Gastroenteritis no appetite

Common Questions and Answers about Gastroenteritis no appetite

gastroenteritis

He has always been a good eater in the past. He was diagnosed with gastroenteritis but no treatment has been found. He also has an anal mucus discharge. He had very low iron and was given mega iron last week. What treatments are available?
I'm a 56 year old male who is in good condition. I've eaten low fat, salt, etc. for many years with a scant medical history to this point. I became progressively ill about a month ago with flu like symptoms--except no diarrhea. The symptoms are:extreme gastric bloating(Simethicone doesn't help) +sick feeling(sometimes dizzy), mostly feeling really lousy, sometimes blurred vision, eyes feeling sunken & tired + no diarrhea" +no constipation + lack of appetite. Off lactose for 1 wk.
I also recently developed muscle and joint pain, particularly in my knees, hips, and muscles of the legs which is quite severe. I have no solid stools at all - just water. I have no appetite. I also find that if I fast and drink nothing but water for a day or so, I still have gurgling and numerous watery bowel movements the next day. I also sometimes have severe epigastric pain, not relieved by antacids or PPIs. 1. Rheumatology workup was negative - sed rate, ANA, RF, etc.
I was told that I had viral gastroenteritis.. ( 6 days stomach pains, no nausea... no vomiting.. alot of diarrhea.. . they drew blood for a CMP and CBC. I had initially went in because i thought i had over dosed on Iron. They had to send out the iron to be checked. I got the CBC and CMP results while i was there.. I was told that everything looked awesome. The only thing that was a bit off was MO# and MO%, which the doc said was indicative of a viral thing going on. However..
Sometimes at night after being awake for a period of time I notice the symptoms lessen and sometimes I regain my appetite and feel ok, only to have no appetite and the slight to moderate nausea in the morning. I considered the possibility that I might have hepatitis infection or some other kind of liver infection. I am becoming fatigued a bit from lack of food, and it's been almost a week since I first noticed my lack of appetite. What is wrong and how long will this last?
Yes, we all know that loss of appetite can mean sinister things but as you said you have no other symptoms, no fatigue etc. There are so many more things that statistically it's more likely to be and its very unlikely that it's anything sinister really. The more you worry yourself about it the worse it might get. Why not visit the doctor if only to put your mind at rest. I'm sure you will be fine but as it's causing you concern why not put your mind at rest and visit the doctor.
He was fine for the next two days with no vomiting or diarrhea, but did have a decreased appetite. The next night he vomited four times during the night and seemed to do okay that next day other than being sleepy and taking a long nap. Yesterday he had a good day. He had a good day today, but was not hungry during supper. Then this evening he has started vomiting again. The vomiting only seems to be happening during the night. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
I need some help for 11 weeks I've had terrible nausea, no appetite, body shakes but not cold, sometimes a stomach ache but not all the time, dizzy and I'm just so tired all the time. I've had blood tests, CT scan, pelvic ultrasound, colonoscopy and endoscopy. I don't know what else to do. Can someone please help me please!!!
All other results of both the sonogram and MRCP were normal. No masses, no blocks, no stones, no nothing. I went to the doctor in Sept. because I was fatigued and had a red spot on my breast. I was told the spot was a yeast infection and told to treat it with Lotirimin. It is not improving. Bigger than a silver dollar. I was tested for Hepatitus and Lyme. All okay. They did a glucose tolerence test, which I failed miserably with a drop in blood sugar to 34.
I am 19 years old, female, healthy, normal eating habits, etc, but I do not burp. I've tried drinking soda, swallowing air, etc, and it just makes me feel uncomfortable but doesn't make me burp. Instead, my throat gurgles. The best way to describe the sound is like a stomach growling, only in the throat. It's incredibly embarrassing and I can't prevent it from happening. It tends to happen a lot after I drink juice or soda, but also sometimes after meals where I only drank water.
Is your appetite back?
Nausea very often no vomiting even tried and couldn't. right side stomach pain. no fever no soar throat. very cold chills even. NO APPETITE. PLEASE HELP. PS I work in a hospital. Just took an std test but have only received oral sex.
The only thing they found was loops in my small bowels and the Dr said gas. Diagnosis is viral gastroenteritis. Will this gas go away? Should I worry about this? No stomach pain just rumbling no idea. I get a little nauseated when I get hungry and no vomiting. Could this all be part of a virus? I'm having normal bowel movements. Thanks.
Every time I seem to eat a decent sized meal I seem to have to go to the toilet no more than 5 minutes later and it's dark dark brown diarrhea not watery but chunky. Can anyone help?
During this time, I even lost my appetite. Now, going on week three, my appetite came back strong but I'm not able to eat the same foods I use to eat because I get nausecous. I'm able to eat lean chicken, vegetables, noodles with no cream sauce, non-acidic fruits, and continuing with the B.R.A.T. I went to the doctor last Friday and had blood, urine, and an H. pylori test done and all came back normal. Next week, I will have an ultrasound down on my stomach and gallbladder.
Could not pass gas last night, but some today. No appetite, felt some nausea with severe cramping. May sound silly, but had beans for lunch & lima beans for dinner. Can gas be this painful & last with tenderness? Thanks for any help!
My abdominal area is slightly uncomfortable, achy, not painful (more like what I would call a constant nervous stomach), never any diarrea or vomiting, no swollen glands, appetite normal, temp slightly low at 98.2. The only other persistant symptoms are mild lower back ache, mild upper thigh ache, both came on about 24 days after exposure. I've seen some information that this could be gastroenteritis, then heard that gastroenteritis could be associate with HIV infection.
The vomitting was all liquid and must have totalled 1 gal. I have no appetite, but am drinking alot of fluids. 3 days later I am still weak. My husband had the same thing 36 hours before me. Is this a new strain of virus.?
5), muscle aches (mild to severe), sweats and chills, stiffness, weakness, some dizziness, no appetite. I automatically assumed it was the influenza virus but in almost everywhere I read, it says a cough and/or sore throat almost always follow. I've had neither, nor have I had any chest pain. It's now Monday and it seems that the only symptoms remaining are muscle ache, weakness and I've since gained my appetite back and I'm eating light foods, but after eating it continues to churn.
I have had this pain since i was pregnant with my daughter over a year ago, i recently had a ultrasound and HIDA scan done where there are normal results,i still have pain in URQ and burping, diarrhea, lost 7 pounds this week so far,i dont have much of an appetite, ive also been nausious. I have pain under my right ribs no matter if i eat or not just is much worse when i eat. i also have chest pain and shoulder pain when i feel the RUQ pain too.
As of today, Easter,--after eating a decent-sized meal, the stools have totally lost their weird form and have turned into yellowy diarrhea. The pain is a constant ache, not intense, but uncomfortable. No position relieves the discomfort. It is just a constant, and very central, middle-of- the-tummy dull ache. I have no history of any gasterointestinal problems and am quite confounded by this, especially its persistence.
He says he feels fine and he has a regular appetite. The only other symptom he has if that he is hurting on his right lower side. He has had no fever. The doctor checked his blood and urine this morning and said it all looks fine. Of course they won't keep him at school when he is vomiting. What could possibly be wrong that needs to be checked that the Dr. is missing? This is beginning to concern me and he is really missing a lot of school.
It always felt like there was extreme gas built up, however I never had any issues with bowel movements or passing gas. Normal appetite & bowel movements. Sometimes it was troublesome to walk, so I mostly stayed in bed with a heating pad. The it all went away (after several days of pain). Now, that's been about 4 days ago (since the pain ended) and today I had a bowel movement that was flat. I cannot remember ever having one like this. I was just kind of flattened.
Hello, I have something that goes away and comes back, there seemd to be no trigger that I can find but sometimes it last a day and sometimes it last 8 days. Sometimes it is mild and sometimes it is severe. When it occurs which seems to be every week now, I feel nauseated, have a strong sharp pain in the middle of my abdomen, lose all appetite, am super tired and my arms and legs feel like they weigh 100 pounds each. It started back in October and I had a heart ablation done in November.
For the entire past week, up until now (december 8) i have had yellowish, loose diarrhea (only 2-3 daily), just feeling sick, very fatigued, no real fever (warm sometimes). Went to the doc and had bilirubin in my urine, tested for hepatitis, came back negative (so what the hell is the biliruben there for?) Strep and mono also negative. Doc said i had gastroenteritis, but im getting worried because the glands on the sides of my neck right below the jaw are aching.
3 weeks later, he vomits 1-2x/day for 5 days in a row with severely reduced appetite but no diarrhea and soft stools. After 5 days of vomiting, he had one day with no BM and no vomiting, then the next day frequent diarrhea. We again figured he had a virus and just bad luck. Took him back to the pediatrician after 6 days of diarrhea, but no more vomiting. We did a stool culture and sensitivity, check for rotavirus and c-diff. All negative.
Can my above symptoms show the possibilities of being a hernia? Oh no appetite but no vomiting or fever. Just don't feel good. I'm supposed to GI Dr. Weds. but I am really uncomfortable and like I said miseriblile.
My stomach had several "petechae" according to the endoscopic exam. Pathology report concluded "nonspecific inactive gastritis" (feels pretty active to me!) with no sign of H. Pylori. Pathology report of duodenum showed "chronic mild inflammation." No sign of celiac disease. Colon is normal. I'm getting a capsule endoscopy next week. Last year when I had that, it showed several diverticulae of the jejunum.
I rarely eat fatty foods and/or carbs and am a very active person. I have little to no energy or appetite. I get indigestion after eating something little like half a banana. I am constantly burping or having gas. This is completely abnormal for me. The doctor at first told me to take probiotics, which I have been taking for over 2 weeks now and still the same. I had blood work done and it all came back normal.
