Common Questions and Answers about Heart disease exercise studies

heart

Avatar m tn Atkins has more research on it than any other diet because it was developed originally to prevent heart disease (the creator, Dr. Atkins, died of heart disease!) The research showed that the diet did not work in the long run and was unhealthy in the long run, as it's too high in protein and too low in antioxidant rich foods. That's not to say it doesn't have its champions, but it hasn't panned out as hoped over time.
Avatar m tn as for getting free from heart disease the only thing you can do is watch what you eat and exercise and get checked out regularly by a dr.it can happen to anyone.
Avatar m tn Aerobic exercise has the most benefits for your heart. Over time, aerobic exercise can help decrease your heart rate and blood pressure and improve your breathing. I have been doing 30 minutes a day on the treadmill and resistance training with heavy weights for about 10 years. Seems to help... Thanks for the question and if you have and followup questions or comments you are welcome to respond. Take care.
Avatar m tn AND, since many have become westernised, they have certainly started to see the real effects of heart disease. Erijon is correct in that these individual cases are often used to try and disprove the benefits of medications, but they never use the full story. It's the same with the French paradox for the English. Our neighbours consume tons of dairy products yet have very little instance of heart disease compared to us.
Avatar m tn Lundberg for teh same) and apart of the study is as says (Whereas exercise PVCs were related to the heart rate increase with exercise, recovery PVCs were related to coronary disease (previous myocardial infarction, coronary revascularization procedure, or pathological Q waves on resting electrocardiogram# and ST-segment depression). My Questions: 1- What is the meaning of heart failure–free patients in this study. 2- what is the meaning of (related to) in the statement above?
Avatar m tn signs of congestive heart failure and chronic lung disease Neurologic examination: muscle bulk, tone and strength; deep tendon reflexes; sensory and cranial nerve evaluation Laboratory studies — Extensive laboratory evaluations in the absence of a positive history or physical examination are of little value. In a prospective study of 100 adults with the chief complaint of fatigue for at least one month, laboratory investigations identified the cause in less than 1 in 20 patients.

Mammo is correct, you should in my opinion exercise daily, take a statin drug that your doctor recommends, but don't take this lightly. Are you diabetic, and do you have high blood pressure? I'd also address these issues aggressively. Stay in touch.
Avatar n tn Also, my pulse rate is usually high around 90+ during this recovery time. My heart has been checked out okay but these palps after exercise are really bothersome. They also will last for most of the day once they start. Any ideas what's causing this?
Avatar m tn Your doctor knows the major limitation of the stress test approach is that it requires high-grade stenosis to indicate heart attack risk. And high-grade stenosis, while a good indicator of advanced arterial disease, is NOT the major cause of myocardial infarctions (heart attack).
Avatar n tn This is because your heart is not getting enough blood under stress. Also, if your heart disease is more of a form of cardiomyopathy such as LVH or dilation of the heart, you may feel more rhythm issues. Everyone is different so everyone feels things differently. Unfortunately a heart attack is the first symptom 50% of those with heart disease experience so it is important to have this talk with your doctor.
642877 tn?1281799282 You do not want to wear out your heart muscle. Cardiomyopathy is disease of the heart muscle. Exercise does not make it better according to studies. Exercise makes people feel better, but does not make the heart any healthier once there is a diagnosis of cardiomyopathy.
Avatar m tn Lack of exercise is a risk factor for coronary heart disease. Is it because no exercise can increase cholesterol or is there some other reason.???
Avatar n tn Physical Signs of Heart Disease Swelling of Your Feet and Lower Legs Retention of fluid in the feet and legs is known as peripheral edema. Edema may appear as "sock marks" at the end of the day. Mild peripheral edema is common. Your doctor may check for this sign by pressing a finger against your ankle or shin bone to see if a depression is left behind. This is called "pitting edema.
Avatar f tn Anyone with heart disease needs to know that there is no cure, and it takes total commitment in treatment. It will take some time to get the right combination of meds, building up the strength to exercise daily and of course, quitting some things we do that are not right for our well being.
Avatar n tn ) I think your answer is the right one. What I meant is also..still normal, but almost not normal.:).....if we put abnormal over normal ...but if we put in under....OK....I'll stop .. ...it reminds me if the "glass is half full or half empty?
Avatar m tn If you are out of shape, and overweight then I am guessing you don't exercise much (logical conclusion). With lack of exercise, you are not going to notice the limitations much, but now that you are being affected with low exertion then I would concur with the Cardiologist that there must be a significant blockage. If thee is anyway that you can get the Angiogram then I would have it done because it can become 100% quite quickly.
