Avatar f tn Im doing an I-Search paper for my Honors English 3 class, and I would like to know a little about memory loss. If you could tell me how it occurs, some treatment options, how it affects the person, and the medical reason that it happens, (such as what happens in the brain to make it forget, other than a bump on the head) would really help me. Thank you.
Avatar m tn There are many supplements available that claim to boost memory, focus, concentration, etc, but most of them have very little evidence of effectiveness. If you have difficulty focusing on tasks you should consult a physician. Many people suffer for years with attention problems that can be managed with prescription medications. Healthy lifestyle choices can play a big role. Eating a well balanced diet, staying active and getting at least 7 hours of sleep can help.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am wondering if anybody has a suggestion of medications or anything that works to help with memory problems associated with SCT that will not cause more memory problems or possible brain damage with long term use?
Avatar m tn I have read some horrifying posts about Lexapro damaging memory (some of which people say is permanent) and considering taking half a dose a few days and either continuing that permanently or quitting. I cannot afford to lose any memory space at this point in my life. I'd rather be anxious than dumb -_- .
Avatar m tn Thank you for your response I don't use any drugs, no seizures depression is not an issue either but I do get little sleep after I finish my day before I go to sleep I stay up till 2:30-3:30 am everyday on the tv or computer and wake up around 7:30-8 if I don't have to wake up for college I usually get a couple more hours of sleep a night but 4 or 5 days a week im getting between 4.5-5.
Avatar n tn The diagnosis is that it is the onset of a form of dementia and unlikely to improve. One problem I have is that besides being 3000 miles away, my sister-in-law is close to being a hypochondriac and had numerous real or imaginary problems. Is it normal or likely for this type of regression to happen in 4 weeks? Could a memory loss be triggered by excessive mental stress?
Avatar f tn However, it wasnt until 1 week ago that I realized that my memory and analytical motors became impaired without warning. Had I felt the slightest effects, I would have quit immediatelty as I would never risk 20 mins of pleasure for a successful and bright career. As soon as I noticed the effects, I quit the use of cocaine permanently.
Avatar f tn I have had memory loss for a long time now. I have gone through some trauma in my life, but I have never banged my head or been in a car accident. I have been emotionally abused and was in a bad controlling relationship 4 years ago. I am 21 years old, yet as soon as events happen I don't remember them unless I see pictures or hear someone recall a happy event. For example, they will say remember when? and then they will tell a story and I don't remember it until they explain.
2192208 tn?1346525832 Has anyone besides me suffered from short term memory loss?? I hear that Ginko Binoba is great for that but is it really???
Avatar m tn I have certain memory dropouts from that time, and I doubt they will come back. Which is ok with me because I'd rather forget most of the experience anyway (not the people I've met along the way though). But honestly dude, if you're huffing on the weed, isn't it pretty obvious that it's at the very least exacerbating your memory problems? It could even be the root cause of them.
Avatar n tn He has been experiencing short-term memory loss for the past 3 years. This spring, my mom took him to the doctor for a series of tests. They conducted an MRI to check for tumors or a possible stroke. They also conducted an initial screening for Alzheimers and dementia. Everything came back clear. The doctors agreed that there is some short-term memory loss but not enough to warrant medication.

1838299 tn?1403492543 One of them was memory loss, especially short term memory loss. I was treated with INF - injections 3 x wk - and a side effect of that - taken from their literature was - you guessed it - short term memory loss! So I went from total recall to not being sure of anything on 2 accts. the INF STMLoss seems to be permanent, but as I treat - will take 45th dose this a.m., I am seeing improvement, which my husband verifies - he is seeing the improvement also.
Avatar f tn However, given the brief events you mention, it sounds like you may be depressed. That is, often people with depression first complain of memory problems, often from merely apathy and a lack of attention. In older populations it's important to differentiate depression and it's associated memory difficulty from dementia (e.g. Alzheimer's).
Avatar m tn com/article/S0140-6736%2808%2960147-6/abstract A healthy gut is critical for ensuring that your digestive system runs smoothly and your body stays in good health. We are eating foods that hurt our gut, which in turn makes our gut more permeable to larger food proteins, or leaky. These larger proteins, which should normally be further broken down before being absorbed, seep into our bloodstream, which triggers an inflammatory immune response.
Avatar n tn I also have had an increase in social anxiety to the point of avoidance do to the way that I communicate and the inability to explain issues that arise from memory loss i.e. not remembering the name of some one I see day to day or how to get some where I have been many times in the local area.
Avatar n tn When I'm driving I frequently forget where I am and where I am going. Sometimes I feel panic because I think I've missed the exit. Sometimes I actually do miss the exit. In addition, I seem to lose my concentration - not only while driving but at work. I often appear stupid, as if I'm not understanding what my boss is trying to explain to me. I thought I was an intelligent person. I graduated from a prestigious uninversity. My verbal skills are exceptional.
Avatar n tn Cognitive confusion and memory loss are potential side effects of Clozaril. Sometimes this can improve over time but it depends. Best to discuss this with your psychiatrist and they can see what to do from there.
Avatar m tn One of the most frustrating is memory loss. Memory loss can occur in most people as they age. But sometimes, memory loss can be due to circulatory problems and hormonal changes in the body. To prevent memory loss when a person has diabetes, one should change their diet to include foods with fiber, protein, and calcium that will stimulate blood flow and also help replace some of the nutrients lost. Exercise will also promote blood flow.
