Heat stroke vision

Common Questions and Answers about Heat stroke vision

heat

Avatar f tn I'm in limboland, but I've always been heat sensitive. I had heat stroke when I was younger and have had or been on the edge of heat exhaustion quite a few times. I strongly dislike summer due to the heat. I'm in upstate NY and our summer isn't horrible, but we tend to be humid. And, I can count on at least 2 weeks worth of 90+ heat (over 100 with the heat index). In the last year, when I'm overheated it seems worse then it used to.
Avatar f tn I'm a golfer playing in Missouri now in temperatures in mid to high 90's and with heat index over 100. We call it "Survival Gold". All sorts of usual symptoms occur to people from thermal (heat) stress leading to heat exhaustion, heat prostration and the potentially fatal "heat stroke". If this only occurs playing golf in hot weather and in the sun and no other times then it likely is a part of heat stress for you.
Avatar f tn To me what you are describing whilst exercising (running), wouldn't actually be unexpected, if you are also getting hot and sweating more readily even when your not running. You'd be hitting heat exhaustion/heat stroke territory a lot faster than normal, if your body already isn't cooling through your skin properly, the addition of running would be demanding oxygen goes to the muscles in your legs and away from your skin.
Avatar f tn By the way, there are different types of vision issues after stroke. Which does he have? vision field loss, eye movement problems, visual processing problems, and then things that fall into the 'other' category like light sensitivity. Memory loss after stroke often also improves, occasionally spontaneously. What type of stroke did he have, do you know? Is he in the hospital or home with you?
Avatar n tn How long ago was your stroke? What kind of stroke did you have? What does your doctor have to say about the migraines?
Avatar n tn My husband stated he had a weird experience that he thought he was going to die today. He was driving down the road when he suddenly felt like someone was squeezing his head then he suddenly lost his hearing and began to lose his vision, his eyes began wondering and he couldn't control them. He slowly pulled off to the side of the road because he thought well this is how I am going to die. The back of his head started to burn and he stated he could actually feel the heat.
Avatar n tn I have heard that once a person has had a heat stroke, they can not tolerate the heat anymore. It seems to do something to our body's chemistry. I have not had a heat stroke, but, I am extremely heat intolerant. I am always hot, and I must be in the A/C or I get short of breath, PVC's and feel horrible. I am even hot in the winter. One thing besides heat stroke that can cause heat intolerance is an over-active thyroid and also a lack of natural progesterone.
Avatar f tn Could be high blood pressure. Or, if it's really hot you may be experiencing heat stroke.
Avatar m tn I was unconditioned, first time in a while submitting to such a strenuous activity, and I had developed what I felt was nauseating heat stroke. The chloropsia set in, I told the coaches, and sat out. I later decided to drop out since I had never conditioned myself to play a sport this vigorous in my life, and that summer had JUST BEGUN, that my chances of this occurring a THIRD time would definitely happen. Prior to this, I had experienced chloropsia during another strenuous hot-day activity.
Avatar m tn i am 38 years old male, off recently, im experiencing, that at times, i kinda feel blackened out on sides of my eyes, with double and blurred vision, with pain sensations in my forehead and throat, wonder what is that?
Avatar m tn Also, improper eye protection can cause eye strain, effecting vision and also more muscle tightness/fatigue. Lastly, it could also be heat/environment related sinus passage effects. Caused by the above, plus many other factors. So; cover your head, drink plenty of water, avoid sugars, take regular vitamins, protect your eyes and use sunscreen.
Avatar f tn I suffered severe heat stroke before all of this happened. I will see if I can be referred to this type of doctor you speak of. Thank you for your help!
Avatar f tn So last Wed around 1 am I got up to use the restroom and all of the sudden my right eye was a bit off I had blurry vision and my pupil was dilating weird and I felt funny in my head. My tongue felt swollen it lasted for a few mins and then it happened again last Friday again Sunday and again today. With out the swollen tongue that only happened once. Am I having TIAs and can you have them multiple times a day every day?
Avatar f tn A year ago I believe I suffered some heat exhaustion/stroke and since then, when i start getting hot during activities, i get chills up and down my spine, arms and legs. My calf muscle on my left side will tingle/becomes numb, i get dizzy , my face gets red, i can feel my heart pounding in my head and my breathing is rapid but shallow and i have trouble regulating it for a few minutes. It scares me.
Avatar m tn s actually someone like a real stroke but heat stroke or heat exhaustion affects the brain in a different way and the ongoing symptoms are related to the body's reaction to heat or sun. Not everyone experiences ongoing sensitivity, and yours may ease off. But in my case, it was permanent. I remember those two incidents very well to this day, man I was sick (unbelievable). So in a way I am not surprised.
Avatar m tn I would say in general terms that loss of peripheral vision be it from glaucoma, stroke, retinal disease like retinitis pigmentosa or other causes is usually not something that can be rehabilitated. There are some new computer programs with vision simulators that try to help patients try to rehabilitate the use of lost peripheral vision mainly from stroke and there has be at least some encouraging, though limited, results with that.
Avatar f tn Three months ago I was at work and had a heat in my head. I began to have a strong tremor with weakness on just the right side of my body. I lost speech and consciousness for a few minutes. I continued to have difficulty speaking and walking for a few hours. I also had blurred vision during this time. I had a CT to test me for a stroke/ brain tumor my CT and MRI came back good. I have had these symptoms almost daily for a month with a stutter. I have never stuttered in my life.

Avatar f tn I have had migraines for over 3 years since my stroke which the neurologists seem to think were caused by my stroke. And I have since read many posts from others who have migraines after their strokes. But there are many treatments that the doctors can do. You need to find a headache specialist or at least a neurologist.
402504 tn?1241996524 t heard of with MS. It is typical of somebody with heat stroke or heat exhaustion, however. When somebody first gets heatstroke, or just extremely overheated, they'll get nauseous. I don't usually recommend Gatorade, as it's such a high-calorie drink, but try half-and-half Gatorade and water. It'll help rehydrate you and replenish some salts. I live in Texas too, and on Saturday it was so hot and humid, I seriously considered moving.
Avatar f tn I had what they call a stroke - it was caused by burst aneurisms in my brain. It took 9 surgeries and finally a shunt in my head. That was September. What I want to know is, is it 'normal' to feel pressure and sometimes a 'giddy' feeling? Apparently my brain will take at least a year to 'heal'. I am doing really well, but my head feels this way, and my neck where the shunt tube goes swells..
Avatar f tn my dad as lost some of his vision in one eye due to having a stroke would it be better if he was to wear a eye patch on that eye to take the strain off this eye? also when you have a stroke what happens to the mass in your head? will this go away now hes taking aspin?
Avatar f tn After some anxiety my husband said it was nothing but cut off circulation so I got up and got myself a heat pack for my still very sore neck. I made sure I didn't lean or tilt my neck again in the same way and finally got back to sleep. I went to docs next day who sent me straight to hospital. CT was clear nearly 24hrs after the event, bloods were normal and a Doppler of the carotid arterys were also normal as well as a neck X-ray.
