2025701 tn?1328919633 Hopefully you will cure the cause of your liver disease and stop the progression of your liver disease. If not, as you know, most people wait many years for a liver transplant as their disease progresses and then get sicker and sicker. Although we hate to think about it, cirrhosis can be a fatal disease. I really face that when I was diagnosed with liver cancer 21 months ago. When cirrhotic the only cure is a liver transplant before the cancer become unmanageable.

Avatar f tn My dog is 12 year old and has arthrits and the vet told me to use glucosamine. In the summer time he does not need it. Now my dog is whimpering and shakeing, when I pet him he stops. This started a couple of days ago. The weather got really cold fast and I just started him back on glucosamine. Does this sound like the arthrits acting up or do I need to worry? How much glucosamine can I give him? I hate when my dog is in pain, I have had him since I was in kindergarden.
Avatar m tn Nothing was found on X-Rays, blood work and urine except for Kidney Disease which he now on food just for that. Vet says best way is to bring him to a specialist for an MRI to see why there is extensive atrophy on his right leg compared to his left leg. I am debating on the MRI for him. I was wondering what would cause strong muscle atrophy on one leg and why when I touch it he is very sensitive between the upper part of his knee. No arthritis has been found and bones are very good.
Avatar m tn Now my first question is it really a high risk to be taking considering this medecine could cause liver problems or liver failure? My other question is what are the main symptoms of liver problems or liver failure? I am very worried because today he was gagging a little like he wanted to throw up and he also was not acting like himself towards the end of the day he seemed less playful then usual. I offered him steak and he won't eat it.
Avatar n tn Nobody here can tell you if you have liver damage or disease. You need to see your doctor and have a liver function test run. Being an athlete and taking supplements doesn't give you a get out of jail free card. Alcohol is still doing its work on your liver, pancreas and brain. So would you rather be fit and healthy or keep drinking?

163305 tn?1333668571 Use the combination Glucosamine, MSM, Chondroitin. You can usually find it sold combined in that way. I use it for arthritis of knees and it helps. Glucosamine by itself didn't do anything for me.
558059 tn?1288550944 Are you using the right dosage? I give my dog (who weighs 28lbs) 500mg Glucosamine, and 200mg Chondrotin every day without fail. (So you could calculate the correct dosage for your dog's weight, from that.) In her case she had an intermittent limp in her right leg, which was a throwback from a broken leg about 6 years ago. As soon as I started her on the supplement, after about 5 days (!) I noticed she didn't limp anymore. And in 1 year, she hasn't done so since!
1093971 tn?1257833640 What form is the glucosamine in? What is the total daily dose? Are there any other ingredients? What type is the glucosamine? How pure are the ingredients? If you’re considering taking glucosamine with chondroitin you have another ballgame. Since you didn’t ask about the latter I’ll stick to glucosamine by itself. If you search the Internet you’ll see inconclusive evidence of glucosamine having negative effects on blood sugar.

Avatar f tn My arthritis was really bad just before being diagnosed hypo and starting levo. It improved tremendously once my FT3 and FT4 returned to higher levels. I was amazed how much of it was thyroid related. TSHxx, you'll definitely be living with the hypothyroidism for the rest of your life. Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies, TPOab and TGab? Elevated levels of one or both of these can indicate Hashi's, which, like RA, is an autoimmune disease.
Avatar n tn I have degenerative disc disease of L5 and S1, and when I am in pain I use a rib belt for a few days. I do know the Glucosamine/Chondroitin Tablets Double Strength 3 a day have helped my knee arthritis a little bit. I do see a difference if I stop taking it. I have not had any back pain, but I am having pain down the front of my leg and cannot lift it or the pain goes into my groin. Everyone is telling me that its from my back being unaligned, even if it does not hurt.

Yes, without a doubt, in her case anyways. I don't see why it would be any different for a HepC person but read about it and make sure it's liver friendly.
Avatar m tn Thank you all so much for your help and kind words. Everyone near to me has told me to take cod liver oil tablets in the morning and night to help grease the joints. I will start taking them soon and hopefully I will see an improvement there after. I am feeling a little more upbeat today and have decided not to let this thing pull me under. I will start swimming and stationery cycling on Monday to try and strenthen the area. Many thanks again.
Avatar m tn Basing on the TOTAL HEALTH CHEKUP reports doctor informed me that it might be Chronic Liver disease. Provided some medicines and request to come back after 15 days. By this time, my mom became very weak. Her knee pain started to worry her and not able to stand and walk as knee is hurting her a lot. It started at left leg and passed to right leg. Both legs swelled a lot.... We took her to hospital for check up and admitted in hospital. Doctor conducted tests such as 1. Liver Function test 2.
Avatar m tn i take glucosamine and chlo (something) with joint lubricants....
Avatar n tn The problem can occur anywhere there are joints in the body, which include her spine, hips, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and even in her tail. Lyme disease can contribute to joint pain and should be checked often and treated if necessary. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories such as Rimadyl or Previcox do help with joint pain and work to decrease inflammation which can further help to deteriorate joints.
Avatar n tn answer regarding muscle atrophy in hind legs and the information on glucosamine and the omega fatty acids. These supplements are already being administered. Additionally, I walk my dog every morning. Granted, the walks have slowed as he has aged and the distance traveled h as lessened, but he still does get excercise. He reminds me that it's time to walk and appears to enjoy it. Is there any physcial theraphy that I can perform at home, such a leg motion - movement or stretching?
Avatar f tn If you wish to try it make sure you are not allergic to shell fish (glucosamine) or MSM (from pine tree bark) or Arnica ( arnica montana flower). You can buy MSM and arnica lotions separately and there is a glucosamine product that is made from corn but it is expensive. I am also taking vitamins which seems to be helping too.
