Common Questions and Answers about Graves disease joint stiffness

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Graves disease 11 years ago. My endo prescribed Methimazole, which I was allergic to, so he told me he didn't want to prescribe me anything else because sometimes the allergy kills the thyroid. It apparently did, because all of a sudden I was hypo and I had to go on synthroid. Since then, I lost my health insurance and got handled by my PCP instead of the endo (cheaper).
Avatar f tn I have to say, I agree with jensequitur for suggesting thyroid disease. I have graves disease myself and I have had joint pain, muscle fatigue, irritable bowels, and hair loss. As far as the neurological related symptoms, I can relate to that as well, and that is why I have joined this forum. I have read and been told by my doctors that with having one autoimmune disease the chances of getting a second one is very possible.
Avatar f tn I have been having difficulties quite sometime now and labs show normal but I feel terrible and eye doctor suspects graves disease (I never mentioned anything to him regarding thyroid issues). I also have insulin resistance and arthritis. Fatigue, bone pain, irritability and extreme stiffness after doing physical housework, walking and other activity are everyday symptoms I have learned to live with. Lab results were as follows: TPO AB 7 TSH 0.93 T3 Uptake 24 antithyroglobulin AB <1.
Avatar f tn Dx w, hypo 5yrs ago I was placed on Levo 25mcg w/ some improvement in my multiple s/s. I run a low tsh and low t4. I started eating very healthy, exercising/weight training 3d a wk, and taking multiple supplements. Life was really becoming better. In Nov of 2011 my world crashed...extreme fatigue w/ days of exhaustion and severe joint/muscle pain. The mental fog and memory loss was only complicating my job with the other symptoms.
Avatar f tn Joint hypermobility syndrome, kyphosis, mid-thoracic joint dysfunction, sacral pain and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. She also said I was ½ inches shorter since 2005, and could have osteoporosis. She assessed me as 46% disabled, but did not know why? At my doctor’s appointment in March 2008, I wanted to know what was wrong with my WHOLE spine, and sacroiliac area, and WHY I have loss of function in my legs? The doctor said the stenosis was not bad enough to cause my symptoms.
Avatar m tn Question is has abdominal cramps while running been reported by athletes with disease along with muscle and joint pain. Also what is the reported time span of the thyrotoxic phase of the disease.
Avatar n tn In December I came down with fifth's disease and had a fever with severe joint pain. I developed a viral rash on the fifth day and they but me on a steroid. I started feeling better but noticed my knuckles felt "stiff" about a week later on NYE. I continued to feel tired with a green mucus cough and was put on a zpack. By the end of the month I was noticing that my feet hurt to walk on the soles when I woke and that my hands hurt in the morning also. I felt stiff.
753274 tn?1233594136 Hi, I have been diagnosed and treated for hyperthyroid disease, my numbers were huge, just went through the RAI treatment 3 days ago, my question is about my joints, the inside of my elbows and my fingers and my right heal have been bothering me for at least 6 months, is this related to my graves disease? If so, will the problem go away after my hyperthyroidism is corrected? sometimes the pain is so bad.
Avatar n tn My daughter was diagnosed with Graves on June 4th. She is 6. Luckily, I'm a teacher and have been able to stay at home with her the past couple of months to get this under control. I feel like our lives have been turned upside down. We started out with a sore throat and a diagnosis from an ENT of Thyroiditis......We ended up seeing a pediatric endocrinologist in an emergency visit because of her heart rate. We've been on methimazole since.
Avatar f tn I am a 25 y/o female diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 16 and later with Graves Disease and Goiter. I have been on Tapazol along with Atenelol (for the Tachacardia) off and on for the past 9 years with no results. Every doc I see wants to discuss nothing but RAI or surgery. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a few years with no success. I finally found out that I was pregnant the beginning of last year and made it to 4 months and suffered a miscarriage for no apparent reason.
Avatar f tn -The pain and stiffness come on quickly, whether from an injury or an unknown cause; you may be experiencing the onset of rheumatoid arthritis. -The pain is accompanied by fever; you may have infectious arthritis. -The pain develops quickly and is associated with redness and extreme tenderness of the joint; this may be the onset of gout.

Avatar f tn When you go see the doctor, ask to have a CBC w/ Differential, A comprehensive Metabolic Panel and a basic Rheumatologic panel (Check specifically for ANA+Titer/pattern, CRP, ESR, RA factor, and Anti-CCP Sometimes you can have joint stiffness as a result of something called Reactive Arthritis but because you haven't seen a doctor in a while I can't tell for sure.
