Common Questions and Answers about Glucose test strips walmart

Avatar f tn If repeated testing is required, buying the test strips in bulk may be beneficial. Some stores may offer strips at a reduced rate. You could discuss with a pharmacist as to what would be the most suitable option. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
798555 tn?1292787551 Anyone use this brand? Since its only $10 at walmart, I wonder about accuracy. Test strips are more affordable too than the others..
866901 tn?1505506236 Just two days ago I bought a ReliOn Micro glucose meter at Walmart for $12.00. A box of ReliOn Micro test strips (50) only cost $21.94. I don't know if this will help. I haven't learned how to use it yet. It's a very small meter and needs no coding. My Vet didn't mention buying a meter, but I went ahead any way. So far I have taken her in once for a glucose test and will be taking her again the end of the week.
Avatar n tn No Rx required for test strips. Try wherever you purchased the glucose test meter, or online at Amazon or web sites like americandiabeteswholesale.
Avatar n tn I think if he had test strips to check his glucose levels he would check. He understands how important it is now and is getting scared due to some numbing in his toes. My questions is "does anyone know how he can get test strips at a very discounted rate or even free?" Thanks for you help, a very concerned Mom.
Avatar m tn I would advise a cheapo Walmart blood glucose meter and a 10 pack of strips and test yourself. Age, body mass.....I hate to tell you this, but you're a prime Type II diabetes candidate. If you're concerned about getting back into shape, a blood glucose test is an essential tool in getting there.
Avatar m tn I did something really dumb today and now I'm scared. I was unclogging a toilet when some of the water splashed my hands. I have open wounds on my hands. When I looked down into the toilet I saw some used blood glucose test strips. I didn't see any blood. I immediately washed my hands with plenty of soap. About 1-3 minutes later I washed my hands again 3 times. About 10 minutes after that I washed my hands twice more and disinfected them with alcohol.
Avatar m tn m not aware of any free resources, but I understand that if you get the right meter, Walmart has very low cost strips. Also many people report buying strips on eBay for greatly reduced prices. I would talk to your doctor or a local clinic, though, because sometime there are special offerings for free diabetes supplies through pharmaceutical companies, etc. I also notice right on this site ads for free supplies through dlifedotcom. They are a reputable organization.
866901 tn?1505506236 In googling "blood glucose test strips", I found several websites which offered test strips and glucometers at varying prices (ie.http://www.diabetesnet.com/test_strips.php). Since your cat is going to need lifelong care, it will pay for you to shop around.
Avatar f tn I took him in with classic diabetes syptoms and when they did the glucose test his results were low. At one hour he was 50, two hours 70 and three hours back down to 50. So she told me he was hypoglycemia even though prior to that we had never recorded any lows like that. I will check that website. Thanks.
Avatar f tn s interesting that you question the accuracy of your glucose meter for I was reading the September 2008 issues of Consumer Reports that rated both blood-pressure monitors and blood-glucose meters. Only one blood-glucose meter scored excellent overall and also scored the highest for consistency- the Johnson & Johnson Lifescan OneTouch Ultra Mini. The Ultra Mini was followed by Ascensia Contour, ReliOn Ultima (WalMart), and Accu-check Compact Plus.
Avatar n tn Thanks to both of you. As far as I know, the meter is OK and the test strips are well within expiration. The doctor is very, very hesitant to write a prescription for test strips, so I buy them. It's absurb because with my insurance I could test four times a day free. As it is now, I really hoard the test strips. Yes, I try to watch the carbs and sugars, though I fell off the wagon during the Christmas days and that's probably why I'm showing the higher numbers.
Avatar n tn It would help to know the make/model of your glucose meter. This way we could search the availability and low cost pricing of these unknown test strips. You can start by writing to the mfg to see if they offer free or reduced cost supplies. You also can search for and inquire at free clinics in your area. Use Google search for free clinics XXX, ZZ, where XXX is your city and ZZ the state. Another source which provides links to "free" diabetic supplies is http://tinyurl.
Avatar n tn is this necessary? do i need the glucose test if my blood sugar test came back just fine??? thanks for the help !
798555 tn?1292787551 You shouldn't need an Rx for test test strips as they are not drugs. They may be kept behind a counter or in a locked display case to prevent theft but I've never seen/heard of a need for an Rx. If in doubt talk to your local pharmacist. As far as meters go, I use the J&J OneTouch UltraMini [last rated #1 by Consumer Reports for consistent accuracy]. You can obtain a FREE OneTouch by filling out the questionnaire on the link below. Comes with a five day supply of lancets and strips.
Avatar f tn He said I could have breakfast like two eggs and so i did maybe that made my test high.....Now I have to make an appt. for the 3hour glucose test.....I hope I don't have gestational diabetes that scares me....I have never had that with my other pregnancies....I'm scared! What happenes when you do have diabetes? Does it go away after birth? What should I do before taking this other test? Can someone advise? Thanks!
Tbd The start up kit also came with a discount card than lowered the test strips to about $15 per 50 test strips. I only test once a day in the morning unless I have any issues, so the test strips last a little longer than one that needs to test 3+ times per day.
Avatar f tn I am lead to believe pumpin and dumping doesn't work. The alcohol stays in your milk while its in your system. When you sober up, your milk should be fine. But i would definitely recommend alcohol test strips to be safe.
Avatar f tn Second, does your home meter require calibration to test strips? Do the test strips have an expiration date? Can you see a doctor and get tested properly? Ask for an A1c which will average your past 2-3 months glucose levels. The results are presented in percentile [%] which when converted to eAG [estimated Average Glucose] tells you what your daily glucose was. This will tell you your status - normal, prediabetes, or diabetic.
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and started testing my blood glucose at home with the One Touch Ultra 2 monitor. The test strips that I've been given are pre-coded, so I do not have to do anything to my monitor prior to testing, other than insert the strip.
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
