I have a pain in my right side under my rib cage but it isn't a consistent pain. It happens just from time to time and will last for 3-5min at a time most the time after I have eaten. What could this be and is there anything I should do? I have had a gall bladder test done and it came back normal so they say but the problem has not went away and most times it will make me short of breath. If you could help in anyway I would appreciate it so much thank u.
The main thing is a cramping that occur frequently, right around the bottom of my ribs on the right side, on the front side not back - this happens 3-4 times a week during the day lasting an hour or two, and almost every night right before I go to sleep, its very consistent and it isn't necessarily about lieing down, unless my body is anticipating lieing down or something?
A few days ago, I started having a nagging right side pain and by the next day it was so intense I ended up in the ER. They did bloodwork, uralyisis, ultrasound of my gallbladder and ct scan to check for kidney stones. Everything came back normal and now I'm very frustrated. They sent me home with painkillers and told me it could possibly be my gallbladder, to follow up and get a HIDA scan. Now a couple days later, my side doesn't hurt as bad but is sore.
What do you mean with "swelling on my right side"? Is pain constant and what kind of pain is it? Does it radiates somewhere? Any change in stool habit? Have you ever had any liver disease?
Are you bloated, have problems with excessive gas?
Woke up after 2 hours with what seemed like severe gas cramp or like a Charlie horse on my right side from under my rib all the way to pubic bone and from navel around my side. Been having nausea when I eat for over 4 months. Had EGD, CT, and ultrasound, but not showing much. Gallbladder showed no stones, pancreas was enlarged. Everything I read points to gallbladder should I push for HIDA scan?
I'm 10 weeks 6 days and I just experienced a sharp pain on my right side by my ribcage anyone know what it could have been?
hi i am 21 year old woman. i started having pain on my right side...about the middle of the ribcage,some of the pain is under the middle of the ribcage and some of it is like in my rib cage...i have been having symptoms like heartburn,neasua,and sometimes when i eat it gets worse..it feels the the kind of pain u get in your side when you ran way too much..but i havnt...i went to the er and they told me that on my left side i had a kidney stone and my right side i have an infection.
Pain in this area always alerts a physician to first check the Gallbladder. The Gallbladder also refers pain to the right shoulder. If the shoulder and jaw pain was on the LEFT side of the body, the heart and cardiovascular system should be evaluated and clinical correlation is required. Other less likely considerations would be accute myocardial infarction, gas, indigestion, intercostal neuritis, and diverticulitis.
I have middle back pain on right side which extends to right shoulder and right hand and even sometimes in sides of the chest.

Right sided pain radiating to the back and right shoulder after a cholecystectomy points to a possible stone in the common bile duct or sphincter of oddi dysfunction. You can still get stones after gallbladder surgery. You should be your gp and have some blood work done. If there is some kind of blockage your enzymes will be elevated. You should have a ultrasound of the abdomen also.
