I am a mother of 4 boys my youngest having downs syndrome I was diagnosed a year or so go with early stages of graves disease plus now been put on meds for high blood pressure and antidepressant and now being accused of drug abuse and having failed a drug test then taking another and passed could the meds and any otc interact with this.

Thyroid Stimulating Immunoglobulin (TSI) is the definitive test to diagnose Graves Disease. Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb) are both needed to diagnose Hashimoto's).
You should also ask for a thyroid ultrasound to check for nodules, since, sometimes, nodules produce hormones on their own, independently of the thyroid.

I was diagnosed with graves disease and had the radioactive treatment to destroy it a few years back. I have had a few times where I did not have my meds for a week at a time. Is it normal to feel so tired and cranky? Also I took Zirtec for my allergies and I felt like I was cloudy and just wanted to sleep and tightness in my chest..... I am currently on 137 mcg of Levothyroxine.

I am glad I found this site, I found out today that I have graves disease, I also have a multinodular goiter and I had a thyroid scan and it showed a cold area, so I have to have a biopsy. I am so scared, I have never really been sick and now all of a sudden I get this. Has anyone had a biopsy on a nodule and how long does it take for the results to get back? All of your labs are over the reference ranges (except TSH) and indicate that you have hyperthyroidism, of which Graves Disease is the main cause and since your TSI is definitely positive, that would be your diagnosis.
Some people do have, both, Hashimoto's and Graves Disease at the same time, with one or the other dominant...
They suggest hyperthyroidism. A FT-3 along with them, could have distinguished between autoimmune Graves' Disease or just plain ole hyperthyroidism. However, it really doesn't make a differtence treatment wise, for both are treated the same way.
Hello. I'm 36 and I am almost 9 weeks pregnant. I have Graves' disease and had radiation treatment back in 2009. I hadn't been taking my thyroxine constantly for a few months as I was super stressed and now that I am pregnant haven't missed a dose. My thyroid levels are still very high and I'm worried that this will affect my baby's brain development/IQ levels. Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'm scared and worried.

I have been going to an Endocrinologist for almost 1 year. He has done several ultrasounds showing that I have 5 tumors on my thyroid. I have a biopsy which showed they were benign. I recently had another ultrasound which showed one of the tumors had shrunk but another one appeared.

hi I have recently seen my doctor about 2 lumps on either side of my neck, he done blood tests which he said were basically fine, I am now having blurred vision and the lumps are causing uncomfortable ache in the back of my head, I have read about graves disease and many of the symptoms I have, could the doctor have missed graves disease?
I just went to a new doctor. I saw 2 doctors(endos) they said continue taking these meds and test in 6 weeks. They also agreed that my tests really don't fit Graves disease anymore. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I had my cortisol tested in August and it was normal 17 after a fast. Maybe it's piuitary related. All I know is I don't feel well at all.

I was diagnosed with Graves disease 11 years ago. My endo prescribed Methimazole, which I was allergic to, so he told me he didn't want to prescribe me anything else because sometimes the allergy kills the thyroid. It apparently did, because all of a sudden I was hypo and I had to go on synthroid. Since then, I lost my health insurance and got handled by my PCP instead of the endo (cheaper).
It depends on the type of antibody you test positive for. There are several. You don't happen to have test results...
