746399 tn?1233070072 What does it mean when your cat has watery eyes or gugcky eyes, an eye discharge? When is it necessary to go to the doc, and when it is just like a cold? Assuming Cats get colds.
Avatar n tn However, several weeks ago I developed a bad sinus infection and along with it I started to have green/yellow discharge coming out of my right eye, which has since spread to both. I was given a strong dose of antibiotics for the sinus infection along with eye drops to combat the eye infection. Unfortunately, the drops and antibiotics has not stopped the discharge from my eye(s). I have seen an eye doctor and he said I don't have an eye infection.
Avatar m tn She has had it for about 2 weeks now. Her acual eye looks fine but, she has a green discharge coming from her eye. She can open her eye but, she mainly keeps it closed. I don't see any swollen tissue in or around her eye. I was going to put "Equate's" version on neosporen on her eye because I read online someones vet said it has the same ingrediants as a medication they use for their eyes. I can't remember the name of that meication though.
Avatar f tn My other cat Kramer was adopted at the same time, from the same place, and had even more health problems in the beginning, does not get this eye discharge. What is wrong with my cat? Should I be concerned or is this just allergies? His eyes are not red and he doesn't seem to be bothered by anything else...no itching, no sneezing, nothing inflamed. He eats normal, goes to the bathroom normal, plays a LOT with his brother, etc.
Avatar n tn Sudden onset or temporary clear discharge from the eyes can be caused by injury (although this is unlikely if the discharge is from both eyes), allergic reaction or an upper respiratory tract infection - just like when humans get watery eyes when suffering from a cold. If your cat has a respiratory infection he is likely to also develop a wet nose.
Avatar n tn This is commonly from an upper respiratory infection, which is from several viruses (like herpesvirus, etc.). The good thing is none of them are contagious to you. Lysine is certainly benign enough. Make sure to isolate your cat from other cats (i.e., if she's an outdoor cat, she may be catching this outside from other cats).
Avatar n tn I would not try the boric acid on a cat because you don't know if it'll do harm or not. Is there a reason you don't want to hear the suggestion of a vet? The discharge from the eye could be caused by glaucoma or an eye infection, both of which can cause blindness if you let it go. Sorry, there is no magical cure that we can offer to spare you the expense of a vet.
Avatar f tn If the watering is mild and just clear, it could be nothing..My one cat occasionally has a watery eye or sometimes both that I wipe when I see it (maybe 1-2 times per week). However, she never squints or has any indication of a scratch/ulceration of the cornea.
Avatar n tn I don't know what the discharge is or what it means. I had to try a few different kinds of cat foods before I found one that my cat likes that she isn't allergic to. My cat is allergic to grains.
Avatar f tn My cat had eye discharge I took her to the vet and was told she has Herpes. She has beautiful blue eyes and no swalling or redness. The vet gave me some eye drop that was made in their office ( I was told this is not over the counter medication) . After using the medication for about 4 weeks, I noticed my cat's eye had small patches of black spots in them. I took her back to her doctor and was told I should not warry about it.
Avatar n tn 2 weeks later, noticed lots of sneezing, followed by clear eye discharge. we did terramycin eye ointment for over 3 weeks, no improvement. then the PCR test was done and results were positive for mycoplasma, so we did 3 weeks on doxycycline (cycle ended yesterday). some improvement, but now more sneezing and still some clear eye discharge. yesterday, our vet recommended 2-3 additional weeks on doxy, told me it could be allergies or just a stubborn mycoplasma infection.
6542587 tn?1382274108 Green discharge from any area means INFECTION! When caught early, eye infections are easy to treat....If left too long without treatment, it will spread to both eyes and can create more serious problems down the road....Even just scratching the inflamed eyes can lead to other eye ailments..... Please get her into your Vet tomorrow and have this treated.......DO NOT use any OTC products on her eyes...She MUST have prescription ones from your Vet...Good luck and let us know how she is....
Avatar m tn The tear duct pain seems to be gone. But the yellowish discharge is still with me and my eye was glued shut again this morning. Also the discharge seems to persist during the day and I frequently find my eye-lashes are coated in the gunk. I plan to try to make an appointment with my Opthalmologist when their office opens on Monday morning. However, given my long history of eye problems, I am curious what this may be. And the best course of treatment until I can get in to the doctors.
1084962 tn?1256479052 i rescued a kitten recently and it was a bit young and now having trouble with its eyes. having yellow and green discharge and buildup . i have to wash its eyes out, what can i do for the kitten and what causes this?
Avatar n tn If the eye has green discharge, you can use antibiotics (Polysporin eye drops or so). If the eye is itchy and swollen, could be allergy to something. Also check for foreign bodies under the upper eyelid.
1008040 tn?1279159403 i am have a green slimey discharge and i am have slight cramping along with gas could this be my period getting ready to start or something else i should worry about am curious and a lil uncomfortble
Avatar n tn You need to see an ophthalmologist. Green discharge is a sign of a bacterial infection. Dr. O.
Avatar m tn I have a 5 year old cat. She had a eye that was taken out about a year ago because a foreign object cause her looked like a giant marble. Her eye heeled very well. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that she had fluid in the cavity. The area does not look infected and she is eating well. Does anyone know what is going on?
Avatar f tn While bloody discharge is never normal, colored discharge might mean amongst many noncancerous conditions- pregnancy, duct ectasias, fibrocystic disease(especially if there is lump), and Galactorrhea(relating to medicines and hormones). So many of the conditions as you well can see are not serious, yet it is required that you consult your doc right away and get an ultrasound and mammogram, as required. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn You can try warm compresses and an allergy eye drop like Alway or Zaditor. If it is an infection not usually a lot of itch but pus like discharge.
Avatar m tn redness is gone and discharge crystallized then went away for awhile. The discharge is back. white, yellow or green in color. when it is white in color you will see it go across eye to inner corner. eyes r watery and itchy. There is no redness or swelling. No other health problems. Just the eyes. What is it and how do i get rid of it?
Avatar m tn I have a 7 mo old shelter cat who has been examined no less than four times now, by two different vets, for a cloudy area in his eye that has presented recurring issues. He was examined under anesthesia and the pronouncement was congenital corneal adhesion. The problem is that the adhesion seems to want to chronically ulcerate, sometimes seemingly painful with clear tears & a thick mucus, on other occasions with a dark brown discharge.
Avatar m tn My Cat Thomas, got into a cat fight recently and he must of caught a claw in the eye. the last few days his eye seemed to be getting worse by the hour. i immediately used NFZ Puffer for his eye to help fight infection, it seems as nothing i tried is working just a day ago i noticed a goose egg type bump by his cheek bone. later that day it burst leaving blood drops all over. i tended to it by putting some peroxide around the wound. today it seems like it has done nothing but swell up.
Avatar n tn My outdoor cat has a brownish/bloody? discharge from his eye from time to time. It is hard to catch him for a vet visit, so I haven't been able to take him. What could be the causes of such a symptom and what can I do to help him? He now seems to be going blind in one eye but I'm not sure if it is related or not.
Avatar f tn Maybe a yeast infection? I had green discharge as well and it didnt start hurting and itching till about a week or two later so I had no idea they were related but that is one of the signs of one. It could just be nothing though too. Just keep an eye on it. Good luck!
Avatar f tn The eye drops did not help and now she is 80% blind. Still the green discharge in her eyes. She’s always had a ravenous bottomless pit appetite and has always been a big drinker but still maintains her svelte 10 lb figure. Prob drinks 4 bowls of water a day and pees and poops ALOT. Now her fur is falling out on her back and sides and her legs are almost bald. She doesn’t seem to be in pain but sleeps a lot (which she always has even brefore this).
Avatar n tn Hi, OK - discharge, especially milky discharge is often a sign of an eye infection, which requires antibiotic treatment pretty immediately. If the discharge comes back, and you might get some swelling and redness, then I would say it is an infection. Unfortunately, if left untreated, eye infections can lead to blindness and sometimes require very expensive surgery. However, since you say the discharge has gone away...
199284 tn?1200685250 I hope this is just me panicking for nothing. I noticed just now that my cat's left eye is dirty. There is a bit of excessive tearing going on there and the "tears" or crusties, which have no color, are abundant in that eye. Is this normal? Should I take my kitten to a vet? He doesn't seem to be bothered by the boogers. The eye doesn't have any red or green mark around the pupil or anything. The eye is just unusually wet. If this is a problem, what's there to give him?
