heartburn

Avatar m tn Everyday I have horrible heartburn I wake up everymorning feeling sick to my stomach and I have frequent bowel movements with soft shapless stools and when I wipe there is blood on the toilet paper this has been going on for about 7 to 12 months...
Avatar f tn I had a small relapse in Oct, but never smoked more than 2 cigs a day until Nov 27th which is my official quit date now. I found that smoking a couple vs a pack a day made the withdrawal more tolerable the second time. I smoked for 33yrs and now have never felt better and the way to start quitting is to just do it!! Good luck, we're here for you.
Avatar n tn I had an opposite effect as you. Though I took the Wellbutrin to quit smoking, I didn't really have any anxiety side effects...I started taking Lexapro for depression and within a month I started having panic attacks. My doctor told me to increase my dose, which I did, and then I started having panic attacks 2-3 times a week. I didn't think the Lexapro was the cause so I continued taking it until I found out I was pregnant.

Avatar f tn Chantix is a drug to quit smoking and works on the neurotransmitters in the brain. After I took this drug for two months my thyroid problems kicked in. I did have a nodule pre-Chantix, but it was being watched and there was no growth. Now I'm having big-time thyroid problems. Went to a x-mas party and two other women had thyroid problems, fibromyalgia type symptoms also. Any others out there with similar scenarios???
Avatar n tn There is no increased risk of cancer in Graves patients treated with RAI vs other treatments. There may be some mild nausea or heartburn, but this is transient. In rare cases (< 1%) there may be a painful inflammation of the thyroid after RAI which is sometimes associated with severe hyperthyroidism -- this is transient and can be treated medically. WOMEN WHO MAY BE PREGNANT MAY NOT TAKE RAI AND WOMEN SHOULD NOT BECOME PREGNANT FOR 6 MONTHS AFTER RAI.

Avatar m tn Not sure what that means yet. Inflamation levels 2/3. Other than some heartburn like pain in my spine between the shoulder blades I feel pretty well. No external signs of cirrhosis. I know, no drinking, smoking, fatty/salty foods etc.. I've managed too behave myself and am keeping a positive and confident attitude. I will be seeing a specialist in a couple of weeks to find out exactly where I am with this and what treatments are available. Wish me luck!!!
Avatar m tn I have such terrible fatigue and memory loss, and can't get rid of 20 of the pounds I gained last year when I quit smoking. I would love to lose the weight and have my energy back.

Avatar f tn Mamacita, yes. Like smoking or not smoking is a personal choice. It's just good that since this is a public forum, other people can read this who aren't even in this conversation and can learn.
Avatar f tn I also should point out that I have a history of anxiety (since I was 19 or so) which was pretty severe at times, as well as heartburn or GERD, which was also really severe in the past. (Both my anxiety and heartburn have lessened in recent years, but still pop up.. just not as frequently and intensely as they used to.) I can feel that I am pretty out of shape.
Avatar n tn Are you snacking after your last meal? or before bedtime? Are you waking in the middle of the night and having a snack, or drinking something other than water? Weight: You have not told us your current weight. What is it? Metformin (glucophage): Can you tell us your dose and when/time you take your medication? You may be taking your medication to early or need it modified to compensate for the early morning rise. Have you discussed your symptoms lately with your doctor?
Avatar n tn When it came right down to there being a major life-threatening problem, there was pain. My dad described it as a truck parked on his chest with a big metal spike through the middle of it. Incredible pressure and a pain like something had gone through his chest. Prior to that, his symptoms were identical to reflux, which he also has. He experienced five years worth of increasing "heartburn" episodes before finally having a heart episode.
29837 tn?1414538248 From: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/541568 "Drinking 1-3 cups of coffee per day was associated with a 40% decrease in the risk for alcoholic cirrhosis vs drinking less than 1 cup (P < .001). This protective effect was dose-dependent: less than 1 cup per day, 0.7 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.4-1.1); 1-3 cups, 0.6 (95% CI, 0.4-0.8; P < .001); and 4 or more cups per day, 0.2 (95% CI, 0.1-0.4; P < .001).
Avatar n tn Read the below - it should help you make decisions about RAI vs other treatments. There are three ways to treat hyperthyroidism - PTU/Tapazole (anti-thyroid drugs (ATDs)), I-131 treatment (RAI) and surgery. Usually surgery is a last resort for Graves Disease but is sometimes suggested with over-functioning nodules or with hyperthyroidism in the setting of suspicious nodules.
544341 tn?1234992477 More gastric acid would also seem to indicate more heartburn. And there is more. Some people with heartburn also experience acid reflux, where the stomach acid is actually forced up into the esophagus. This is where you experience that feeling like a chemical burn in your chest and throat. For some people this acid reflux actually becomes quite frequent and is called Gastroesophageal reflux disease. Adding more stomach acids can only mean increased problems in this area.
Avatar n tn I found out that sometimes in the morning i use milk with my cereal and i have stomach issues that clear up as the day goes on, at night if i get heartburn i drink a cup of ice cold milk, and it dont seem to effect me, but i also just discovered i like chocolate soy milk and that actually makes me feel good.... 17174583 tn?1456156546 He never did a liver biopsy arguing with his hematologists colleagues that is his liver and no one will touch it. He eats only organic and fresh. No smoking, alcohol, fried food. Dinner at 5 p.m., after that nothing. He drinks lots of spring water, and the tea he makes it himself in the morning from chamomile, mint, elderflower and others. He is taking vitamin D3, Nigella sativa, milk thistle, and liv52. He looks very great , full of live and strong, as I have seen.

Avatar n tn Latest holter done in March showed sinus arrythmia vs. sick sinus syndrome. No clear diagnosis though. I was on a higher dose of the atenolol during this holter which I think caused the lower heart rates. 5. I've had since November chest squeezing right in the center that only lasts a few seconds but can come back in a few minutes. Dr. says I'm too young for CAD of course. She put me on protonix 40mg 2 times a day and it's a little better but not gone. Thank-you!
1323357 tn?1274826939 It took time and effort, but you replaced the smoking habit of thought with a non-smoking habit of thought, with positive thoughts. And then, for argument's sake, let's just say that if, a decade after that, that you're at a party, and an old friend offers you a cigarette. You think, why not?? and you smoke it. Now - does that mean that you're back to square one, hooked all over again? Of course not. The positive habits you've built up in the meantime are what count.
Avatar n tn I take vitamins, fish oil when I remember, sometimes take pepcid or whatever is around the house for heartburn... No medical problems besides sleep and occasional social anxiety, but the anxiety has gone down alot over the last year. Except for the incidences I'm talking about.
Avatar f tn The doctor performed the CABG on RPDA, OM1, OM2, and the 1st diagonal. We did not get the information on the catherization results or the arteries that were bypassed during CABG until a week ago. I finally got around to read these records couple of nights ago and I'm very concerned about the other areas that show blockages (distal RCA and LAD) that were not addressed. What should we expect?
