise. I have not been able to regain full flexibility to the knee, I am lacking 10 degrees of motion. I ice my knee most every day after exercising. I completed a series of 3 shots of Euflexxa about 6 weeks ago and have felt no difference from that. I started physical therapy twice a week for the last three weeks which lasts about 1.
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar n tn How would you work on your legs and especially the knee area of fat to tone or lose?

It can be done for up to 10 minutes a day during the last four weeks of pregnancy. Wash hands thoroughly. Ensure there are no sharp or long nails that may scratch the mother. Locate the perineum, directly below the vagina. It is the skin between the vagina and the anus. Apply some cold pressed and pure oil (such as olive oil) to this skin.
Avatar f tn I can feel sideways movement of the knee parts when I lift my leg and swing it, or lay in bed and move my leg side to side. it drives me crazy! do you experience this as well?
Avatar m tn Your physical therapist may show you how to tape your knee to reduce pain and enhance your ability to exercise. You may be able to return to activities such as running, but you may need to reduce the number of miles you run until it doesn't hurt during or after exercise. Icing after exercise may be especially helpful. Don't rush back to activity, however. It can take six weeks or more before you begin to feel better.

Avatar f tn I am 26 and have had knee pain for 2 years. I have been living in Asia and have had a difficult time finding a doctor that a) speaks English and b) is helpful in diagnosing the problem. Most doctors have said they are not sure what the problem is and that I should just rest and take pain medication. After 2 years of doing this I am becoming really frustrated.
Avatar f tn Bend slightly at the waist and knees as you begin lowering yourself to the floor until your quadriceps are about parallel to the floor, as if sitting in a chair. Be sure to keep your back straight and chin up for 8 to 10 repetitions. Return to the start position to complete one repetition. Perform two sets of 8 to 10 repetitions. To do lunges stand with one leg 12 to 18 inches in front of the other. Place your hands on your hips and bend your forward knee, keeping your back straight.
Avatar n tn Standing, you are going to first practice the technique. You want to bend your right knee in front of you, try to reach your chest or even better, your face, with one knee, then extend your knee as far to the right side as possible, so it looks like it is perfectly beside your hips, and you want to try and get your knee up to your shoulder. Then do it as fast as you can! Kick your knee up and try to reach your own face, (please don't actually knee yourself in the face) then do it sideways.

Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed a Splint by a company called Dynasplint. You wear it 6 to 8 hours a day. It applies backward Pressure from 5 to 25 pounds adjustable to slowly stretch and bend your knee. You can achieve about 3° of stretch per week. You wear it while sitting and watching TV. The rental is about $200 a month and covered by most insurance companies.
Avatar n tn 1 unit increase in the short acting is also 1 unit more increase in the long acting. This is perhaps not exactly what you need as your sugars say 6 hours from now are not running high. Also, the premixes are usually used once a day to two times a day (because of the amount of the long acting insulin), most type 1's are on 3 times a day or more therapy which has proven to be most optimal in control. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn I believe it is in part due to patellar mistracking. I have been working on flexibility in my hamstrings and quads, as well as strengthening my VMO, since it is weaker than the outer quad muscles. I have been doing wall sits to strengthen my VMO, since squats are too painful and leg extensions agrivate the condition. However, these excersizes seem to do little to help with the pain, even though I have been doing them for at least 6 months now.
Avatar n tn It has also been shown to increase bone density. In fact, astronauts use WBV to protect against the bone and muscle loss they experience in the micro-gravity environment of space. I hope that helps.
Avatar m tn ve been diligent with my physical therapy and I have full flexibility in the leg. I can bend the leg at the knee and I can fully extend it. I can put weight on the leg and the doctor no longer requires me to wear the surgical boot. I still need to use a cane or crutches to get around. How long does it take for the tibia fracture to fully heal, and is there anything I can do to quicken the healing process on my own other than exercises and physical therapy? Thank you.
Avatar m tn Having had a partial knee replacement 6 weeks ago I can say that the movement and flexibility of the knee is very good. I have adhered to the post op exercise regime and I am free from sticks and supports. However I do suffer pain on the inside of my knee whilst walking which may or may not be soft tissue and/or MCL damage or scarring. I suppose I need to give it time although do get a bit disheartened at times as I would not have expected such pain at this stage.
Avatar n tn He suspected there was more bleeding around the knee due to me taking ibuprofen up to a day before surgery (He failed to mention the ibuprofen during my checkup before surgery) Have been elevating, alternating cold and moist heat, taking aspirin daily. Have also been doing daily leg raises (400) and isometrics and can now get around without crutch, but am limping because my knee cannot flex.
Avatar m tn It's fairly common to hear a clunk in an artificial knee. It depends on what system your surgeon used but the surgeon I used to work for used a system that placed what looked like a plastic button on the underside of the patella. This is what caused the clunking/clicking in the knee of his patient's on occasion. If it worries you enough, you can always call your surgeon's nurse and talk to them about it, and if you need a sooner appt, they can make arrangements for that for you.

Avatar n tn The pattern of cartilage damage seen with chondromalacia is distinct from the degeneration seen in arthritis, and the damage from chondromalacia is thought to be capable of repair, unlike that seen with arthritis. Treatment is by resting the knee and adhering to a proper physical therapy program. NSAID’s, cross-training activities, such as swimming, can allow an athlete to maintain their fitness while resting the knee.
