Common Questions and Answers about How long does stomach gas last

Avatar_m_tn I would like to ask how long does it takes for stomach gas problem to heal. im having it for about a week. i have taken probiotics and anti acid medicines. Sometimes my stomach felt uncomfortable but once i released the gas it will feel way better. Why does this occur? Do i need endoscopy to check my stomach?
Avatar_n_tn Even though the good doctor is unaware of such a disease, I too have experienced changes in my heart rythym as a result of stomach gas pressure. I'm a 46 year old male in pretty good health overall and I've been living with the same condition you describe for several years now. When I'm really bloated, my heart rate at rest often becomes rapid and shallow and every so often feels as if it's skipping a beat.
170935_tn?1225374676 I got up from the table and made myself burp. I was amazed at how much gas my stomach had.Palps went away with me burping. 3 hours and a pepcid later and I still have gas, but no Thumps!! The best way I can explain it is this. When you dont eat, when you feel hungry, your stomach produces acid. It also produces acid when you eat abruptly, or eat foods which are hard to digest. This acid build up in the form of gas in your stomach presses up against the vagal nerve, and produces palps.
Avatar_f_tn im 17 and ive gotten the shot 3 times...first time i didnt bleed at all 2nd time twards the end when i needed a new shot i bled for a good month straight...i just got the shot again yesterday so hopefully it stops..i decided to switch to IUD after this last shot...if you get it uninsured theyll insert the one with no hormones and youll still get your periods...if your insurance covers it they can insert the one with hormones and you wont get your period and they both last 5 years.
Avatar_f_tn how long, after a paracentesis, does it take for the stomach to shrink, if at all? Her oncologist's response was "I told you so, I told it would come back". We might have to schedule another procedure this week if an ultrasound shows fluid. Is it possible for ascites to accumulate so much fluid in a week? Thanks again Dr. Goodman.
Avatar_f_tn My mom’s largest tumour is just smaller than 3cm, her last CT was 4 weeks ago. So how can the cancer cause such a great irritation to the stomach and make her stomach THAT distended? And is there eally nothing she can do about it except laxatives? Sorry for the long note Dr. Goodman, thanks again for reading this.
Avatar_n_tn how long do these withdrawals last if I'm on day 14 and was throwing up today and still feel all those symptons they say happens to you? i stopped cold turkey and i just want to know when all the pain will go away.
Avatar_n_tn he told me to check on how long the withdrawls last cuz he might be wrong on that. does anybody know how long withdrawls will last? is he right about the anxiety, if he is what do i do for that? i would like to know how long withdrawls last?
2001101_tn?1331498340 Pepcid AC helps me. So does peppermint tea.
Avatar_m_tn My symptoms I get awful cramps, nausea, constipation, sweaty hands and feet, fast shallow breaths, uncontrollable crying, racing heart, terrible thoughts, complete loss of appetite (2months now), eating anything makes me full and my stomach wont stop making noise. All of my stomach issues, and the sweaty hands, last long after the attack has calmed. I hav ebeen sick for a couple months now, even vomiting at times.
Avatar_f_tn Dont worry the gas used to inflate your stomach does this. I hate it for weeks before mine went away. It can be painful but it does eventually go away. Try walking and burping as much as you can.
1434731_tn?1382725984 I had the worst bloating and gas pains last night! I was able to finally go poo (tmi) and then fall asleep but I woke at 1:30 and could barely get out of bed because my tummy hurt so bad with gas. I got up and did my thing and I went back to bed. When I woke at 3:30 to tinkle I was fine. What can I do about this bloat and gas? Two nights in a row only this one was horrible!
Avatar_f_tn I have suffered with IBS which was always chronic constipation and cramps. This was diagnosed bu colonoscopy a few years ago. About a month ago I had an acute stomach bug. It started with a lurchy stomach and had no appetite that day, and felt sick, and finally had diarrhea with undigested food. That seem to ease withing a couple of days. Ten days after this stomach upset I went and brought a chicken chow mein and ate it with a spicy sauce on.
Avatar_n_tn The burps are horrible smelling (sometimes worse then the farts). I could just burp all day long, it seems. This all started about the last time a certain fast food chain had that e-coli outbreak... and I had been eating there around that time. Granted, it's been about 3 months... first the aweful burps started slowly... and now more and more followed by excessive farting. Could this be some kind of mild e-coli? Parasite? Lactose intolerance?
Avatar_n_tn I had an ABlation Procedure done on January 26, 2010 & since then I have had several A-Fib episodes one which lasted from last Friday 2/5 @ 8:30 pm until Monday 2/8 when I went into NSR @ 11:20am. I went to ER on Sunday night as I was getting real dizzy & my blood pressure seemed to be getting lower & lower. They put me on an Amiodarone IV drip kept me until Tuesday morning & during my stay gave me Amiodarone orally, digoxin which I am still taking.
Avatar_n_tn ) There are lots of posts about dealing with the gas, basically just have patience. You can also look up the half life of your particular gas to give a better idea about how long it will take.
Avatar_n_tn There also differing frequency of occurrences and how long they last. Some people are in poor health and some are seemingly in very good health yet still get attacks. Drugs are needed in many instances and the answer for some but not necessarily in others. I'm of strong opinion that digestive tract problems can lead to episodes of afib. The answer to many of your questions can be found in these posts. I hope you find them useful. Good luck and let us know how you do.

402646_tn?1202525002 I found these symptoms more of a hindrance than the actual feeling of the beats as they tendt not to last too long but the other symptoms can last for hours and days. Anyone else experience this?
Avatar_f_tn I was to have a barium enema last week, but the radiology said not a good idea with tachycardia.Nuts make my stomach swell ive noticed. It feels like I get alot of gas trapped.NO notice of blood or black stools. Stools are kinda leafy dark green now,but I eat salads, spinach and broccolie lately.
Avatar_m_tn Does anyone have experience with someone dying from ovarian cancer? how long did it take after cessation of chemo? Was it painful or problematic?
1257492_tn?1269998282 My post-op surgery gas lasted 9 weeks. Sorry, I am sure nobody wants to hear this, but it can last a long TIME. Do you have a desk job? (I hope so). If so, I recommend bringing a small pillow you can hold to your abs if you get sore. Being at work all day after surgery and after being able to take it easy at home.....well, trust me, the first week or two of it is just not much fun at all.
170935_tn?1225374676 I was wondering if anyone can explain how the vagus nerve may be irritated by gas/acid/indigestion. Also how is it true that the vagus nerve can be stimulated when you have a bowel movement? I have heard people say that they get PVCs when they have bowel movement. Is there anyone who believes that their PVCs are triggered by gas or acid or even a bowel movement?!!
