Avatar n tn I'm a 53 year old woman who just had a 3 hour glucose tolerance test, here are my results: Fasting - 106 1 hour - 210 2 hour - 230 3 hour - 167 I'm not sure if these results mean I'm a pre-diabetic or diabetic. Thank you for your help in advance.
Avatar f tn The test *****. It is dreadful simply because the test always makes me sick. Too much sugar! I have one coming up this Friday and I really don't want to go. So you might get sick but the best way to get that stuff out of ya is to drink lots of water eat a little something and go to bed. My results always came back all good but as ya get older your body does that aging thing and the body tends to the dumps. Just to put it nicely.
Avatar n tn I had a glucose tolerance test and an insulin fasting (drinking the glucose drink) blood test done. I have seen my results but have not had them interpreted for me. My glucose fasting results came back within normal range but my insulin fasting results came back out of range for the 0,1, & 2 hour results. They were much higher than the normal ranges. Does this mean I have insulin resistance?
5864651 tn?1396931970 I was was wondering what the glucose tolerance test involved I live in the uk and have the 3 hour one on the 8th of january im currently 27w1d. All that it says on the letter ive got from the hospital is that its 3 hour and I have to starve myself and only drink water from 11 oclock the night before.
Avatar f tn So I did my 1 hour glucose tolerance last week and got my results today. Kinda upset...they came back abnormal. They like for the glucose to be under 140 and mine was 164. About 3 hours after drinking the glucola last week my sugar dropped to 42, luckily I'm a nurse and noticed what was going on and immediately checked my sugar and then ate. But anyway...I go back on Friday to do my 3 hour glucose and am so nervous it is going to come back positive too.
Avatar f tn You shouldn't be fasting before the glucose test.. I was just told today to eat breakfast before I come in, and then once I drink the stuff I can't eat until after the test.
Avatar f tn I just got my glucose test results back by checking them online. Well since the doctor hasn't called me yet (cause its after hours) I was hoping someone on here would be able to help me. It says my result is 67. And the value is "normal glucose tolerance level". Anyone know if this means I passed?? Im too anxious to wait till tomorrow to know.
Avatar n tn "i had a blood sugar test (the finger ***** one) and my level was "perfect"." If you had soap or alcohol residue on your finger the test results would be imperfect. If the meter was old and mishandled, uncalibrated, test strips expired the test would results would be imperfect. The OGTT is one way to help determine blood glucose levels. Be sure to fast 8-10 hours prior. No food or colored liquids during this period. Don't cheat. Just a little bit skewers the results.
Avatar n tn How much the sugar varies from before meal to after meal seems to be the issue here. The glucose tolerance test is the correct test to see how your body reacts to high levels of carbohydrates. It does sound to me as if you perhaps vary more than is ideal, for a low of 57 or high of 256 is something that even diabetics try to avoid.
Avatar f tn So a couple of weeks ago I went for my glucose test which came back 8.8 which here is in the Grey area so I was sent for the 2 hour, they make you fast for 12 hours prior to the test, drink the stuff and sit so I have about 20 mins left in the first hour and felt like I was going to pass out, the techs were talking to me and I was having trouble concentrating on them. Hubby helped me to the washroom and then laid down in there room and felt a little better.
Avatar f tn U will get all your results when u see your midwife at your 16 week midwife appointment xx
Avatar f tn Impaired Glucose Tolerance A person is said to have impaired glucose tolerance when the 2-hour glucose results from the oral glucose tolerance test are greater than or equal to 140 but less than 200 mg/dl. This is also considered a risk factor for future diabetes. There has recently been discussion about lowering the upper value to 180 mg/dl to diagnose more mild diabetes to allow earlier intervention and hopefully prevention of diabetic complications.
Avatar f tn I have a glucose tolerance test tomorrow & I have not been given any information on or about it. My mum has rang my GP surgery this morning for info and they have told her that i can't have a cigarette after 10pm tonight until I have had my 2nd blood test... is this right? No hate please about smoking in pregnancy I just want advice because surely a cigarette has nothing to do with my sugar tolerance...
