Avatar f tn My partner has been trying to lose weight forever!. When I met him he was about 76 Kilos, 7 years later he is now 82. He is not very tall (5' 6'') so I guess he is about 2 stone over weight. He does not eat very much but unfortunately drinks too much. For a long time I have suspected he is 'glucose intolerant', in that even when he has carbohydrate available he goes shaky and experiences 'low' blood sugar symptoms.

If you are obese with increased body mass index and if you lose weight, exercise and eat a good glycemic index diet then you can improve your PCOS. If you have diabetes or glucose intolerance then Metformin can help you as well to control your blood sugars. Therefore there is a lot you can you with diet, exercise, weight loss to improve your condition.

Avatar m tn Uncommon- Weight gain, particularly around your midsection and upper back, Rounding of your face (moon face), facial flushing, Fatty pad or hump between your shoulders (buffalo hump), Slow healing of cuts, insect bites and infections, Thicker or more visible body and facial hair (hirsutism), New or worsened high blood pressure (I don’ think I have this since I am not overweight and I am young) There are some on the right side as well, they just started to appear, I stretched that area maybe
Avatar f tn I have experienced extreme weight gain with PCOS. Struggling with weight loss. Any suggestions? Very depressing!
Avatar m tn If you are having too many calories and not burning them off, by moving and excerise, you will gain weight. Try drinking more water. When I was at WeightWatchers, they used to say that sometimes when we feel hungry it is that we need water. If 10 minutes after drinking you still feel hungry then have something to eat. You could see your doctor to check for glocose intolerance and also underactive thyroid gland. An underactive gland slows the metabolism and hence weight gain.
Avatar n tn Many type 1 diabetics find that they gain weight when their doctors work to normalize their glucose levels, and they tend to blame insulin for making them gain weight. The real cause is that their carbohydrate foods are being used better when insulin is working.
Avatar m tn I also have not experienced the insatiable hunger that a lot of individuals say that they have experienced with hyperthyroidism. Soon, I will begin treatment for this disease and have learned that people gain weight. My question is are people gaining weight from the drug or are people gaining weight from not adjusting their food intake to their progressively lower metabolism.
Avatar f tn Ive been on a low carb diet and watching my sugar intake etc. Like i said the doctor just told me to watch my weight gain and what i eat which i have been.
Avatar n tn Eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day to provide your body with the minerals and nutrients needed for healthy weight gain before training. Fruits and vegetables contain glucose, which will provide your body with the necessary energy for a successful workout. In addition, the high fiber content in fruits and vegetables will prevent constipation that may occur when eating large amounts of carbs and proteins. A serving is about the size of a tennis ball, or one cup.
Avatar f tn I was overweight before I for pregnant and at first they said they only wanted me to gain 20, but no one has mentioned my weight. I walk 2 miles a day and my doctor says that's great.
Avatar f tn prolactin, FSH, alderosterone, GH, cortisol, also lipid panel, cbc and comp should be done... in addition to thyroid and possible even glucose tolerance. Pituitary affects a wide variety of endocrine functions.

Avatar f tn Thank you ladies! I try not to worry about the numbers on the scale . But I'm just so tiny idk where I've gained 27 pounds lol my dr hasn't said anything about my weight gain, and everything has been fine. My next appt is Friday and I'll doing the glucose test so I'll ask then if my weight gain is an issue. I do plan to breastfeed so hopefully that helps me lose weight too!
Avatar f tn I've always been thin, am 5'2 and at most weighed 120, usually 112-115. For the last 2 years I have just gained consistently and was last at 133 despite healthy eating and watching calories. I am not pregnant but all my weight seems to go to my thighs, upper arms and breasts. My face hasn't changed at all and my stomach is relatively flat depending on bloating. Which can be considerable on some days making me look 6 months pregnant. This bloating also makes me feel terrible.
Avatar m tn Suggest eating more protein foods, such as yogurt, eggs, cheese, and milk with your meals to help you gain weight and lower your glucose levels. Suggest eating a light snack of protein food with starch just before bed and see if your morning levels go down. If not, stop the snack and speak with your Doctor. Thank you for your question.
Avatar f tn Some celiacs gain weight and others lose weight. My children are both gluten intolerant, yet one loses weight and the other gains if they eat gluten.
Avatar f tn At night, you could even try putting a pillow under your legs to elevate them. The weight gain might be fluid retention--water weighs an awful lot, and it's really hard to put on fat fast enough to cause super rapid weight gain. It could also be that your medication is too low. An endocrinologist would definitely be a good doctor to see.
Avatar f tn Symptoms of hyper could be weight loss, tremors, mood disorders, heat intolerance, rapid heart rate, etc. Symptoms of hypo could be weight gain, cold intolerance, muscle/joint aches/pains, GERD, slow heart rate, high cholesterol. Depression, fatigue and anxiety, heart palps can be symptoms of either.
Avatar f tn Have to fight pretty hard to avoid problems and weight gain lead to too much glucose (sugar) in body once a few years ago. But tried mirtazapine again in 2010 and now and it seems to be helping the depression with less problems than effexor like nausea and strange dreams. But now weight is going back down and I shop for more fruits and drink diet soda's. I know there are healthier things to drink, but it was on sale.... :) Cranberry juice is healthy too.
Avatar f tn Congrats on your weight gain and I hope you pass it mama!
