Guaifenesin, how much is an Overdose? My daughter 11 years old 100 lbs (big for her age), took (the correct dose) 5mL cough and cold medicine that had the following in that dose. Guaifenesin, USP 100 mg, Dextromethorpan HBr, USP 10 mL. Phenylephedrine HCI, USB 5mg. But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose.
The ingredients are acetaminophen, guaifenesin, and phenylephrine. Will any of those ingredients caus a positive drug or alcohol test?
I am surprised that the doctor found nothing wrong with the amount of phlegm you seem to describe. Do you smoke (QUIT if so !) or have asthma or seasonal allergies? IDK what that has to do with it, I'm just wondering.
Have you tried products containing Guaifenesin? This incredient thins secretions and is found in Mucinex (pricey) and products like that - BUT, if you can find a generic or plain Guaifenesin, you will save tons of money.
I get a stabbing pain right through the centre of my right eye - can last for upto a few seconds at a time and is extremely painful...eye waters and i find applying a small amount of pressure helps to relieve it....
Doesnt seem to be linked to anything else - ie foods stress etc...can happen anywhere anytime...can happen couple times a week then could go months without getting it...
Just wondered if anyone gets the same thing ? or if anyone can give me some clues as to what this is...?
You could also use ways of increasing cervical mucous as well such as anything with guaifenesin. Which would be Robitussin. (Just the plain kind). You should also drink a lot more water, try out some green tea and try out evening primrose oil.
All of those things will improve the amount of cervical mucous which will inhance your chances of pregnancy. It'll also help your body lubricate so that everything isn't as painful.

I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.
The alternative is guaifenesin, which you can buy over-the-counter. Mucinex contains guaifenesin, but I would get the plain guaifenesin. It works very well.
I do know you only need the plain kind, nothing else should be in it just guaifenesin. If you get the one with that is mixed it can have the opposite reaction. Also you need to drink plenty of water!! YOu have to do this in order for it to work. I just started taking clomid and i read to start the guaifenesin on day 10 till ovulation. On a website for fertility i read that you need to take 200mg three times a day!
when we are off these drugs for a week or longer, and our bodies have already detoxed and begun functioning without it, the possiblity of having an overdose is very high. An overdose from vicodin feels like your throat is closing, your heart beats really fast and it is hard to breath. It is the worst feeling in the world. My experience was light compared to what i heard could have happened from opiate overdose. People end up in comas and can die.
yes, well sort of. It's Guaifenesin an ingredient found in cough meds. You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.
i began taking the cough syrup without researching it and now a friend of mine is saying that it contains a large amount of alcohol. i tryed to contact my doctor only to find that shes gone for the week and i have searched the internet and found no answers.

All I can tell you is a gram and a half could very easily be an overdose amount. If you had taken that amount any other way besides snorting - you wouldn't be able to get on the computer right now... If you have any respiratory or heart problems though - get medical help and be on the safe side.
If you aren't going to get medical help, the best thing you can do is get as comfortable as possible and try to relax yourself.
Guaifenesin to be specific?
It requires you to take upto, but not limited to 2400mg of guaifenesin (Mucinex) daily. He says that with this protocol, you will notice that your symptoms will at first become worse, but will gradually disappear. He swears this is the way to reverse fibro. Now, when I heard this, I was obviously a little skepticle (who wouldn't be when you are told that Mucinex is the cure for fibro!) So I wanted to know if anyone here has heard of or tried this approach.

The insult leads to permanent injury or severe complications when the dosage of Acetaminophen exceeds 7,000mg in a single dose or greater than 4,000mg/24 hours over an extended period of time (6,000mg spread over 24 hours is enough to cause harm in some patients but usually it takes this amount of Acetaminophen daily for days-weeks to cause harm in most patients).
