Common Questions and Answers about Gastroenteritis what to eat

gastroenteritis

Avatar f tn Extremely normal. Gastroenteritis (stomach virus) is inflammation. It can cause mild to extreme pains anywhere in your abdomen, though most feel it epigastrically. (The hollow right under your ribs, in your upper stomach) Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fever, malaise and general aches and pains. For most people symptoms subside within 1-3 days but you're contagious much longer.

Avatar f tn On day 7 of a severe case of gastroenteritis. Everything seems to have calmed down, but once I try and eat anything stomach cramps start, which are unbearable. Sometimes followed by diarrhoea. Is this normal after a severe case of gastroenteritis or do I need to see my G.P again?
535089 tn?1400673519 The Doc was not avail but the nurse talked with her and by the grace of god, they let me go home early so I was wondering what the best diet would be. The last time I tried to eat I ended up with a GI bleed. So any suggestions on the food?
Avatar n tn ve been diagnosed with bacterial infection in my stomach after i went to the hospital to check out stomach pains. Yesterday night i had a fever with about 37.8 Celsius and right now my chest hurts and the inside feels like it itches. What should I do? Is it because the infection has traveled? or the chest pain is because of the spreading infection?

1788584 tn?1315106518 As for acid reflux, this is a symptom of your tummy producing too much acid, and since you were able to eat you do not have a stricture in your esophogus, and I just think if you imagine you ate something a little off or imagine a temporary virus, you'll realize that's all it is. As I said, if you're not feeling a lot better by mid-week, do go to a clinic to get labwork done for any bacteria you picked up from food.
Avatar f tn In order to prevent the rise of lipase, you should pay attention to your diet in daily life, do not eat fried foods, also do not eat foods with high fat content. It is best to eat some fresh fruits and vegetables, and you can change your eating habits according to the specific situation.

Avatar n tn My daughter is 14 months old and she has has watery diarrhea and vomitting. When she was born she was perfectly healthy, but once I had to return to work I began to give her formula and that's when she began to have these complications. She began to have watery diarrhea and vomit. I took her to the doctor and they said she had gastroenteritis, but it's been a while now and she is still the same? Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Thank you.
Avatar n tn After being told by you no worries because everything is tested thoroughly now but if I was still worried to talk to her Dr. I spoke with her Dr. about my concerns. He tested her at 3.5 weeks and it was negative. He also told me no worries he was 99.9999% sure HIV was no issue because everything is tested and retested now and it would make medical news, so again no worries which supported what you said. I let it go and all had been well up to now.
591925 tn?1218982710 I did a little searching on "Gastritis" and found some symptoms that were close to mine. But it did say if there was also diarrhea involved (which I have) that "Gastroenteritis" might be the right diagnosis. And my symptoms also were close to that of "Giardiasis" so I'm a little confused as to what to expect to hear from the doctor, but I'm going to make an appointment Monday morning since these all can be caused by infections/virus/bacteria, etc.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar n tn I would recommend talking to your doctor and telling them that the meds aren't working anymore. They can help you figure out what to do.
Avatar m tn t eat it all as I came over very hot and feeling very ill, since then I have barely been able to eat, I started with cold like symptoms, sickness and diarrhoea. Once the illness part of it past I felt absolutely fine, yet, I still can't eat much food at all, the smell of food makes me nauseous, I am getting heart burn all the time. I am drinking pleanty of water but eating no more than an egg cup full of food a day if I am lucky.
Avatar m tn I am having problems keeping my food in my stomach long enough so I can pass it out normally, instead, after I eat, I have to run to the toilet and it passes through me within 10 minutes and i am in really bad pain. when i was 13, i was diagnosed with Gastroenteritis, had the course of medication, nothing got better or worse, at ages 15, saw a different doctor, and was diagnosed with IBS, it took me 14 months to get a doctors appointment as the NHS where i live is extremely shoddy.
Avatar m tn He flops back and forth between three meals a day if he feels he can eat them to five to six little meals a day if his stomach is upset. He has only lost about 25pounds but on a man that's 6'3" it makes a huge difference. His vomiting has got much better over the last year and the nausea comes and goes. I feel he is not getting enough calories and nor will he try to because of the stomach being too full which I understand.
Avatar m tn I felt fine within a few hours, then went to the doctor and had everything checked and she said she thought it was Gastroenteritis. My vitals were all good. Since Tuesday I still hear groaning, creeky and bubbly sounds especially in the morning. Today for my cheat day I bought some cookies, but 20 minutes after eating them I ran to the bathroom. I also feel more anxious, worried these days with job issues...so overall I'm not sure if this is an IBS flare up, or colitis or what.
910699 tn?1242769468 I have also noticed that she does not want to eat much. My dog has never liked to eat dog food so we have been given her eggs, chicken, and other meats that we might have at meal times. When she does eat she tends to eat fast, but lately she does not want to eat these foods. She drinks water on a regular basis and goes to the washroom regularly everything looks normal. Should I take her to the vets?
4503521 tn?1400858886 I don't kno what it is but its getting very hard to sleep at night laying on my sides even ***** and the nightmares don't help :-(

The symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, low grade fever up to 100 degrees and possible cramps are caused by many things, virus or bacterial. However, the most common cause is a virus called Norovirus. It is spead from person to person by fecal oral contamination.
