1027005 tn?1300050172 Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced a rash that starts on their belly and travels up. I was in the doctors office for it and also the hospital for heart problems and they said they don't know what it is. The nurse said it could be a heat rash, I live in Michigan how in the world could I have a heat rash at this time of year? Also, it's getting worse as the days go by it's been a week since I've seen a doctor and they said it would go away when I called yesterday.
Avatar f tn Shingles only occurs in a dermatomal pattern. If it is on your face and arms it is probably not shingles. Most of the time with shingles you would have a burning sensation for a one to three days prior to any eruptions. An allergic reaction could last this long if you are still in contact with the allergen. Sometimes things that we were not allergic to before over time you can become allergic to.
Avatar m tn Hi, ive included the pic. Just not sure whether it's heat rash or shingles. It looked like a cluster of pimples. It's gone in like 1-2 weeks. This skin problem occurred at the back just below my waist on my left side. When this happened, i remember i was sweating a lot at that area because of the hot climate here in my country.
Avatar n tn Painful rash is usually seen in shingles. If multiple nerve paths are involved it may look like a generalized rash. Please discuss these possibilities with a skin specialist. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn I have been to an internal medicine, Derm, and allergist and no one can figure out what is going on with me. I had an outbreak of a pimple/blister like rash all over my arm and legs. I was put on a heavy dose of prednisone starting at 40mg then 60mg next round, steroid cream, benadryl, sarin lotion. Finally after months it went away. It now is back and on my neck and spreading on my cheeck and chest. Im going through the whole routine again but nothing is helping.
Avatar f tn ve been putting anti-itch cream, taking showers with oatmeal bath, and keep the water at high levels of heat. Unfortunately, the rash has expanded. now it has gone up my back and on the core of my stomach. Also for some reason, I have an itchy rash on my hands and thighs. I don't know what I should do to ease the pain and allow it to go away naturally. I have a feeling it might be hives?
Avatar f tn Shingles are exxxxxxxtremly painful--. Take a photo of your face, lips when it breaks out. Then take it to an infectious disease doctor vs. dermatologist--he/she will know either way what's going on with you. You could be highly allergic to s/thing in the salon. Photo will show dr.a good view of your problem.
Avatar m tn Shingles rarely causes blindness. You may have gotten shingles even without the predinison, it happens. There is a risk you could get shingles a secont time (4%). You need to take your concerns to an eye MD ophthalmologist. Shingles does not cause "heat waves" in the eye.
Avatar m tn A urinalysis and urine culture may be done to help determine if a UTI is present .Heat rash may also be a differential here especially in areas of the arm pits or in well covered areas. Have these tests done first so that the right management be given you.
335728 tn?1331414412 Hey Rena - It sounds to me like shingles. Do not be fooled, you DO NOT have to have the actual rash to have shingles. Hallmarks of shingles are severe pain and the area to remain on one side (if you said it hurt on BOTH shoulders, it would not be shingles - the virus never crosses the midline). Picture your innerbody as a tree with branches outstretching. These brances are nerve endings. When shingles occurs, it affects say, one tree limb, and all the branches off of that limb.
251991 tn?1239296030 I have been nauseous with fever and chills, was told by nurse it was shingles, I been on vertex for 3 days now and still sick on and off and the sun and heat make the pain like needles into my head worse and burning, does my diagnose sound right? a week before I dyed my hair and a day before it came on I mowed grass. What is your opinion? I also only had very mild case of pox as a kid.
Avatar f tn 5 weeks ago I broke out in a rash right above my crotch on the right hand side near my hip bone. The rash was bumpy and red, I assumed it was a heat rash as it started while I was on vacation in the Caribbean. 3 weeks after the rash appeared I started getting concerned that it wasn't going away. I went to the dermatologist who diagnosed it as shingles, as it was only on one side of the body and had starting crusting over in some areas, also that it had started spreading left.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and said it may be strain or an insect bite. He said heat may help. I applied heat today and now the pain around the hairline at the base of my head and where the lymph node is, is burning and it feels like the hair is being pulled or if my skin to too tight Also the scalp is extremely sensitive and my hair hurts on the left side of my head.
Avatar f tn I did what you said and I went back to the doctor today he said to finish my medication like you said he also checked my head and the back of my neck which has a slight rash on the right side and prescribed an anti-inflammatory medicine he thinks I either have an anti-inflammatory infection or could be shingles as I am 50 and have had the chickenpox when I was little so he's not quite sure, and I looked up shingles and I have some of those things but I don't have a rash like that but tod
1571730 tn?1314725245 It's been 3 days and I've had the rash, the one in the picture it hasn't gotten better, and it seems to have blister (or fluid filled bumps) one ended up bleeing a bit yersterday and I have no clue what it is. I'm not sure if it is a heat rash or some kind of other rash. It hurts and itches really bad.
Avatar f tn Hello, It can be due to contact dermatitis, allergic reaction, heat rash or herpes simplex. Since the child if less than 12 years of age, I suggest you to get the diagnosis confirmed from a dermatologist before using any topical product. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar m tn Welcome to our Forum. I'll try to help but without the ability to examine you and perhaps test, obviously I cannot be sure. I do agree with your analysis however. It would be unusual for an episode of HSV to occur on the anterior thigh and five weeks is long after it would be expected for a first episode of HSV to occur. Further, as you point out, the risk of acquiring HSV from any single exposure is quite low. At this time, there is not much else you can do.
Avatar f tn Hello, There are many possibilities for such a rash like allergic reaction, fungal rashes, shingles rash, viral rashes, heat rash, sweat dermatitis or pityriasis rosea. To confirm the diagnosis, please get an evaluation done from a dermatologist as treatment for all is entirely different. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
1774720 tn?1422402559 Hello, Unfortunately the pictures could not open but from the symptoms, it can be dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic), heat rash, viral rash, scabies or excessive sweating causing sweat dermatitis. You may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid deodorant / cosmetics.
Avatar m tn About a week ago I had started to get these strange bumps on my arms, they looked like small bug bites but they didn't itch. Then yesterday I took off my shirt and saw that these same type of dots are on my chest. There not filled with any puss and they don't itch, and today, i noticed the same bumps on my upper thighs and groin, along with my back.
Avatar f tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis, allergic reaction, heat rash, sweat dermatitis or scabies. If the rash turns painful and forms blisters, then shingles has to be ruled out. Avoid using any lotions and creams for the meantime. Use a mild cleanser with moisturizing properties like Cetaphil. Also use cotton clothes and change the clothes twice if there is any increased sweating. Try keeping the skin free of sweat as far as possible.
