Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
Avatar n tn There are different risks associated with different procedures. Is it Angioplasty ? Or an open heart? Also, what hospital are you going to? Each hospital has different risk factors as well. I'm from the Indianapolis area and have heard that of the Indianapolis Hospitals Community Health Network is one of the better ones you can go to! Good luck with your search!

Avatar m tn s from Delhi are said its risky to go for stone operation since he also have a heart problem. Is there any hospital in India to do this type of operation.Kindly let me know ASAP. your early response will highly appreciated.
Avatar m tn If there is an overload of fluids (volume) that condition will/can overwork the heart and as a result the heart becomes weak and almost always the heart size will increase. The 15% of blood pumped into circulation with each heart stroke can back up the blood received from the lungs and fluids can leak into lung tissues and cause congestion... There has to be a reduction of fluids (blood volume) before there can be good heart pumping functionality, and that may cause a delay for the implant..
Avatar m tn after a heart attack an m i should still still be getting slight pains in chest if i am what should i do?
1303001 tn?1272992360 Sometimes Doctors refer artificial hearts as being ventricle assist devices which are put inside the chambers of the heart to assist the pumping. The good thing with this is that you keep the original heart and the heart rate can still change, which I don't believe a mechanical heart can. Mechanical hearts have been used to keep a patient alive until a donor is hopefully found. I know there has been a lot of research in artificial hearts in the US and Japan, using animal tissue.
Avatar f tn Well his bladder cancer was advanced, I guess that's why they had to remove the whole bladder but it hadn't spread to any other organs. He has a history of heart problems, arthiritis and lung issues. He still has yet to gain strength in his appendages but is still alive...so would it be safe to say that he's in the clear or at least that his odds of survival have increased?? If so by how much? When do you think he will be released from the hospital and able to return home?
367994 tn?1304953593 This can cause your heart to work harder to pump blood eventually causing heart failure — a chronic condition in which your heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet your body's needs. If the infection progresses untreated, it's usually fatal. The usual protocol are high doses of intravenous antibiotics in the hospital. Blood tests may help identify the type of microorganism that's infecting your heart.
Avatar m tn Still in hospital. When trying to get out of bed for physio his breathlessness is unbearable he is exhausted and cannot even hoist himself out of bed without help. He is eating well, has no pain from op. But is also depressed because he can only shuffle to the bathroom and has had several embarrassing accidents without warning. Is this normal? (he is also diabetic with a 70 percent chance of his kidneys clicking in again but in the meantime is wearing a catheter).
Avatar f tn hello, i have 39 week of pregnancy and my fetal heart rate is not good, docter advice me the operation which i cant afford.the dr said due to low heart rate my baby will be in risk if u decided to have vaginal birth.
Avatar n tn My husband underwent a heart bypass in October last year. Almost immediately after the surgery, when he returned from hospital he experienced (cold weather) angina-like pressure on the chest. In March, this year, he was checked by the hospital doctors (had his bypass veine checked - I do not know the English word for it) and they found out that the bypass vein had closed down due to the blood pressure in his "old" veines was higher than in the bypass.
Avatar f tn (She has been experiencing fast heart beat of 80-100 associated with a volatile blood pressure for the pass 3 weeks post operation). Her normal heart beat is 65, with blood pressure ranging from 120-140 before surgery. Our home nurse (arrange by the hospital) advise us that my mom's wound is infected, and with her condition like this, we should send her back to the hospital which we did.
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar f tn Take a test and If you are you need to go to the hospital asap in case its tubal, they will need to operate right away.
Avatar m tn They took 19 lbs worth of fluid out, did all the imaginable heart tests and bottom line his heart is working at 25%. They sent him home and his hospital cardiologist said he would need to have an aortic heart valve replacement. He's stubborn, and refused any surgery so they gave him meds to keep the fluids down, but now a month later he is filling back up and has come to the conclusion that to have a chance to live normal again he must have the surgery.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar n tn My Mom just got out of the hospital after having her implant. She is having a difficult time breathing when she moves or talks. She doesn't really have much of an appetite and can't get comfortable to sleep. She went bck to the doc yesterday and they noticed that she had fluid around her heart and her device wasn't in sync with her heart. They called themselves tweeking the device and told her to see how it works for her but nothing much was said about the fluid around the heart.
Avatar n tn After the attack, he suffered severe pain in his neck for 2 to 3 years. A few weeks ago he had another very severe heart attack. He was in the hospital when it happened waiting for a heart catherization which was to be done on Monday. His heart attack happened on Saturday morning. Except for being in the hospital, he would have died. Even with that, they only gave him a 20% chance of making it. He beat the odds but is not doing well. The severe neck pain has returned.
Avatar n tn So, out of hospital, people are less likely to be affected than those patients in hospital with open wounds and weakened immune systems. MRSA would make them very ill indeed.
Avatar n tn This all happened right after the operation so it has me thinking there is something more going on here. They checked her heart, blood tests etc, everything seems to be coming out ok from my knowledge. I just am not sure what to do or what is going on. Does anyone have any ideas? I would greatly appreciate. it sincerely paul.
Avatar n tn it was believed my prior heart attack and enlarged heart caused the MVR, and there was a possibility the valve could return to normal with treatment...it hasn't. Based on what you state, the report indicates a grossly enlarged LV, and that may contraindicate a surgery at the present time in order to treat and reduce the heart's size. If that is not possible, then to wait any longer is not in the best interest of a successful outcome.
Avatar m tn In 1999 i had a correction to a coarctation with a 20mm Dacron interposition and in October 2000 i excised a bicuspid aortic valve, replaced with a 24mm cryopreserved aortic homograft. A couple of weeks ago i was admitted to hospital with left heart failure, pulmonary oedema and orthopnea. My surgent said that the valve replaced ten years ago is leaking and must be replaced however, he gave me two options which consist of the two types of valves i can choose one from.
Avatar m tn Today she is back in the hospital dignoses with non-emergency fluid around the heart and in the lungs. They plan to drain the lung fluid today and the heart tomorrow. What next??? Will there ever be a happy ending?
