Avatar n tn Thanks, this was helpful. I'm 69 years old and started on HRT at 48 and have been taking Prempro for most of those 21 years, and still on it. Whenever I've tried to stop I dnn't feel right -- aches and pains -- more tired than usual. 2 year ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, so now on Armor Thyroid as well, but still get very exhausted by the end of the work week. My gynocologist and endocrinologist seem to think all this is fine.
Avatar f tn The next day, September 18, I abruptly stopped the Prempro and let my doctor know I felt I had been on the Prempro long enough and also due to the breast cysts. So for me it's only been a little over a month since I've stopped the Prempro. I was told I don't need to return for a year. That is amazing your screening showed no cysts after six months. this gives me hope.
Avatar f tn Can anyone tell me how long it takes for HRT to start working? I have been taking estradiol and norethindrone acetate for almost two weeks and so far I don't feel very much better. It has helped the hot flashes somewhat but the other symptoms are about the same. Isn't it supposed to help with sleep. This is so miserable. I still cry everyday and the shaking is still bad. This menopause is the worst. I wish I could have been one of those who breezed through it.
Avatar f tn Thanks again. I will follow recommendations. Other treatments include tamoxifan (sp) by any chance? I guess I'll have to stop Prempro. This is something I will have to talk to Dr. about. Tamoxifan cause hot flashes?
Avatar f tn Three days ago I went to a new doctor to get the hormones adjusted and she said she does not prescribe bioidenticals and gave me a prescription for Prempro. I do not want to take this and I told her so. She said she does not believe bioidenticals are any safer than Prempro and if I needed to have an adjustment in my Rx due to break through symptoms of hot flashes and severe brain fog along with zero energy then I needed to try something different than what I had been doing.
Avatar f tn I just started prempro 4 nights ago, and my hot flashes (and subsequent clod flashed) and night seats have gotten worse, not better. I'm only (almost) 46 and was taking DHEA and Pregnenolone....and they worked well up until a couple of months ago. I up'd the dosage, and it still won't work for me anymore. I really REALLY didn't/don't want to take synthetics, but it all just became too much...nauseous too....want to cry all the time.
237053 tn?1258828426 What I have heard over the years that has to do with pregnancy and MS, is that the woman's body will shut off part of her immune system to allow her body to carry the "foreign being," inside of her body. Otherwise the pregnancy would be attacked by the immune system and destroyed. This lasts until about 3-6 months after delivery. Usually about 3 months. So scientists are trying to figure out how the immune system "shuts off" to allow the pregnancy to continue.
Avatar f tn m not a depressed type, always happy, not moody. I had to go on Prempro, it took 2 weeks, I was better. I am having trouble with words, simple words, I forget how to spell them, or even say them. I am really frustrated with that. But I'm going to get a Natural one, Hormones and then ween myself of the prempro. That can cause Cancer . Hope that answer your ?
Avatar f tn Good morning and thank you for talking to me! I have exactly all the same situations as you and am so sick of it. I even asked my dr. to give me a hysterectomy and she said it wouldn't change a thing. WOO HOO! I am going with the Prempro and and am double rinsing all my clothes. Using less detergent and fabric softener too. Don't you just love those cotton panties? I've had BV several times and numerous yeast infections due to this thing they call Menopause.
Avatar f tn Recently the doctor changed my Prempro dosage from .45/1.5 mg per day to double that amount. Do you think the change in Prempro could change my thyroid levels? Should I request new thyroid blood tests or wait for my annual testing which comes up in 6 months?
Avatar m tn My 18 year old daughter spent the last 4 months weening off Pristiq and now feel she really needs something for depression and anxiety. So my question, how long to start feeling the effects of Zoloft? She is starting at 50 mg for a week then moving up to 100mg. Any information would be helpful.. I realize everyone is different, but would like to know some experiences.
Avatar f tn If you are planning on working after you have the baby, it is good to work for as long as possible before the baby comes. here's why--- that time you take off counts toward your short term disability and the family medical leave. There are maximum days associated with both of those and you'd be using them to have the baby early. I worked until close to my due date with my first taking a few vacation days.

Avatar m tn I should have said how long will it for the symtoms to begin to go away?
Avatar f tn Hi there welcome to the forum We are not Drs here , we are educated volunteers so we are not able to reccomed medicateions. I think it would be a good idea for you to seek a nurse practioner who specialies in menopause, they have the time to really talk and will guide you through possible meds. It can be difficult getting the right combo but dont stop until you do , its been 2 1/2 years thats too long to feel those flashes and have sweats so badly.
518798 tn?1295212279 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I feel sure this question has probably been asked and answered, but I don’t think I can sit still long enough to go through all the treads to find it. Therefore, I am going to ask and hope I get an answer. I had a partial hysterectomy in 2006 and still have my ovaries. My question (or should I say questionS) is will I go through menopause earlier, and if so, how do I know?
Avatar n tn To be honest... It is going to take you awhile to feel yourself again. You just had your thyroid out... now you are on thyroid meds.. this is going to take awhile getting you to where you FEEL WELL again. It will be two years in March that I had my TT and I am just starting to feel OK! Having your thyroid out cause so much havoc to the body.. Be patient and roll with the punches!! Good luck!
Avatar n tn After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me. I think I need Progesterone and would like to know if others use the cream and what brand. Or any advice appreciated. Thank- you.
Avatar f tn Oncologist opinion that since I am 62, and have been on Prempro for 11 yrs that HRT may have contributed to LCIS, because although LCIS is found in women my age, it is usually found in younger women. Just finished weaninf off the Prempro. Having sweats and flashes, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I am supposed to start Raloxifene. This may cause hot flashes. If severe enough, dr will rx Effexor to treat flashes.
