Avatar n tn i was put on nexium over a year ago for very severe heartburn. currently still on it. but if it is heartburn, it obviosly is not doing the job. ive also been told that maybe its severe stress. whats your take on this. i would love to have the tests done just to know, but funds are tight right now.( theyve also mentioned having a endoscoppy) lastly i had a docter prescribe nito spray to me months ago. i never used it.
Avatar f tn am on aspirin, bisoprolol and simvastatin. previosly had atenolol. if i have angina it is hard to detect. i have episodes of heartburn which doc says are angina attacks. i have just had a thyroid lobectomy. blood levels were borderline high and i had constriction probs, and wonder if that was causing the breathing probs, heartburn and palpitations.
Avatar f tn What type of surgery are you going to have? I disagree with RedStar partially. Acid Reflux can mimic Angina, as it can cause chest pain, but it doesn't cause the left arm and hand pain that Angina causes. I'm a veteran of Angina issues and also have had life-long GERD issues. My sister in law is a Naturopath so I tried the digestive enzyme supplements with great expectations of success, but I crashed and burned, so to speak.
Avatar m tn Everyday I have horrible heartburn I wake up everymorning feeling sick to my stomach and I have frequent bowel movements with soft shapless stools and when I wipe there is blood on the toilet paper this has been going on for about 7 to 12 months...
Avatar m tn Have you seen a cardiologist regarding this? It almost sounds like a type of angina, but then again, I do not think angina last that long. I would certainly get checked by either a cardiologist or gastroenterologist.
Avatar f tn Have you been diagnosed with angina? Have you ever felt anything like this before? Here's a decent explanation of the differences in symptoms and when you'll feel the symptoms of each: https://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletter_article/Ask_the_doctor_Whats_the_best_way_to_tell_heartburn_from_angina_or_a_heart_attack For example, it says that you're more likely to feel GERD when lying down, just after a meal, things like that.
Avatar f tn What are the informed, educated questions to ask and make the right decision on continuing meds vs stents vs redo bypass. My mother is a doctor and needs to ask the right questions to the surgeon and make informed, educated decision for my father.
Avatar m tn I woke up with esophageal squeezing felt it inside my chest and radiating to jaw, i thought it's variant angina my doctor says it's from GERD but i don't feel the heartburn with the squeezing, i'm a runner with good health and 21, could it be variant angina?
1274110 tn?1270788561 Had a double bypass 9 years later. Had to quit work in 2004 because of severe angina and shortness of breath. EF of 40. Was on 60mg of Imdur 2 times a day and nitro patch. Doing EECP every 6 months to keep angina tolerable. I am a I have been taking 1000 MG of Ranexa twice a day for about 6 weeks. I came off of Imdur 60 mg twice a day and a nitro patch. It was working but now I get real bad heartburn and my GERD (acid reflux) is back. Has any one had a similar experience?
627646 tn?1325170607 What is most important is that your doctors clearly determine the cause of your angina--ie coronary disease vs esophageal spasm because the overall treatment approach will differ. Hope this helps. Best, Dr.
Avatar f tn What tests need to be done to determine if it is Angina vs. costochondritis. This discussion is related to cause of angina.
Avatar f tn Is it possible to have angina or heart disease when your blood pressure is normal? Ive had chest pain on and off radiating sometimes to both upper arms. also shortness of breath at times and fatigue. also some flu like symptoms. when I rest I get much better. but it doesn't go away completely and in the last few days it has been worse than ever. I woke up with heartburn which is strange because I never get indigestion. I am not sleeping well which is also unusual.
Avatar m tn I have been diagnosed with partially blocked heart arteries, and am waiting for a triple by-pass operation. My symptoms are not typical of angina though as I get no chest pain, only a stitch-like pain across both shoulders when I walk any distance, which is relieved by rest, and often by burping. I don't get shortage of breath, and the nitro spray I was given has no effect.
Avatar f tn Ok so it's been a week that I've been having horrible heartburn, my chest hurts extremely bad it's hard to breath I also feel like there is something literally stuck in my throat!! I have tried zantac but it seems not to work at all has anyone had this before and what did u do to make it go away?
1547952 tn?1293907781 I remember my first time feeling this symptom, everyone kept telling me it was to do with heartburn. I was 46 years old, and was pretty sure I knew what heartburn felt like. This was totally different, it was a horrible sensation, nothing like a burning. Another clue as to whether or not this is angina, is when it occurs. Below are some of the things which would kick my throat discomfort into action... 1. Going out into cold air. 2. Walking up stairs or similar exertion. 3.
Avatar m tn I know this seems just like typical unstable angina, but I had them normal test results. I have a few questions here if you could be so kind to answer i would greatly appreciate it. 1.N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic Peptide predicts significant coronary artery lesion in the unstable angina patients with normal electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, and cardiac enzymes. Does that seem like a good test for CAD that you know of?? 2.
Avatar m tn I tried to resolve my blockages with drugs, exercise, and diet, but continued to have angina and finally heart attacks, rejecting stents or bypass. For whatever reason, I don't grow good collateral arteries that some people develop to feed oxygen to the heart in areas where blockages are present. Stents greatly improved my heart function, combined with drugs, exercise, and diet. I have four drug-elluting stents and four bare-metal stents.
1475836 tn?1287128808 just recently about a year ago, my stomach is so bloated that it goes into my chest area making it hard to breath and i have heartburn so bad that it feels like a asthma attack. could the reflux surgery come undone?

Avatar n tn ========================================================= Coronary artery spasm is recognized as a cause of ischemic heart disease, producing a syndrome of the variant form of angina that occurs at rest. Spasm also may play a role in other types of rest angina (unstable angina) and exertional angina. Calcium is essential for the basic tonus of vascular smooth muscle.
