Avatar n tn I'm a 53 year old woman who just had a 3 hour glucose tolerance test, here are my results: Fasting - 106 1 hour - 210 2 hour - 230 3 hour - 167 I'm not sure if these results mean I'm a pre-diabetic or diabetic. Thank you for your help in advance.
1057195 tn?1289363329 Hi ladies, have anyone taken the glucose tolerance test as yet. I am scheduled to have mines on the 29 of April. At my last vist my OB said I have glucose in my urine. She said it could be because I had just eaten before my visit. Has this happened to anyone?
470168 tn?1237471245 The last time that happened I stuck to the diet and then went for the glucose tolerance test, which came back normal. I have recently been under alot of stress and admit to having been comfort eating and drinking! This has sent my blood tests high again and I have been asked again to go for a glucose tolerance test. My question is, if I stick to this diet and lose some weight (i need to lose about 20 pounds). Could I prevent ever being diagnosed as diabetic?
Avatar n tn I am 30 weeks pregnant and took the 3 hour GTT last week. I was told by my doctor's nurse that I "passed with flying colors", in addition to the nurse at the hospital where I took the test telling me I passed. When I saw my OB this week, he said he wanted me to see a dietician and follow a gestational diabetes diet anyway. His reasoning is that I was on "the high end of normal" for my fasting glucose. Apparently, they want it at 95 or lower and mine was 98.
Avatar n tn Adrenaline raises glucose levels by stimulating the liver to change glycogen into glucose. When normal glucose regulation fails with type 2 diabetics, the kidneys are forced to remove excess glucose via the urinary tract. This usually is caused by insulin deficiency. In your case this does not apply. I have read that one of the common symptoms of POTS is reactive hypoglycemia, lowering of glucose.
1209036 tn?1299178657 During this second test, called the 100-gram oral glucose tolerance test, your blood glucose level will be tested four times during a three-hour period after drinking the cola-like drink. If two out of the four blood tests are abnormal, you are considered to have gestational diabetes.

20620809 tn?1504362969 m not opposed to fish but lots of food prep is not my style. I wonder if the Mediterranean diet could be followed by a lazy person? What do you think? Did you find exercise needed to be part of this or does that not have any impact on glucose levels?
Avatar n tn In the early 90s, I was diagnosed as Extreme Reactive Hypogycemic. Current medical professionals don't seem to know what that term means. I was almost killed recently while in the hospital, because they thought it was regular hypoglycemia and drew blood without giving me anything to eat or drink. I need to find out the current, correct medical term for my condition so that this won't happen again.
Avatar f tn I would recommend a OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test). My glucose was normal on fasting but abnormal two hours after drinking glucose. My fasting insulin was high and even higher two hours. (I would recommended insulin to be tested as well). In my case too much sugar in my diet lead to insulin resistance but hyperthyroidism caused impaired glucose tolerance.
390388 tn?1279636213 So a glucose tolerance test has to be done to tell whether or not the cells are getting the glucose. If the blood sugar is too high after a meal then the glucose is still floating around in the blood stream and not getting to the cells as it should. The pancreas will keep pumping out insulin so eventually it goes back down to a normal level and that explains why it's not uncommon for people to be a type 2 diabetic for years and not know it.
Avatar f tn So I did my 1 hour glucose tolerance last week and got my results today. Kinda upset...they came back abnormal. They like for the glucose to be under 140 and mine was 164. About 3 hours after drinking the glucola last week my sugar dropped to 42, luckily I'm a nurse and noticed what was going on and immediately checked my sugar and then ate. But anyway...I go back on Friday to do my 3 hour glucose and am so nervous it is going to come back positive too.
649848 tn?1534633700 I, recently, had a Glucose Tolerance Test due to fluctuating fasting glucose and weight issues, but the worst symptom is tiredness/afternoon crash. The results of the GTT were as follows: Fasting: 97 1 hr: 165 2 hr: 124 3 hr: 48 L 4 hr: 56 L Over the past 5 years, my fasting glucose levels have ranged from around 97 or 98 all the way up to 125, but never over 125. My A1c has ranged from 5.5 to 5.8 over the same period and my doctor has said I'm pre-diabetic.
Avatar n tn How much the sugar varies from before meal to after meal seems to be the issue here. The glucose tolerance test is the correct test to see how your body reacts to high levels of carbohydrates. It does sound to me as if you perhaps vary more than is ideal, for a low of 57 or high of 256 is something that even diabetics try to avoid.
Avatar n tn Hello ladies, so im 29 weeks and 4 days and my glucose test came out high.. What are the things I should worry about??
Avatar f tn ve never had abnormal fasting glucose levels but my glucose went too high however after I drank a glass of glucose (2 hour oral glucose tolerance test - OGTT) which showed I had impaired glucose tolerance.
Avatar n tn Now a dx of Diabetic Type II has been made based on a 3-hour Glucose Tolerance Test. Told that Dr a year ago there was more going on that merely Thyroid and Perimenopause. Was I ever right! Turns out that in an overview of regular blood tests, I don't indicate any problems. Because of that, he turly believed nothing would be found abnormal. Fasting blood glucose is still in the Normal range despite it takes 3 hours on the GTT for my glucose to get back to a normal level.
Avatar n tn When reading your comments, it occurred to me that your symptoms, including the slightly low glucose reading on your glucose tolerance test sound more like hypoglycemia than diabetes. Hypoglycemia means that your blood sugar is too LOW, not high (diabetes).
Avatar f tn I have had my first glucose test and it came back as being abnormal and my doctor has sent me for an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. With everything that's going on in this pregnancy I forgot to ask the doctor if this would mean that I would definately have Gestational Diabetes. Can anyone help???
