Common Questions and Answers about Heart operation technology

operation

Avatar m tn I would also appreciate it if you could tell me the chances of the operation succeeding and how far technology will get in case of a further operation within the next ten years. If you would like any further information just contact me via email. I would be grateful if you can respond back to me as soon as possible.
Avatar f tn Only a Eye MD ophthalmologist that examines your mother could tell you if anything might be done to help her vision.

If you have the valve replaced now, you are stuck with the artificial valves and surgical techniques that are available now. The technology is getting better all the time. You probably have been advised that you need to be monitored by a cardiologist from now on. Keep your appointments, so you will know when it is truly time.
Avatar m tn I know my unit broadcasts a signal at certain times, because my old heart in-home monitor only needed to be within 50 ft or so to pick up my pacer signal. Would there be some way to link or pair my pacer to my smart phone so that in the event I was having a cardiac crisis, it could notify 911 or some other service to call for help?
Avatar f tn I had my operation of retinal detachment in 1999 by silicon oil technology by one of our doc suggested us not remove oil right now but i hd no vision tht time... its 2016 and is there any technology which can repair my retina... i hv zero vision by one eye and partial with orther one...
Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar n tn Any operation involves some risk and the risk of complications is higher if a IOL is explanted or exchanged after a Yag capsulotomy. However with an experienced surgeon the risk would not be high and the ReZoom is an "old technology" IOL in my opinion.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar n tn Sorry for my previous misplaced entry(new to this site) My daughter had a mixed immature and mature teratoma (18 cm) removed 5 years ago. Her right ovary was removed at the time and she never had chemo. Since the initial operation she has been monitored closely with MRI's, CT scans, AFP and there has not been subsequent evidence of malignancy.
Avatar m tn Having a past detachment increases your risk greatly of having another one in either eye. Intraocular surgery like cataract surgery also increases your risk in that eye. Have a "heart to heart" with your surgeon about the risks. If you need the cataract op to see, do it. I have done many such cases and have rarely had a problem. Also, have the retina checked. If there are any suspicious areas which may result in a hole, you might have them lasered in advance of the surgery.
Avatar f tn Hi Tess, this guy has got to be kidding, he doesn't have a clue. i have an ankle that on the border of needing to be fused, i'm in constant pain. i'd live to have a replacement ankle but the technology isn't quite there yet, yes they have the replacements but there plenty of problems that people incure according to my podieatrist (spelling, foot doctor). i have had my ankle scoped 3 times and one major ankle operation.
Avatar n tn Thank you for your reply, yes you are right the advances in technology will hopefully create something for him. The Surgeons had mentioned a new operation of clipping on a lens instead of sewing them in so that could be an option for him one day.
Avatar n tn good luck and i sincerely hope it works out well for you and you can put your heart situation and your issues behind you...i know it is very difficult.....
Avatar m tn No, I'm not taking medicines, but had a knee operation ten years ago. And then I was given more pills than I'd ever had before - I'm a believer in natural methods. However I understood the need for them - my pulse and pressure readings were constant while I was in hospital. My pulse has always been low when I'm relaxed. It can go down to 48 when working at the computer. I don't get as stressed out as my colleagues, because I remain fascinated by the technology.
Avatar n tn My father just had a retinal detachment eye operation in which the doctor used gas (in July's 1st week), but the my dad got the same problem again. so the doctor suggested that we go for oil operation, after this 2nd surgery on 22nd july, dad got severe infection in the eye. The infection was controlled. Now when we went to doctor for a checkup after 2 weeks, he has again told that my father might need Inferior Retinectomy. Dad is saying that his eye has no any improvement yet.
Avatar n tn my father having hernia problem, he had heart blockages too 90,99,90% we come to know in an geography, we don't want to do bypass sugary but want to do hernia operation whether it is suitable for him???
Avatar n tn I apologize for the delayed response. I had surgery two weeks ago and have been out of commission. To answer your question questions. It would be difficult to comment on your echo without having your previous echo to compare. Most important in any imaging test is the trend which occurs over time.
Avatar n tn There is a mixed view on when to do a valve operation. The Mayo Clinic's renown heart surgery states publically that the biggest problem he see is that the patient waited too long. Waiting too long can require an operation when the left ventricle is enlarged and that condition would reduce the EF, and an operation subsequently the EF may never return to normal function.
